  1. The last Macbook models which used NVIDIA graphics cards was the 2012 retina model (please correct me if I'm wrong). After that, even though the NVIDIA cards gave more performance than the AMD ones, AMD used less battery. So apple went with them on the Macbooks. However, my guess is that after they went with AMD, they couldn't partner with NVIDIA even if they wanted to. So up till today, AMD cards can still be found in computers like the iMac Pro.
  2. Hey guys, I've been using a PC I built for about a year now running off of a Samsung Evo 500GB SSD. However, my storage is running low so I'm thinking about buying a second drive. My question is, if I were to do so, how would I configure the two? Do I leave the boot drive empty and transfer everything over to the new drive? Have a great day!
  3. Hey guys, I have been using a Corsair H100i for over a year now and I would like to know what do people usually do to maintain their AIO liquid cooler... For example: how to check for leaks, how long before replacing AIO? etc Thanks!
  4. Hey guys, thanks so much for your help! I ran a 3D mark benchmark while having the PSU outside of the case. In no time, it became obvious that the GPU and CPU were completely silent while the PSU was whining like an upset baby.
  5. Hey guys, Specs: Intel Core i7 6700k Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce Corsair CX750 Gigabyte Gaming K3 Motherboard I built a PC (specs above) a while back and there is some coil whine that is really starting to bother me. Back then, I did not pay attention to looking out for "whiny" parts or a stable power supply. When running games and benchmarks, there is some audible coil whine. However, it is very difficult for me to put a finger on which component it is. I have done some research and sure enough, both these parts have people complaining about coil whine. Since Christmas is here, I have the opportunity to get either a new GPU or PSU. I am still running tests to get a better picture of the situation andI would really appreciate your opinions. Happy Holidays! Matt
  6. PSUs do actually have a fair bit of influence on how much coil whine your GPU produces because of the quality of power delivered can vary greatly. Hope this bit of information was useful.
  7. Good point. In your opinion, do you think the Rmi PSU would do a better job supporting my rig and reducing coil whine?
  8. Yeah my 970 does have some audible coil whine too. However, replacing the power supply should still improve system stability and reduce coil whine though right?
  9. Build Specs: Core i7-6700k Corsair H100i v2 Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 16gb Corsair Vengeance RAM Samsung evo 500gb SSD Hey guysI built a PC a while back which I was pretty happy with. However, I started to realise that when the GPU began to go under load the CX750 power supply would start producing a screeching electrical noise, presumably coil whine, which is very distracting. After doing some research online, I found out that the CX series is famous for shoddy build quality and does not do well supporting enthusiast rigs... So now I am on the hunt for a new power supply. I set my sights on the Corsair Rm750i which is a Tier 1. However when I compared the +5V and +12V ratings on Corsair's website, they were exactly the same! Does that mean the RMi will also not be able to handle the load? Maybe I'm not reading the tables right. An explanation would be greatly appreciated! Link to Corsair CX750 Link to Corsair RM750i
