im just stating that we have gained alot, and we are gaining more with those vendor features, that always were present, and always will be. but sooner or later, an agnostic API implements them well enough so that they become irrelevant and vendors stop developing them. Its always like this, the newest is proprietary. (mantle, gameworks, physx) but it always comes into general use (dx12/vulcan, UE's physics engine, Havok, etc)
