thexzenon reacted to LAwLz in As cheap as new raytracing go - RTX 3050 reviews
I feel like "scalping" has lost its meaning these days.
Scaling no longer means "buying something with the intention of selling it for a higher price when availability is poor". Now it means "selling something at a higher price than I am willing to pay".
I'm gonna start complaining that Bugatti are scalping their cars.

thexzenon got a reaction from poochyena in PS5 Showcase: Prices/Dates Revealed + God of War 2 Teaser
Makes sense from their point of view. They want to lock people into their digital store and $450 would be be too tempting for a lot of people.

Custom as in an AMD chip built specifically for them or custom as in A-series for macs? Cause the latter would be useless and kill the mac line-up.

thexzenon got a reaction from Taf the Ghost in Apple Nearly Worth 1 Trillion Dollars
People need to keep in mind. Being worth 1 trillion dollars does not mean they actually have that much in cash reserves, those are different things and some of those who commented seem to not understand this.
OT: As someone who doesn’t own stock, I dont’t really care, but damn that’s a large number

thexzenon got a reaction from mrchow19910319 in Vega 64 MSRP increases [updated]
Why on earth would anyone pay $100 more for a Vega 64 when the 1080 beats it (albeit not by much) and consumes half the power?
Also please fix the quotes for the night theme users.

Specs comparison:
In terms of gaming performance Vega 56 trades blows with the GTX 1070 and Vega 64 does the same with the GTX 1080. The problem however is that Vega 56 draws more power than the GTX 1080 and a liquid cooled Vega 64 draws nearly twice the wattage of a 1080. The air-cooled Vega 64 also seems to throttle more than the other GPUs (56, 1070, 1080).
When it comes to noise levels, AMD seems to have tweaked their cooler (some say it's slightly larger) which results in better noise levels when compared to the Fury X, but still a bit louder under load than nVidia's Frontier Founder's Edition. Temperatures look to be marginally higher on the Vega 64 compared to the GTX 1080, but the Vega 56 seems to run cooler than the GTX 1070.
Basically, GTX 1080 has a slight advantage in terms of performance, but is a lot more efficient than the Vega 64. I guess AMD will sell a lot more Vega 56s than 64s anyway and that GPU actually looks good, having a slight edge when compared to the GTX 1070 (ignoring efficiency). Too bad it took AMD one full year to release these cards.
