  1. So my PC is around 3 years old now, with only 2 upgrades since I built it. It's been working fine for all of this time, until today it was running slow after leaving it on overnight. After turning it off and cleaning it with some compressed air, it refuses to boot no matter what I try. Again, it had been working for at LEAST 11 months since I last changed any components inside it, with no issues. Specs: R5 3600 (Stock) Noctua NH-U12S MSI B450 Tomahawk (Don't know Bios version) 2x8GB 3200MHZ RAM GTX 1080ti EVGA 650W Power Supply 250GB Boot SSD 1TB HDD 3 Case Fans Error Symptoms: The Red light on the motherboard indicating a CPU is not detected The power LED not turning on after pressing it, while the rest of the computer does turn on (i.e. graphics card lights up, case fans turn on, CPU fans turn on, RAM LED's turn on, MB LED's turn on, 90% sure i can hear the HDD spinning) The power button does not function when attempting to turn off the PC, if I turn the PC on, it only turns off when I flip the power switch on the PSU. I have tried shorting the power switch on the motherboard front panel connectors, which DOES work when the PC is off, however shorting the power switch while the PC is on does nothing. No Post no matter what I try, which I will share below Troubleshooting I have tried so far includes: Turning it off and on again (at least 15 times) Re-seating the CPU Removing each stick of RAM one at a time and attempting to Boot (For the hell of it, I tried booting with no sticks of RAM, at which point the EXACT same symptoms occurred, red light on mobo indicating no CPU detected) Plugging in single sticks of RAM in each slot, once each Clearing the CMOS (Twice) Unplugging and re-plugging the front panel connectors (3 times) Unplugging and re-plugging in the CPU and Motherboard power Cables (at both ends) Unplugging all the case fans and front panel connectors except for the CPU fan (Which spins) Things I have not tried: Removing the CPU/Mobo/1stick of ram from the case, plugging them in to the PSU, and trying to boot off that. Waiting for more than 3 hours to try and boot after time. I'm at a loss at this point, unless the CPU decided to at random brick itself, but I want to take any suggestions at this point for things I have not tried, as I'd rather not have to buy a new CPU and mobo. Also, it is now 4:40am here, so I'm going to sleep for now, but i'll be back in around 8 hours to try anything to fix it
  2. I don't know about import fees, but you also have to consider that Newegg UK does not include VAT (like Newegg US), whereas other sellers on PC Part-picker UK do include VAT in their price listed in their prices, so be careful when you see prices on newegg, as they may not be as cheap as you think, so that £100 cheaper may be just VAT not being accounted for.
  3. @michelin_boi I finally got it fixed, had to take apart and put everything back together (apart from CPU/CPU cooler/MB) and it just worked first time. No idea what changed, did nothing different, just one of those things I guess lol. Maybe a bad connection, but whatever it was, it works now and i'm not gonna question it. Thanks again for the help, just got to install drivers now.
  4. I'm almost 100% certain it is not a memory issue. i'll look under the CPU cooler to see if i did something extremely stupid like miss-align it, but thanks for your help and patience anyway. I'll let you know when I fix it in the end
  5. I am confident the monitor works, as it worked on a separate PC and have tried both VGA and HDMI with this PC, with both saying No Display after plugging them in this PC. I'm 99% sure that the CPU is installed correctly, but I have not checked since putting on the CPU cooler obviously.
  6. OK tried each of these things, still no BIOS, RAM LED's still work but still no case fans or CPU fans spinning
  7. @michelin_boi MB:http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-3-rev-10#kf RAM:CMU16GX4M2C3000C15R Last thing i did was plug in the graphics card, however this is the first time i am turning it on I've tried plugging the hdmi port into both the MB and the GPU Yes the monitor is turned on, i know because the standby button is on, and when initially turning it on it says "no signal" I have tried taking the GPU out and putting it in again if that is what you mean by reseating, however not the RAM as that seems to be working My case/Motheboard does not beep or make any sound when turning on I have tried the USB's on the MB as well now and they seem to be working
  8. OK, so I've built my new PC and I get a black screen on boot However when turning on the system, the power button is on and my LED ram turns on, but no fans spin (Case or CPU or GPU) Specs are: Ryzen 5 1600 Stock cooler Gigabyte Gaming 3 motherboard 16GB Corsair 3000mhz vengence LED ram EVGA GTX 1070 SC WD blue 1TB 7200 RPM drive Samsung 650 pro 250GB SSD 650W Evga CPU NZXT S340 I have no idea what's going on I know the USB ports are working, and the power LED turns on, however nothing else happens
  9. Hey guys, my friend wants to upgrade his PC from an old build. His specs are: Intel core i5 4690 Intel stock cooler Gigabyte - GA-Z97P-D3 ATX 8GB of DDR3 RAM (unknown model) 1TB Hard-drive (unknown model) Radeon R9 270X Unknown case Unknown PSU (However i'm assuming it is the case PSU) His budget is ~£1000, however i'm not sure if it would be best for his money to upgrade his current build and save some money, or create a completely new one from scratch. He uses his PC mostly for gaming. He currently has a 1080p/60hz display, but is looking to get a new monitor, however if he does, it comes out of his £1000 budget He already has KB+M He wants to run recent games as well as he can by spending his money as smartly as he can Thanks for the help in advance
  10. I was planning on upgrading and getting a new monitor, but it is not part of my budget, as i was hoping that during black Friday the price may go down significantly enough so that a 1440p/144HZ G-sync monitor may be <£350
  11. Hey everyone, Planning on building a new PC with a budget of around £1200 All I have right now is a 1080p/60hz monitor, and literally nothing else.
