you cant just combine 2 internet connections together to achieve 2gbps downloads, you can just balance your load between two lines and thats where load balancing devices and software come to play. Windows usually favors the first ethernet device that has connection.

Oops, didn't read the model. The one you linked isn't compatible because it's an old refurbished one. You have to buy a new one for it to be compatible. Also, all MSI sTR4 boards are compatible out of the box now.

Didn't you create the same exact topic like not to long ago, say 2 weeks? Someone mentioned to get a SuperDrive, they will also support 1.44MB Floppy disk and uses 40PIN IDE, which you will have a greater chance of finding a controller card for that.

Yes, they did, it's SuperDisk. They go up to 120MB

Haven't found a PCI card, but I found some converter "cables"/dongle to go from 34pin to USB
"34pin 1.44mb floppy connecter to USB adapter cable"

There are similar adapters for 5.25" floppy drives but they are read-only.

I'm confused about why you are wanting what you are wanting, but they make r/w internal floppy drives that connect to internal USB headers for 10 to 20 bucks. If the problem then is that you don't have the internal USB header, but you do have an empty PCI slot, you can get a USB pci card that has an internal header for an addition 10 to 20 dollars and connect the floppy drive to that.

It seems as if only 3.5" drives are available.

Holy moly the result changed in the time between when I posted it and when I double checked after you replied.

A scroll through my history showed me the specific item I had found in that list, but you are right. I missed that it had both interfaces, internal USB to run the modern card readers and 32 pin to run the Floppy. I'm sorry I missed that.

Perhaps it is possible to fit this external drive into an internal bay and connect it using one of the adapters in this list?

There are some adapters floating around, but by using them you drive the cost up  I think you are either going to have to make one, commission one, or settle.

BTW, this made me look up the USB internal header pinouts. I think it is possible to just snip the USB 2.0 connector off and replace it with an internal connector (the pinout is the same, just doubled up and with a case ground for the front panel connector).

This is the only seller I could find that adapter from. I brought it from them a couple years ago for only $17.

    1. Does your BIOS have an Option for a Floppy drive?
    2. was there never a need for a PCI Floppy card because all Boards that support a floppy come with a floppy connector.
    3. If your BIOS doesn't have an Option for a Floppy, wich means that it doesn't have a Floppy port, you got a serious problem.

The only other way is to use a USB Floppy. You have no choice because of lack of BIOS Support for that device.

No and its highly unlikely that it will ever exist or work with modern computers.
So the only option you have is either a USB floppy or to use an IDE to CF or SD-Card Adapter and use that in the old computer for data transfer.

I've been looking for the past two hours for something that would work to no avail. it seems floppy controllers don't like modern hardware whatsoever, making it difficult if not impossible to make something like 34 pin to SATA or IDE. The only option seems to be a USB connection.

The only other option is getting a SCSI floppy drive but those are going for about $300. Otherwise that adapter I mentioned earlier is the only way to connect an internal 34-pin floppy drive over USB. Older versions of Windows support it via plug and play and treat it as a USB floppy drive. If you have Windows 10 you will need to find drivers for it.

You need BIOS Support for that to work.

And there is only one floppy drive that comes with IDE Port: LS120.
With that you might be lucky.

But its impossible to connect a Floppy to IDE because you need BIOS Support!

But the LS120 is rare, very rare...
There are ATAPI Floppys as well -> LS120.
But either way, you need BIOS Support for that device, SCSI was developed to be used as a universal interface for things, internal and external as well. Like Scanners and all kinds of drives.

But then again: Are you talking about x86 compatible products or are you talking about some special workstation components? Not all drives work with x86 compatible controllers...

Yeah, because you need a driver for that anyway.
But with some Notebooks you sadly have to have 'BIOS Support' for the WLAN Card as well as some have a WLAN Card Whitelist and similar bullshit.

For a floppy things are different. Its an old legacy device that needs BIOS Support to be used. Without it you just can't use it and there is no way to see it. They ain't "Plug and Pray", they are dumb and you have to set them. And that's why it can't be done any other way....

And with those USB Adaptors you bypass the BIOS kinda but then again, you can only use the device the USB is set for. If it says its for 1.44MB its only those you can use. you can't use 2.88MB 3,5" ones or 1.2MB 5,25" ones...

And transfering data from a modern PC to an ancient one is a pain...
