  1. Of course there's no guarantee, however, I've done this type of thing countless times at my old job, and only once did I have problems when swapping out the CPU/Motherboard. I even have a friend who went from an AMD setup to Intel and his system ran flawlessly. It seems that I'm so close to it working properly, and though I would obviously have a much higher chance of everything working flawlessly by performing a fresh install, I'd prefer to try and fix whatever problem there is with device detection or the usb controller as well as whatever problem there is with shutting down. If nobody can help me fix that, then I'll perform a clean install soon.
  2. I'll try setting to default settings, the only bios settings I changed was boot order and turning on XMP. Edit: Tried this, no difference with problems
  3. Just went from my z97 board with a 4790k to a z370 board with 8700k. Same windows install on the same drive. 2 problems: USB devices are not detected while the machine is running - for instance, plugging in my webcam while the PC is running does nothing, however, if the webcam is plugged in on boot, it works perfectly. PC does not shut down properly - Restart causes it to hang on the "Restarting..." screen of windows indefinitely, shutdown results in going to the "Shutting Down..." screen and then all displays are shut off but the PC is still on indefinitely. I downloaded the Intel Chipset Driver here, but the installation hangs at about half way and messes things up, the installer becomes unresponsive and must be closed, then I must reboot to use the PC again. Don't know what to do, I'd prefer not to make a fresh install of windows because my internet is slow as hell! EDIT: Nevermind, just doing a fresh install I give up
  4. Oh, I assumed they were different, thank you!
  5. Okay, but assuming I buy a z370 and a new cpu/ddr4 to go with it, my Corsair closed water cooler should still work since it’s lga1150 right? nevermind
  6. My z97 board is broken, I can’t find anywhere to buy z97 boards anymore. I see that z370 still uses lga1150 socket, so will my 4770k still work in that board with DDR3? Or will I have to get a new cpu and ddr4 as well?
  7. Looking for help with shopping for the right audio setup. Have Sennheiser PC350 headset, the padding has become so worn down that it makes a very weak seal and noise cancelling is reduced to a point that audio quality is affected. This can only be remedied by pressing the headset tightly onto my head. The built in microphone has also just recently started producing a high pitched whining noise at all times, and the in-line mute function hasn't worked in over a year. I really want a new audio solution fast, and I'm really out of touch with what to shop for these days. My budget is flexible, could potentially spend up to $300 for an entire setup but I'd prefer to go for a more cost-effective option. I have looked at a few different options, from these AKG's or these Sennheiser's with a ModMic 4, to an Audio-Technica Headphones + ModMic bundle, or just another Sennheiser Headset that's nearly identical to the one I have now that feels pretty ruined after 3 years. Just looking for opinions on what I'm looking at, or for any ideas about better solutions. I'd like to buy an entry level real microphone in the future, like a Blue Yeti with a shock mount and pop filter, but that's more than I'm willing to invest in at the immediate moment. Edit: I'll specify that I'm looking for headphones with better noise-cancellation and bass response than what I currently have, so I think that means I should be looking for over-ear and closed-back. Also just asked some friends and they recommended Sennheiser HD558 or 598, but I can't seem to find the right place to buy them or a reliable price. Also interested in possibly using a DAC like this one. Edit 2: Anyone like these or the DT 770, 880 versions?
  8. I was already going to be replacing my rear case fan because it would tend to rattle a little bit and sometimes stop. I should have taken that as a sign that it might not even be spinning fast enough to actually blow air in any direction in my case. Already bought a new fan that should be coming and this should improve the thermal performance of my card. Thanks @NowThatsDamp!
  9. I actually just decided to run the same test with Furmark while the case is open. Already I'm running cooler, faster, with more power delivery. I definitely have a problem with my case airflow. I'm gonna try to flip one of my fans around in my case to see if I can improve this.
  10. So have you replaced your thermal paste or done any other modification to reach that level of performance? Or is that how the stock card has run for this many years? Perhaps there's an issue with my case cooling...
  11. Runs at 1333mhz at 65c while at maximum load? That sounds insane compared to what I'm getting. I'm not referring to idle temperatures, I'm talking about the performance I'm getting while running Furmark for 5 minutes straight.
  12. Recently my friend with a 780ti was having problems with crashing in a lot of games, our mutual friend suggested he try to downclock his card, so he did and it caused him to stop crashing, despite the fact that his card was never reaching over 85c. This caused me to become curious about the state of my own 780ti, which has had 0 problems with performance or stability as far as I could see. However, I noticed that my card would run considerably hotter, up to 95c while playing my games. We went back and forth about whether or not there is a problem with my card, I decided to look at it physically and see if there was a lot of dust on it, and as far as I could see there was basically no dust at all, even inbetween the heatsink fins. We decided I should run Furmark for a few minutes and review the results (see attached) It never went over 98c, never throttled the core clock, but also never was able to boost up to the ~1130Mhz standard boost frequency. So, my questions are: Is my card in danger despite not showing any signs of failure? Should I make a bigger effort to clean my card or even replace the factory thermal paste to increase thermal performance? Should I be expecting to reach that ~1130 boost clock or even higher frequencies even while running something as demanding as Furmark?
  13. could you maybe point me in the right direction for this? I wasn't able to just get the update by connecting through wifi
  14. see my edit, I spelled "i-n-e-t-c-p-l" as "i-n-c-e-t-c-p-l" I did the internet explorer reset like you said, and it didn't change or fix anything. EDIT: I also checked the proxy settings and they are set to automatically detect
