  1. I just watched the WAN show, I always do but never catch them live and have watched LTT for a long time. As somebody who is pro right to repair, I really like the Framework laptop. It's legit what right to repair is all about AND the biggest deal it was a completive viable product at a attractive price point. The only thing to bring them right down is the question are they going to around in 5 years to be able to upgrade things like the CPU/battery/screen. Linus combining his magic powers of being a living meme with their hardware just made me think boy I wonder who will play Luke when they make a movie about the beginning of the LinusTop Empire haha. Linus having been very vocal about his morals about sponsor spots and just honest in general for all these years through thousands of videos, I think having the moral clauses and he will pull out and it will be very public breakup just will build consumer confidence and be one of two things that will make it in the bag the company will stick around and succeed. The second thing that will make it in the bag LinusFrame will succeed is....the meme of every single time a laptop is near Linus he will make it a meme to disclose hes affiliated with this way more awesome laptop company. I mean other YouTubers plug lttstore.com all the time now. In the techtube space the reviews all the others. I mean if you can get a Tesla logo lasered on one on it you know a big channel like MKHB would review it. Give a pink one to iJustine as a Sorry for Jeopardy. Just would blow other laptops YouTube coverage out of the water. But handoff or make a seperate laptop review channel, Alex does alot of them now anyways and he does good. Alex/James combo in a recent video worked well. Also theres difference between a review and a fun sponsor spot. Like when you have used sponsors laptops in scrapyard wars, I don't think there's any issue as long as you drop the meme I own a awesome laptop company disclosure. I do think with the LapLinus merging, Linus would keep things that could get whacky on track like io swap card thingys and force things like a really good Ethernet, thunderbolt ect. Also I don't think there's anyway if Linus was involved with them he wouldnt forcefully suggest make some way to hook a big honking gpu to it.....or 6. And prolly make a HTPC out it. It is a big risk for LTT YouTube. But for Right to Repair and just being exactly the kind of company I really want badly to buy a laptop from I can see it could be a real fairy tale of a success story. I was all for The Wall because it was fun and insane but tossing that money towards Framework is a much better crazy and fun idea. Also it's putting your money where you mouth is, Linus has done alot of being real about issues some of these products have.
  2. I just got done installing the Windows october update and adjusted the scalling on my triple monitor setup and was shocked when it changed just one monitor so it looks like they fixed it
  3. Something on the SSD side, theres a gb min spec for putting games on. I thought I was being clever putting a 120gb SSD in a usb 3.0 external I had lying around, Xbox says no storage needs to be 480gb minimum, so I bought a cheap one on sale. Its well worth the money having one for the better load times.
  4. I've used windows since 3.1. I can honestly say I've had far less update issues/issues in general on Win 10 than any other windows. Win 8 in particular seemed really deadset on installing and rebooting while I'm using the PC more than any other windows version. Are you going to have issues with any OS, yes. But its more about how breaking the issues are, I havnt had any issues on win 10 that have stopped me working for a day. Win 7 it was a every couple months I would get conflicts with office updates that would make the PC unusable. I would have sleep issues when my pc wouldnt wake on win 7, those dont happen on win 10 for me. The real deal is this happens with every version of windows, come out with win 95, people complain its not as good as 3.1. Come out with 7 people complain its not as good as xp. and it goes on and on. High res and 4k monitors always have sucked on windows because of the scaling. You can pump it up and get it good, but running dual monitors in the first place is outside of the normal use case running a 4k screen and something like a 1080p dual monitor setup your even further from the normal person use case Microsoft generally designs for. Not knocking on multimonitor guys, I have a triple monitor ultra wide setup on my desk. Just more pointing out once you get into that realm its more issues caused by you and not so much Microsoft. We are doing things outside of what 99.9% of windows users do.
  5. I think its more of a everybody screwed up. MS with the update, I think Nvidia shipped the cards too early, Developers still learning how to use ray tracing and DLSS. I also think the cards are better broken up then grouped together in a 2000 series free for all. The 2080ti is the one thats had issues and is also the most expensive. The 2080s are in the middle. The 2070(specifically the OC versions with the better dies) are where I think it gets interesting, You can really debate that card against everything from a 1070 up to a 1080ti and aroundabout to Vega cards. And the answer is always preference. And thats without us being able to really see how the Tensor cores and AI cores preform/what they actually do.
  6. Ive got the gigabyte 2070 OC version in my rig with Ryzen 7 1700 16gb ram. I haven't tried Battlefield 5 yet but I play shadows of the tomb raider and really like their benchmark. So why I like their benchmark is it shows how much your gpu bound by. Stock 1700 I'm at about 34% gpu bound, overclocked I can get it as high as 68%. The difference your seeing is probably from them using something like a 8700k and not a Ryzen CPU. The other thing that I doubt they did but its worth watching is which 2070 they are testing, if its a OC card its a different die and different clocks which WILL get a decent amount more frames
  7. Hadn't though of selling the 16gb in there, good call. I might go that route and have this be a cheap upgrade Those old Dell workstations are beasts compared to normal Dells. I have a old xeon one here. Its really not too bad for the price, I see it as at current prices I bought a Ryzen 1700 and 580 and got the rest for free. It is impressive its got a dell made 370 mobo with slots for NVME and M.2. that was a welcome surprise.
  8. So I just got this guy open box at best buy for 750(during a sale) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-desktop-amd-ryzen-7-1700-16gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-580-1tb-hard-drive-recon-blue/5948598.p?skuId=5948598. I wanted to build my own,but miners and money. Ryzen 1700 RX580 I already installed a NVME SSD. I do MS Office, some 3d modeling(for 3d printing) and VR Games. So it has 16gbs 2400mz of RAM, but its a single stick. I know thats the biggest nerf to the rig right now, I've seen the charts of how bad a idea single channel memory on a Ryzen system is. So it looks like I have two options, I see refurbished 16gb dell sticks are $200 which would bring me up to 32gbs. I also see for about the same price I could get 16gb of aftermarket ram with much faster speeds. Do you guys think I'm better sticking with dell RAM and having 32gbs of slower ram or 16gbs of faster RAM?
  9. I have a 580 8gb and a ryzen 1700 16gb ram. I've got 51 VR games in my steam library and none of them are really pushing my gpu. If they have graphics settings I go up to the max. Please note I'm using a Dell Windows Mixed reality headset, not a rift or vive. Most Vr games are meant to be run on 1050's. So a 580 is more than good enough
