  1. I want something with a touch screen, keyboard with firmer keys, at least 256g ssd, 7 + hour battery life, and responsive to use. I have a tablet that takes upwards of 3 minutes to load web pages. So i'm hesitant to go with the tablet + keyboard option. This may not be reverent, but I will not have a desktop anymore. I need this product to last me at least 4 years because i plan on participating in a study abroad program and i don't want to have to purchase a new computer before im finished with that program. I have found some good reviews on the product but im not sure if i should just go with a super bare bones option and save even more so it doesnt sting as much if it craps out early, or if there is a serious build quality difference on a higher end product that warrants paying $1000-$1300 for what looks like an i7 8 more gigs of ram and a larger ssd. Thanks to all of you for your investment thus far; your opinions are valued.
  2. I went to Micro Center looking to get a laptop for school. I went in planning to get an LG Gram or a Dell XPS 13, but they didn't have the combination of features i wanted; namely, a touch screen, at least 256g ssd for as close to 1000 as possible. I after looking at the different options i grabbed a Lenovo ideapad flex 5 1470. Its got an i5 but I don't need it for any engineering programs, photo or video editing. As far as i can tell i only need it to take notes and type papers on, and maybe watch a video on YouTube. All of the features seem on the lighter side but the with tax total was about $710. I have not opened the box yet because i wanted to be a little more certain this was a good deal, and not just a junky laptop that i will have to replace an hour after the warranty is up. Are the Dell XPS 13 and LG Gram options that much better considering they are $400+? How significant is an i7 on a laptop? Any input or experience with any of the products is appreciated. Link is the product i purchased http://www.microcenter.com/product/484954/Flex_5_14_2-in-1_Laptop_Computer_-_Black
  3. I was playing pubg on ultra and my GPU was at 70c plus or minus, and my CPU was 49 plus or minus. GPU usage was at 99% with small quick dips into the 80s and 70s. CPU usage was 68% but was fluctuating much more. These temps don't seem to be anything special and if my pc never got any louder id probably just keep my money, but once i start overclocking wont the fans speed up to compensate for the extra heat? Should i overclock first and see how loud everything is while bench-marking ?
  4. Just got a new build and im looking to put some new fans in the case and possibly on the CPU radiator. I don't use my PC as a work station but i do like gaming on the highest possible settings and im looking to start overclocking once i get the new fans. I doubt i will have serious cooling problems but id like to find a nice balance between cooling effectiveness and a quite system. Current config on the fans is two intake on the front, one exhaust in the back and the radiator is top mounted and also intake. Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition CPU cooler: Corsair H100i v2 CPU: i5-7600k MoBo: Maximus IX hero Graphics: 1080TI strix Monitor: AOC Agon AG271QG 27 I've done a bit of reading and narrowed it down to these three, but my search was far from exhaustive so if anyone has another recommendation i'd appreciate the input. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G5I6O4Q/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i1?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pd_rd_i=B01G5I6O4Q&pd_rd_r=4a6b631d-b2f6-11e7-9a26-7f39ad097ad7&pd_rd_w=V6yer&pd_rd_wg=w9dhh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=P678BAZ3A4A4JDNAYKXQ&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1cf9d009-399c-49e1-901a-7b8786e59436&pf_rd_i=desktop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07654PNFQ?psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/quiet-BL066-SILENTWINGS-1450RPM-50-5CFM/dp/B01JMEDDYY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1508215847&sr=8-4&keywords=be+quiet I'm not concerned with how the fans look to be honest, so the color options on the Noctua NF-F12 don't really appeal but i have heard really good things about the brand and considering all of these fans are about the same price i cant find a good way to make my final selection. /roll D20 ? Any help is appreciated thank you very much.
  5. I just purchased the AOC AG271QG yesterday and it is fantastic. I highly recommend it for both panel and stand quality.
  6. Thank you guys for the info. I'll likely make the switch later today.
  7. I recently purchased a new monitor and a new PC to go with it (backwards i know but thats how it happened). Unfortunately the new monitor has an uncooperative pixel so ill be taking it back to Micro center, as the purchase was within the last 30 days. As luck would have it the store is out of stock on the monitor i previously purchased, but i can simply return it and get a different monitor altogether. This seems like a good idea only if changing from a TN panel to a IPS along with go from Free-Sync to G-Sync are worth it. PC specs and links to monitor are below. OS: Windows 10 Motherboard: Maximus IX Hero Ram: Ballistix 16g DDR4 2400 CPU: intel i5 -7600k CPU cooling: Corsair H100i v2 Graphics Card: Asus Strix 1080Ti PSU : Evga SuperNova 1000 P2 Current monitor: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1507923130&sr=8-3&keywords=acer+1440p Acer 27" TN panel 1440p 144hz Free-sync $387.60 Option two http://www.microcenter.com/product/478876/Agon_AG271QG_27_LED_Gaming_Monitor_w-_G-Sync Aoc agon 27" IPS 1440p 144hz G-sync $549.99 Whichever one i end up with will be accompanied by a Samsung SyncMaster 2333HD as a secondary monitor. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SyncMaster-2333HD-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B00213QXFA I play video games such as The Witcher III, Pubg, Rainbow6 sieg, and watch videos with this computer i don't do any video editing or anything of that nature. I'm most interested in the color quality difference between TN and IPS, and if ill get any functionality out of getting a G-sync monitor. Eventually i plan on overclocking cpu/gpu and getting a second Graphics card (If that yields better preference than getting a single new card when something beats the 1080TI). Would that complicate either G-sync or an IPS monitor? Im under the impression that getting a second graphics card (years from now hopefully) would resolve any problems that G-sync would fix, but im not sure i understand exactly what G-sync does. The way i have understood it thus far is it fixes the monitors refresh rate to the number of frames your graphics card is putting out in real time. Would my graphics card putting out sub 144 frames cause tearing? If so i haven't noticed it yet. TL DR: Is the second monitor worth the price difference.
