when you say short i automatically think a electrical discharge, you don't mean that right? I've got major paranoia due to my last computer problem. My 5 year old setup ended up having my 980ti burn up and burning my motherboard, i still don't know the cause of that and people suggested it could be my extension lead i'm using so now i'm scared it might of done the same, but like i said i'm paranoid.
i really don't want to dissemble the entire pc, i hate the though of this. I mean if I'm playing games as of now without problems, can it be really that much of a problem?
I'll check the case in the morning when there's light. Which cable is more likely to be the issue here? the 24 pin connecter? seems every cable on the mobo is fully secure, i checked them all and reseated ram too. however my psu is inclose, so i need to remove back panel tomorrow and check the cables there, but surely if they are loose the pc wouldn't even be on, i don't get how a knock from the panel door would hard freeze.
thanks for your reply!
