I really want 8k to be pushed so that the prices for quality 4k displays become cheap.

Display manufacturers are trying to get us to spend money on HDR and other features that aren't fully supported... Just give us those pixels and everything else will follow.  Except internet speeds.

i I don't want to think about trying to stream 8k content with some of these ISPs.

"Old-ass", sir. "Old ass doomsayers" would either imply old doomsayers talking about ass-destruction or doomsayers talking about old ass; not a pleasant thought. Also, you can report the OP for "theme" issues and a moderator will edit the post.

On topic: I'd probably have my child fill his time with social computer use such as playing a meaningful game, such as an RTS or story-based RPG. This should provide an incentive to grab a dictionary or allow the child to hone his contextual skills. I think the biggest barrier in schools is an ineffective approach at learning how the children learn. I was never one to play football or hand-egg (fite me, kiwis and fellow 'muricans!) and much preferred to while away my time at the library or TCG club. Twas tough as an introvert, but I was happily talkative when engaged in a fun activity. My accounting and math teacher in high school saw me playing at the badminton club and asked if I'd like to play for the tennis team. I agreed to help the girls' team with their season while reinforcing my own play-style and had tons of fun and talked to plenty of men and women despite introversion. Spring came and the boys' tennis season started and I was an ace(!) for the junior-varsity singles group.

Fun fact: I actually became interested in grammar, linguistics, and writing because of Pokemon and Dragon Quest.

Alternative solution. Force font colors to 'automatic' and require users to change it manually.

elkenrod got a reaction from Walt in 'recording' to nvme SSD Overwatch
I don't know that recording to an SSD is "bad" per se.  Perhaps if your SSD is small and space is a concern.   All of the conversations regarding SSDs being bad for recording that I have seen are referencing older SSD tech.

Some perspective is key.  If someone said in 2015 that AMD would be competitive in both cpu AND gpu performance by 2017 we would call them a crazy person.

AMD has fixed their cpu problem. Let them generate some cash, and I'm sure they can do better on the gpu front.  Cpu performance is and should be the priority as it's going to secure their future.

I know it's kinda first world to take perfectly working CPUs and turn them into art, especially as one of the CPUs used is still kinda respected, but I decided to make another art piece, and seeing as how these are starting to not look really shitty (this one is literally held together with hot glue and cardboard) I took an Intel Pentium 4 530, an i5 750 and an i5 3570K (all delidded with their IHS under them) and put it on a card. What do you guys think of this? I'm torn between things I kinda wanted to do and a more simplistic elegant look. As far as I know all these chips still work. but the Pentium 4 went through a lot of processes to do that to it, and it also has some almost missing pads so it probably won't work.

I've had this happen.  In my case, it was one of the usb devices I had connected that was holding things up. It was happening in both windows and Linux.

If you have a ton of usb hubs and devices attached, try disconnecting some, or try different ports.

    hope that helps.

Second only important stuff. Plus i have several external HDD's for offline backup. So yeah, 0 cloud. They cannot be trusted...

    I'd much rather purchase 2 or 3 1080p displays.

These are going to be too expensive to be worth it.  This is going to approach the price of a solid 4k monitor, which makes no sense to buy into right now.

I'll be honest. I was more busy doing his "do a push up every time I say HDR" challenge rather than listening hard to the video

But from what I could gather Dmitry had the same monitor in office or he checked the monitor settings at the presentation, either or, and he could say for sure that the settings were changed from stock (gamma was reduced for instance)

elkenrod reacted to Kevo05s in Looking for a good desk for a Tri-Monitor Setup (plz halp)
Best solution would be to get a monitor stand. that way, you technically dont need as much space since a monitor can completely overhang, and it wont matter. Also, the L-shape desk is good since you can put your laptop on the side

You don't need 3 165Hz monitors. Get 1 of those and 2 cheap IPS 27" monitors. That'll be close to $600-$700 cheaper.
You can get a much cheaper Motherboard.
