Bent pin and Broken Pin Head on Motherboard CPU socket.
BigD360 replied to Thermaltakee's topic in Troubleshooting
CPU is probably fine. I did somehing similar to a LGA1155 motherboard I had my 2500k in and the processor is still 100% fine. Mobo is a dust collector though unless you can find someone who can transplant a socket. That ain't cheap though. -
Need Help with motherboard change?

I think my only other suggestion would be to try resetting the CMOS. That's all I got. -

Well, I'm at a loss. It sounds like you've done everything and I don't think it's faulty hardware, so I have no clue. Sorry I can't be more help. -

Also, after reinstalling windows, did you reactivate it with your product key? If not that's deffinitely the problem. Windows will read a new motherboard as a totally new computer and you might have to call MS to activate your key. -

I really can't say anything for sure. Silly question but did you reapply thermal paste to the cpu? What are your temps like? Is your cpu cooler on properly? -
Need Help with motherboard change?
BigD360 replied to True1q2w's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
My best guess would still be that it's driver related. It could also be that it's simply a lower quality board but I can't really say if you don't know what it is. Maybe double check your bios and make sure everything is set right? It's a long shot but maybe your GPU's PCIE slot is running at less than x16 or x8? I'm just spit balling here. -

Did you do a fresh install of your OS after the mobo change? Your system may be getting confused with drivers, I've had that after swapping different Asus x99 motherboards. -
Maybe a local shop? Buy another, if it keeps shutting off with the new PSU, you know it's something else. Then return for full.

If you haven't changed anything software or hardware since yesterday, that makes me think even more that it's the power supply. I don't doubt that at all but sometimes parts just go bad before they should. If you can, swap it with another before RMAing it or tossing just to be sure.
-
I don't think it's a software problem if thats what you're hoping for. Though you could try a clean install of Windows to be sure.

I'd say it's likely the PSU as well. Either that or maybe you have a damaged pin on your CPU socket?

iMac Pro vs. High End Build?

Interesting. Thats fair enough! I sincerely hope you decide on a custom build, they're always worth the while. -
iMac Pro vs. High End Build?
BigD360 replied to jaysangwan32's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
The custom build you have there is basically top of the line so yeah, it'll blow the mac away for games, hands down. I just have to say one thing about your parts list; why do you have two separate 16GB kits of TridentZ instead of one 32GB kit? -
