  1. You could free up a bit of $ by going with a 3600 or lower, and cheaper motherboard. Also, generic cases have gotten pretty damn good, many $50-60 cases are fully functioned and a joy to build in.
  2. I just picked up a card, and will install it later today. So odds are, I'll be answering my own question later, but maybe y'all can add more depth and possibly more information from more titles and engines. I know the 6xxx series takes a huge performance hit when ray tracing is set to Ultra or equivalent. All reviews I found test many games but all at this high RT setting. My question is this: What is the performance hit when set to Low or Medium? Is there appreciable quality improvements at these settings? The only RT games I'll be playing soon [like current drivers soon] is Control and Cyberpunk, how do these games/engines in particular perform at these settings with this card?
  3. I was deciding between the Asrock B550m Pro4 ($110), Gigabyte B550m Aorus Pro ($120), and Asrock B550m Steel Legend ($150). Prices have likely changed since then, but this was at a microcenter in early August. Ending up going with the Aorus Pro for the IO, VRM and price, plus my bios and software (A-Tuning) experience with my ab350m Pro4 was kind of a turnoff. I've also heard great things about the MSI B550m-VDH.
  4. I learned the hard way, after losing a dozen or so WU, that F@H does not like overclocks at all.
  5. something great happened in the last 12hrs, I was pulling about 600kppd [can do about 1.1m but bad work units, lack of wu kept me down], but this morning says I've gotten 37 wu's done and 1.4m points, and just finished another 2 for about another 125k
  6. Just put my loans in forbearance, probably a bad time to get another but there's $80 580's local...
  7. since I took your advice and put my vega to stock turbo, it hasn't dropped a WU
  8. 02:46:05:WU02:FS01:0x22:Bad State detected... attempting to resume from last good checkpoint. Is your system overclocked? I'm getting a good amount of these but only with projects 11744, 11748 and 11779. Other projects work fine. Anyone else have trouble with these or is it really my oc?
  9. According to stats.foldingathome.org my last work unit completed was 3/27, but my logs in advanced control show quite a few units completed, sent, and acknowledged since then. Is this a known issue?
  10. My point was that that build was going to be more than 735. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3NQmGG 883 w/o case or windows license, let alone peripherals.
  11. Where on earth is that build going to be 735? Or are you moving some old parts into your new build?
  12. If you're going to be gaming, I'd snag a 2200g and then put the savings towards a 1050ti.
  13. Why C#? There's a right tool for every task, and C# simply isn't the one for visually demanding software. I'm inclined to recommend OpenGL (ES).
  14. Your's is 20 pin. You need 24 pin if you want to be able to power the gpu through the pci-e. Also it looks like your cpu fan header is plugged in upside down.
  15. 780ti w/ 6+gb please. Mine does amazing at 1255mhz clock and 7110mhz ram, but I'd really like just a bit more memory for textures. Then I would have 0 reason to upgrade.
  16. I suppose there is some vdroop, still manage to get 3.8 @ bios set 1.25625 though!
  17. LOL I actually have the ab350m Pro4, no vdroop to report either. Do you have cstates and coolnquiet turned off?
  18. Holy poop, my 1600 is rock stable 3.8ghz @ 1.25625v, and 1.325v gets me 3.85ghz.
  19. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/RGjypg Any input appreciated.
  20. I'd update the old one to w10. All of these approaches might cause some driver issues though. Reinstalling is the best bet. I want my clean install to be clean after all.
