    Thanks everyone for the reply’s

I tested a short new wire while setting my laptop next to the router and that didn’t have any drops so yeah it’s the cable.
     Ordered outdoor rated cable

2nd-gen quad cores (i5's and i7's) can do light esports stuff, - Rocket League, Dota, etc. The i7's can borderline hang in more demanding stuff at 1080/60 with settings turned down. The dual-core i3's are basically e-waste.

Are you contemplating trying to build a bunch of these and then sell them as gaming machines? A Sandy/Ivy Bridge quad core with a 1050 in it isn't worth more than a couple hundred bucks and 1050's go for ~$75 on eBay currently so I seriously doubt you can get these parts in large numbers at a low enough price for this to be profitable.

Hm… 2nd/3rd gen Intel? That would be a 4040 and 8008, right? Don't think they would be worth anything anymore… 😛

Assuming you mean 2nd/3rd gen Core-Family CPUs… I had an i5-3570K until a short while ago combined with an RX 480. Was still fine to play many games, but it was certainly getting long in the tooth.

I mean, I am currently running an i7-2600 with a gtx 780, everything works just fine for my usecase, which is light gaming and programming. Keep in mind that these CPUs require DDR3 RAM, which is slower than modern DDR4 or DDR5 modules. Also, as they are older, they are not as power effective, so you will need to pay more for electricity. (depends of course)

They should keep up with a 1050, especially if you're looking at K chips and Z motherboards. But if you do get a better GPU later down the road, they will seriously show their age, especially the 4c/4t i5s (the 4c/8t i7s hold up better). Are there no reasonably priced 1st/2nd gen Ryzens to be had? Zen/Zen+ weren't phenomenal, but they will beat out mainstream Sandy/Ivy chips.
Paired with a 1050 I think it'd keep up though no? The 1050 is extremely not-fast as well.

The i7's for gaming are like borderline ok enough to keep getting 60fps. But it's like very close to not being able to do it. So no don't get these for gaming they are barely capable and very soon wont be capable enough for it.

I agree, if your plan is to just wipe the whole drive anyways, just preform a clean install. There are dozens of tutorials that can walk you through the process. You'll also likely find your system performance will increase a touch if you do the clean install as well.

I recently got an M.2 Drive for a prebuilt of mine since the PC came with the OS on a Hard Drive. What I did was completely unplug my stock HDD with the Windows OS on it (after backing everything up and extracting my Windows key of course) then putting in the M.2 drive and installing Windows via the instillation media tool you can get for free on Microsoft's website. I then set the boot order to boot off of the SSD first, and once I did that it just started using the SSD to boot into Windows. All I had to do from there is just wipe the HDD and have a clean slate. Only took an afternoon of work, not hard especially in the era of YouTube.

With all this in mind, a Reset isn't a bad option, just seems like since you're here you might as well reinstall windows. Don't be scared to do a reinstallation, we're always here if you need help.

I'm not against cloning or doing Windows resets, but I still prefer a nice, clean install.
With a decent modern computer a reinstall to working windows is 10mins. Extract Windows key, do the Windows install, run windows updates, run your favorite driver installer (I like driver booster 9 free) and install the applications you need/want. That way you know you aren't' carrying anything over from your old build.

Why do you want to do a reset?
If it's because you are having issues, you'd probably want to do a fresh install of Windows.

You can always use the free version of Macrium Reflect to clone the drive.

then don't bother and a repeater won't help since you have a good connection. unfortunately you are stuck with that unless you use an ethernet cable

Yeah, like I said, bad adapter. There is no such thing as a well-built, high quality video adapter. If you buy 10 of them, 1 will be DOA, 4 will die within the next 6 months and 3 more will go within a year.

All the same, what part of the world are you in?

Same happened to me with my HDMI switch after i upgraded to Turing,
I think that we need to upgrade to adaptors that match the hdmi/Display port standards of our GPUs.

So time to grab a new HDMI switch with the newest fastest HDMI standard

Well, I am definitely not driving to the UAE with a monitor to troubleshoot. The hub you linked there looks an awful lot like one I've used for a couple of years now without ever having a problem, but I've only used it to convert DP to VGA.

I have a razer ripsaw capture card, i use it to view consoles from windows and honestly i don't perceive much or any latency and been running this setup for years. i would think the elgato would be better since its running PCIE instead of USB 3

that depends on you and what you feel comfortable with tbh. (what tempretures you dont want exceed etc.) try doing some stress tests and see what tempretures reaches before they have a chance to cool it. if its too high for you you can start them earlier and if its good you can keep them etc.
as for positions you need to look out for dead spots (areas where fans work against each other) best way to find them is to get incense sticks they are cheap and easy to come buy. they will produce smoke and put one againts the intake fan and see how the air moves.
