Caennanu got a reaction from Casual Cube in Can a bad/failing PSU cause software issues?
A powersupply can not directly cause software to fail. However, software is nothing more than a set of instructions to execute and expect a return on the execution. When the execution becomes corrupted, which CAN happen due to power issues, the software will fail depending on the severity. So yes, a malfunctioning powersupply can and will cause hardware and thus software to perform suboptimal.

If you want to compare it to a real life situation. Say you're driving on a road, a road needs to be paved right? Well, over time the pavement starts to deteriorate and cause pudholes. Now see the road as your power delivery. Where when it was all new you had no pudholes that could damage your car (software) you now, 7 years later, have many pudholes which can, but not always will, damage your car.

    Thanks a ton, this helped.
Basically what it comes down to . . . treat the AP's as a Vlan aware switch.
Then instead of configuring the AP itsself, you do that from the app.
Just got to remember that all the vlan's are actually tagged for the AP's you want them to forward.

I personally always go for ethernet whenever possible. Simply because it is more stable. Problem with wifi is that you might need to overcome windows and walls, let alone ceilings / floors.

But it also depends on what it is that you need. if you're ok with a bit more latency and a drop in download speed, than go for it.

I was able to find the RX 580 for a reasonable price on PXC.com so I decided to go for it. They have jus ta few GPUs on their site for a reasonable price, but all are relatively budget ones, and the higher end ones are the ones with way jacked up prices.

On a serious note tho. I'm geussing hardware acceleration with Teams is turned on, and for some reason Teams decides to do somethin with graphics or webcam.

turn off hardware acceleration in teams and see if it has any effects.

A simple snapshot doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. The CPU usage isn't too high, but it might still negatively affect the latency of the game's workload.

As you can see, Teams is also using a fair amount of RAM, which might mean the game has to swap in/out assets from memory more often than usual, which might explain the stutters.

Ended up buying this while I wait out the shortages, and when I can upgrade I'll chuck it in my parent's cheap home computer so it's not wasted as I plan to also buy and install an SSD for them as their hard drive is sooooo slow

Caennanu got a reaction from amdroyt in need help with router
You say this happened after you did cable management. But there really is a plethora of reasons why this could happen. Things i would check are the following:

    1. Check link speed via windows adapter settings
     - if this is 100Mbits, redo the cable untill it states its 1Gbits
    2. check if both computer and router are set to 'Full Duplex'
    3. Check if router itsself has a proper connection to the internet
     - you may have to call your ISP for this
    4. even tho unlikely, check if your ethernet cable isn't running alongside too much cables that can cause interference (most notably powercables with switching power supplies attached, one of the worst switching powersupplies are christmaslights for example)

Little late here. If your looking for a free alternative I'd suggest Emby, or if your more into open source jellyfin. Emby is a freemiem software meaning that for most of it it's free but there are some cool features locked behind a pay wall. Jellyfin on the other hand is completely open source. It's a bit harder to get used to for me but there is no money involved anywhere.

    Gday Scottie,

I feel your pain, i have been struggling with the same question, and eventually came to the conclusion i'm sticking with 2 seperate builds.

The main reason is that there is always a tradeoff in dual system cases. A Dual PSU with a Dual system case is near impossible to obtain (or so it seems), which means you'll have to buy a dual system psu. With a 3080 in the planning, that also means the 1000watt version won't be enough, so getting the phanteks 1600 will cost quite a bit, i think i would have to pay almost 300 bucks for it.

Next to the cost of this, eventually you will also run into issues with expansion. especally in the storage section.

If you don't care about the budget and just want to stick with the 4 hdd's you currently have, a phanteks revoltx 1600w, with an enthoo 2 could work.

You can combine multiple physical network interfaces into a single logical interface (teaming/bonding/link aggregation).  Bonding a wired and wireless interface makes a dandy seamless failover, but isn't going to increase your data throughput in most circumstances.

true, for your use case than it isnt worth it as there really isnt much benefit beyond the managed users and dvr (the live tv has a few chanels but they are mainly stuff you will never use, fail army is there though, probably the only chanel on there lol, but you could just watch that on youtube)

Just to make sure I read correctly, same thing was happening while recording too? Or was the recording just with certain codec? If so, then the reason might be server-side compression/encoding. And with recording the write speed of the drive.

Also moved to Programs, Apps and Websites. Reason is that streaming is more often about software and services than games being streamed.

    as other stated, it depends.
Most times people upgrading want most out of their old hardware to be able to afford the next tier.
Then you have the enthusiast who doesn't care and just has to have it. he most likely won't actually get rid of old card either and just shelve it, ya know, just incase the new one dies

when opening sound settings, down at the bottom is advanced sound settings.
there you can set the sound device per application.

in order to set them, the application has to send an audio signal, soon as it sends that it should pop up there.

Caennanu got a reaction from Ben17 in Do GPU braces work?
I've never had to use a gpu brace, sure the cards can sag a bit but generally it works just fine long as you don't move the case (often).
And thus i cannot spreak from experience so i will stick to theory.

The reason a card sags is because it does not have enough strength / support caused by a weight to length ratio.
Using the brackets you suggested would suffer from exactly the same. Sure you will brace the card as you add some rigidity, but essentially your gpu technically has more support than the brace itsself. (comming from the pcie slot on the other end)

If you are wanting to brace your gpu i would look for a sollution like @191x7 suggested, where you would use the vertical strength to brace your gpu, as your gpu is experiencing the weight load in that same direction. I do however not recommend getting any type of support that is conductive of nature (nothing steel or copper, let alone any wire types) to prevent shifting and causing shorts.
