  7. I'm currently testing my loop with a high-pressure pump and a compound that boils at 34 C. So basically, as the compound (can't disclose for legal reasons) hits the copper base plate attached to the die, it will boil and transport a lot of heat with it. So even with a really low flow rate, the temperature stays the same as if it were at a much higher flow rate, as long as the fluid is not 100% vapor. It's got very impressive junction temps so far, and even at +50% power (340W), it cools very nicely.

  8. I just did the cleanest thermal paste job ever somehow. It's NT-H2 on a Navi 10 die.

  16. So here's a story that happened recently...

There's a Target a few miles from where I live. And if you've been on this forum long enough, you probably know I've always wanted a Nerdtender Snitch. So I biked to Target and got a gray Snitch Lite. Then my mom found out when I got home and made me return it. She was understandably pissed, but she was kinda impressed that I was able to save up that amount of money and bike several miles without getting run over. For the less than an hour I had it though, it was really nice. The design is really refined and it's just kinda cute compared to the full-size switch. Also, it's smaller size makes it easier to eat.. I still have the power brick though because I forgot to put it back in the package.

    1. OJTheAviator

      OJTheAviator

I mean, if you saved up the money, isn't it yours? Sure, she might have wished you used it for something else (very reasonable), but making you return something you got with your own money at no one else's expense seems a bit much.

  17. Another fun fact: Horses are resistant to nerve agent. This was proven during the Dugway Sheep Incident when a cloud of VX was released over a wide area. A ton of sheep died, but horses weren't really affected.

And now the explanation that @RorzNZ would give (tagging works now!): Nerve agent works by inhibiting an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. Horses have two variants of acetylcholinesterase, only one of which is affected by nerve agent.

Warm tea is nice. try some. like with little bit of milk & sugar. You'll definitely feel better as infused tea & sugar acts like a vasodialator so your head will get more bloodflow & help clear up that tightened up feel. plus if you slightly inhale the steam off of your tea as you drink it can open up your sinuses if it isnt blocked that much.

  20. When offline, I found a weird Pentium M dell laptop. The CPU heatsink doesn't have any heatpipes, it's just a rectangular prism-shaped copper baseplate and fins. There is a dedicated door to access this heatsink and CPU. Dell Inspiron B130 if you're curious.

  21. I'm working on a science project concerning a new type of cooling. I've been given $1000 funding, which is nice (not giving any more info away because that would disclose more info than I'm comfortable with). I got a really nice Nitro+ 5700 XT, three 40mm Noctua fans, and a 240mm radiator.

The fans come with soooo many extras. The packaging is really overdone. But the fans themselves are nice.

One reason I got this card is because it has pre-installed heatsinks for memory and some of the VRMs, so I can just stick on a 40mm fan.
Thie finstacks are super cool and the reason this GPU has super low memory temperatures.
