They are trying to help you by telling you to go and have a look in the BIOS.

At 1333MHz your memory is rated at 9-9-9-24 so i would not advise tightning that up to 8-8-8-24. Although, you can give it a try and then run memtest86+ to looks for error. But you will not get a performance boost from doing that, at least not a noticeable performance boost.

i5 + ssd all the way. Or Xeon E3-1231 V3 if you have a dedicated graphics card and dont plan to overclock.

SSDs are not a luxury, any PC without one is low-end. No matter what other components.

lol, well that was interesting. In anycase, I'm gonna agree that it is the cooler due to decent idle temps.  as such, ill grab a h110 and it will be great for when I get that 4790k in a few months.

Thanks for all the help, and rage. it made me smile

Buy the i7.  You are going for a serious rig, get a serious processor to match.  Not that the i5-4690k isn't serious, but I would definitely splurge for the i7 in your situation.

Might I make a few recommendations though:
Motherboard, go for the Asus Z97-AR.
CPU Cooler, don't get the H100i, it has a lot of problems and is not guaranteed to work out of the box without issue, and even then, it is loud.  Go for the Cooler Master Nepton 240M.  Silent pump, nearly silent fans, same price.
Unless you are doing something very serious other than gaming, don't buy a black drive.  A Seagate barracuda or Western Digital Blue is just fine,

Your hardware will only cause FPS to drop when thermal throttling kicks in on the CPU or GPU which will usually be at 95C.

MatadorZA got a reaction from WildCAt in Overclocking i5 46X0K?
If you are going with a K series i5, make sure to get the 4690k. The 4670k has some IHS issues (same as Ivy Bridge) which is corrected in the 4690k (Devils Canyon). Meaning that the 4690k will give you more overclocking headroom as it runs about 10C cooler: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8227/devils-canyon-review-intel-core-i7-4790k-and-i5-4690k/2
