So my PC is around 3 years old now, with only 2 upgrades since I built it. It's been working fine for all of this time, until today it was running slow after leaving it on overnight. After turning it off and cleaning it with some compressed air, it refuses to boot no matter what I try. Again, it had been working for at LEAST 11 months since I last changed any components inside it, with no issues.
Specs:
R5 3600 (Stock)
Noctua NH-U12S
MSI B450 Tomahawk (Don't know Bios version)
2x8GB 3200MHZ RAM
GTX 1080ti
EVGA 650W Power Supply
250GB Boot SSD
1TB HDD
3 Case Fans
Error Symptoms:
The Red light on the motherboard indicating a CPU is not detected
The power LED not turning on after pressing it, while the rest of the computer does turn on (i.e. graphics card lights up, case fans turn on, CPU fans turn on, RAM LED's turn on, MB LED's turn on, 90% sure i can hear the HDD spinning)
The power button does not function when attempting to turn off the PC, if I turn the PC on, it only turns off when I flip the power switch on the PSU.
I have tried shorting the power switch on the motherboard front panel connectors, which DOES work when the PC is off, however shorting the power switch while the PC is on does nothing.
No Post no matter what I try, which I will share below
Troubleshooting I have tried so far includes:
Turning it off and on again (at least 15 times)
Re-seating the CPU
Removing each stick of RAM one at a time and attempting to Boot (For the hell of it, I tried booting with no sticks of RAM, at which point the EXACT same symptoms occurred, red light on mobo indicating no CPU detected)
Plugging in single sticks of RAM in each slot, once each
Clearing the CMOS (Twice)
Unplugging and re-plugging the front panel connectors (3 times)
Unplugging and re-plugging in the CPU and Motherboard power Cables (at both ends)
Unplugging all the case fans and front panel connectors except for the CPU fan (Which spins)
Things I have not tried:
Removing the CPU/Mobo/1stick of ram from the case, plugging them in to the PSU, and trying to boot off that.
Waiting for more than 3 hours to try and boot after time.
I'm at a loss at this point, unless the CPU decided to at random brick itself, but I want to take any suggestions at this point for things I have not tried, as I'd rather not have to buy a new CPU and mobo.
Also, it is now 4:40am here, so I'm going to sleep for now, but i'll be back in around 8 hours to try anything to fix it
