Hi everybody!
TL:DR: I delidded my 7700k overclocked it to 5Ghz at 1.35 stable and got a custom water-cooling-loop with a 420 Radiator just for the CPU but I still get thermal throttling to about 10% while stress-testing. I want to know if this can be or if I did something wrong whilst delidding.
So a while ago when the 1080Ti came out I got myself a new rig and thought I try custom watercooling with hardtubes for the first time.
All went more or less well (I killed my GPU but got a replacement LuL) and I got the system running quite well. I chose the go with the "Thermaltake Core P7" and mounted it on the Wall which looks quite nice if I may say so.
Since its mounted on the wall I was not keen on putting it down dismantling it and then reassembling it again only to delid the cpu but today I did it anyway. After going throw all of this with the help of some friends I found (to my surprise) that I did not kill my CPU in the process!
But heres the thing - I do still get thermal throttling with 100% load (up to 10%)!
Now my question to you good people of the internet - Can this be? I did use liquid metal (Conductonaut) on both delid and the conection from the normal IHS to the fullcover waterblock! Maybe I didnt use enough liquid metal between the IHS and Waterblock? I would really appreciate your input on this!
Fyi: I am planning on making a post here on the LTT-Forum once I am completely finished with the PC inducing a build guide, some pictures and my personal experience with my fist hardtubing loop.
