I agree - but damn I have so much on this install that I wouldn't remember what is even on there, as well as the fact that I do a lot of Flight Simulation on Prepar3d, and the amount of add-ons I have installed on my secondary drives (but linked through to the P3D install on my main windows drive) is unreal. Not feeling having to re-link all of that back up for the rest of time. But I totally agree with your comment and thank you for the advice.

Besides I think my install of Windows is fairly uncluttered. I tend to uninstall everything except for what I know I need, which gives me a nice streamlined install.

One or two employees (Bankers) hold the keys to the LMG warehouse inventory. They decide what and how much to sell things from the inventory for.

Up to 4 individuals or teams have to do a dash with a budget to buy the best parts (or most balanced) in the building. Budget should be restrictive so that the best parts can't be used. Bonus points for exotic cooling, modded cases, basically the weirder and more creative the better. But you can only use the resources INSIDE the LMG warehouse, and no going outside for any reason.

If there's enough interest in one item, an auction can take place, conducted by the bankers. Nobody is allowed the same one component as anyone else (no duplicates).

@AlexTheGreatish's time with any of the engineering equipment is charged at like $100/hour and he can only work for one team at a time.

Yes they do and it's backward compatible.
So anything that has the same usb port can use it.

I dont care what LMG makes as long as
    1) Its employees are fairly paid with their wages
    2) Its employees are looked after by the company in the workplace
    3) LMG can continue to grow and keep on as it is
    4) Linus can reward himself for being a down right workaholic for the past 10 years, getting this channel/group of channels where they are today.
    5) Linus and his family can live a comfortable life and his kids can go to college, not have to worry about money too much.

Handy tool! I'll keep that in mind, Thanks!

Yeah they look like nice memory modules! I have Corsair Vengeance modules in my system in the moment, and when i tried to upgrade the 2x8GB kit with another identical revision number 2x8GB kit, motherboard hated it, that's why I'm not too much of a fan of leaving the gaps for the upgrade I guess, because I know i'll always have a bit of a worry about upgrading.

What is BDie if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you! I'll have a look at this in a little while!

    Hey all,

Looking to upgrade my RAM to a 4x8GB 4000MHz kit.

Looking on the QVL for Ryzen processors looks as though in principle, the motherboard supports the RAM. but doesn't support a 4-DIMM installation of the memory, which kinda defeats the object of having 4x8GB sticks?

Anyone had any experience with this, and was it okay to install the 4 DIMMs as normal?

    Cheers,
    Rhys

There is no display requirement for HDR 10 certification other than DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 and an 8-bit panel.
HDR10 has nothing to do with deeper blacks. It's all about color correction.

QLED is pretty neat. One advantage is a higher contrast.
LG has a similar technology called Nano IPS.

But all of this doesn't really matter, because image quality still depends mostly on the panel and build quality of the display.
Those are things you can't find in a specsheet. That's why I recommended to check out reviews.

RhysMusique got a reaction from kdawwgg1221 in How can a gtx 1060 get outdated?
60-series graphics cards are the lowest end of the true high performance graphics card offering. So you'd expect that within a few generations, since GTX 1060 there's been RTX 2060 and now RTX 2060 SUPER, as well as Nvidia filling the gaps by introducing the 1660 and now 1660 SUPER cards. Call of Duty will have been created with that in mind, since it has settings for Ray Tracing etc.

ALL hardware gets outdated. I remember a few Titan cards 4-5 years ago, and thinking 'Wow, nothing will beat that for under $1000 for many many years to come'. Now we have 70-series cards easily pushing them aside. There is no such thing as futureproofing, especially at the low end. I've just replaced a GTX 980Ti in my system because it was a VRAM bottleneck in my system.

All that said, you don't /have/ to have a brand new expensive GPU to get the best out of games, you just need to start making small tradeoffs. Render detail vs framerate, framerate vs resolution, resolution vs render detail, things like that. Play around with the settings and you'll find a happy medium in most games for a few years to come.

Apologies if this sounded harsh but tech moves fast and the market leaders are market leaders for a reason. They innovate with every iteration.

How you log on, or if you connect your microsoft account isn't changing the need to take the ownership. It is a different installation, a different windows with another unique ID (the windows itself)

right click on the folder you want to access => properties => security tab => Advanced button (down right) => next to Owner click change => select the existing user you are logged on with and hit ok => place the hook on the bottom and hit OK.

Afterwards you can add your user to the fullaccess list. recursive again. And then you should see everything but hidden folders and files if not deactivated in the settings.

If you don't want that behavior you talked about in the first post, having to chose which to boot, yes, I would start over.

And for accessing the old user profile, it has a completely different SID. So the Administrator from the old system isn't the administrator of the new one. If clicking "do it as admin" doesn't work, you need to take the ownership of the folder. in advanced security options.

It is the bootloader. While setting up the new windows on the ssd the setup routine recognized the old installation. Then you get both to chose from at startup.

There are tools to change that. But the last time I did that with a windows 10 installation, Windows 10 wasn't happy at all.

The thing that would have prevented that is unplugging the old disk before installing on the new one. Then after the successful installation you can plug it back in.
