  1. Yup, JayzTwoCents brought my attention to the fluid. Loving it so far! It's not my favorite scheme either, but this build is really making me love it. Thanks for your praise I hope so! Hopefully it will give me better framerate
  2. Final Update: Baron Nashor I'm happy to announce the build is now officially Done. Here's what happened this week, and how the build came to an end: First of all, I got the backplates and covers from www.jmmods.com: These look nothing short of amazing. I highly suggest you check out the work he's done, it's top notch quality. I basically sent him the .ai file with the designs and I got exactly what I wanted in return. I also got new cooling liquid, primochill VUE: There's no real way to show how magical these are on a picture, seeing them in real life, or even a video, is much more mesmerizing. To put this, the backplates, and the covers on the PC, I had to flush the loop, drain it, fill with destilled water, clean it, let it run for a good 24 hours, flush it again, drain it again, dissasemble some of the tubing to have enough space for the backplates to go in, re-assemble the tubing, fill it with VUE, and finish the whole thing: While I was leak testing, I decided to set up my new mouse pad (mouse table cloth?) I got just the day before. Dog for scale: I decided to get this last week from x-ray pad. The material is not the best, but it makes for a good table cloth thing, and its not half bad for sliding the mouse in. And shortly after, My build was finally done: That's it from me folks. I had a lot of fun doing this build, not everything went smooth and not everything ended perfect, but I'm happy and proud of myself for taking this on :). I'll probably do another build next year, since my girlfriend has requested I do a Nami build, but until then I'll enjoy this beautiful beast. I do gotta say though, in all my years of league of legends, Baron Nashor never put this much of a fight! The next pictures are all unadulterated hardware porn. Enjoy
  3. Update 3: A light in the Dark I'm very excited to share this update with all of you. Bad things happened, but a lot of good things prevailed. First of all, I want to share my new set of keycaps I got from www.maxkeyboard.com : For those of you who might be interested in your own: maxkeyboard offers an option where you can submit your own vectors through their .ai template so you can have any keycap your heart desires. I made all of these finding some images and then transforming them into vectors. The font is the same font used in the League of Legends logo. The champion abilities and summoner spells I got from ebay. I also received the PSU shroud plate I ordered from permel engraving (local sign shop) : It looks a little messy since I cleaned it a bit with some Isopropyl alcohol. It got spray painted short after so nothing that matters: Then I started putting components on the Case. I started by riveting the PSU shroud back into the case, which I had disassembled before in order to take apart the plate, and mounted the fans and radiators in place. Everything was pretty straightforward so far. Time to mount the motherboard: The fit was a little tight due to the radiator on top, but nothing too complicated. (Also pictured: my dog Ghost giving me moral support, and pet hair to worry about). Finally, I put in the GPUs, SSDs, GPU stickers and PSU plate: I was starting to feel very proud at this point, but a very hard part was on its way. As I mentioned above in the OP, I've never done water cooling. This was my very first time bending tubes, measuring, and designing a loop. The original plan was to have a parallel loop, but during the processes, I realized I didn't have enough space to have a bend come out from the bottom of the second GPU, so I had to change my loop design slightly. I ordered five extra 500mm tubes because I knew I was going to screw up more than once, so I tried not to worry about running out of tubing. This ended up being my final loop design. The hardest part by far was the backside of the case. space is very limited there, so the bends had to be twisted a bit in order to accommodate for the drain valve. After this, I mixed up some Mayhem pastel with some blue and slight green dye, to try to color match to the best of my ability the blue shade I had, and filled my loop up. I was very anxious at this point, I did not want a leak. But the time came and it I had to do it. I let the pump run for about 1.5 hours, making sure there were no leaks. Needless to say, I was thrilled there weren't any. I then started cable managing and connecting everything together nice and smooth. I was fairly sure everything was working right, so I did my best to tidy up the cables. The cables I got from mod-one are absolutely gorgeous, I had a lot of fun wiring these up. Some cables had really tight fits, mainly the 4 pin and 8 pin CPU cables at the very top, and some cables at the bottom of the motherboard. I had to use tweezers for some of them, but everything went in nice and smooth. So I grabbed the build, and put it on top of my new desk: I couldn't wait to turn it on, I was so happy! So I press the power button... and nothing happens. Not even an attempt to start up, not even a click. Silly me, I forgot to switch on the PSU! I press the button again... nothing. I make sure everything is connected properly, and try again. Still nothing. This was the start of one of the most frustrating 2 hours of my life. I disconnected everything and started checking every component individually. Connect the motherboard, turn it on, and it works. Same for CPU, and the GPU. This time it turns on, but I quickly turn it off since the pump isn't running. At this point, I should probably mention that I did not measure my GPU cables well enough. When the PSU is in the case, they fit fine, but I can't slide the PSU out without disconnecting the GPU cables from the GPUs. Every time I wanted to connected something again, I had to disconnect the GPU cables, slide out the PSU, connect the new cables, slide the PSU back in and finally connect the cables to GPUs again. On one of these attempts, it happened. One of the cables pulled on the tubing a little too much, and I had a leak: When I saw this happening I went through the human equivalent of a BSOD. I crashed, didn't move for a bit, then realized things were bad and I had to act quickly. This was actually one of the best places the leak could have happened since there is absolutely nothing that could get fried in that general area. I cleaned up the mess with paper towels and Q-tips, made another tube and fit it back in. Luckily I also bought enough Pastel in case something like this happened, so I filled the loop again and leak tested for another 2 hours. Everything seemed to be doing fine, so I kept troubleshooting to find the culprit. A single Molex connector from the case was preventing everything from turning on. The cable came from an LED controller that controlled some LEDs in the case and the back of the PSU shroud plate. I still don't understand how or why this happened, but at this point, I don't care. I don't really care much for those LEDs, so I left it unplugged. And finally, there was light! Earlier in the month I had bought this little guy on ebay: Sadly it was a knockoff, but I couldn't find the original anywhere. I painted it so that his eyes were blue, and then added a layer of UV reactive transparent paint on top: All that was left was put him in his new little home! I was, and still am, very proud of the work I did. I don't consider myself a professional by any means, but this is something I'll be happy with for a very long time. Even with all the planning, waiting, and hardships involved, looking to my right and laying eyes upon this gorgeous beast makes me think it was all worth it. So that's it for now. The rest was pretty standard: install Windows, Drivers, Chrome (and of course, League of Legends). No overclocking yet, I will put that up in the next update. As of right now, the build is missing 3 components: GPU backplates, SSD covers, Primochill VUE liquid. The backplates and covers are on their way, but no news yet from primochill on VUE's release. Maybe I'll try doing something cool with the SLI bridge, but I don't know yet. Maybe I'll add a Nashor icon with UV paint, or something similar. Let me know if you have suggestions! Hopefully, by the next update, the build will be all finished. I'll try to get a good photo shoot for the finished build. I realize my photography isn't very good, I'll definitely improve on it by the next time.
  4. Update 2: Small Achievements There wasn't a lot of progress in the last 12 days, but a lot of cool little things got done. First, All the hardware parts are here! Excited to put all of this together! I have midterms this coming week, but hopefully, I'll be able to put it all together. Next up I have the results for the radiators. I was pretty happy with the result of the first one: Not bad for a first attempt. There's some minor spread on the right of the radiator, but In the end, I'm happy with the result. The second one though got a bit of a defect: Aside from the obviously disturbing defect, it looks good. I'm hoping I can hide it by using this particular rad as my front radiator so that the defect hides at the opposite end of the window. Overall though, I'm very happy with the results, here are all of the finished parts: Not the greatest job ever, But overall I'm pretty happy with the result (and honestly it came out better than I was hoping). Permel managed to finish my acrylic piece for the motherboard: I'm very happy with the way it looks! It looks exactly the same as the one it came with, but with the baron logo. Since I can put the motherboard together, I decided I would test POST the build... which means it's time for some nudes: I was so scared of messing up the tr somehow while installing it, but it ended up being much easier than some of the people are making out to be. As for the POST results, everything seems to be working perfectly! Here's a picture of the mobo turned on: The piece looks awesome! I really hope that it doesn't get hidden by the GPUs, but I'll always have the satisfaction of having this piece (even if I can't see it). That's all I have to share for today. Next update is probably gonna be huge and stepping into the final moments of the build!
  5. Loving what you're doing here. Would love to see some sort of Temp monitoring integrated into the RGB bars at the front of the desk, just throwing out an idea. Keep up the good work, I'll look forward to updates
  6. It was really hard to decide this! In the end, I chose the cover since a lot of the components had RGB on them, I thought it would look a bit empty right above the PSU shroud where the SSDs go, so I decided to make them RGB too!
  7. I forgot to mention, but the Baron Art I used on the case is from the Ignite Video. There wasn't any frame that had all of Nashy showing, so I just merged some images together in photoshop.
  8. Update 1: The build thus far I’m a huge league of legends fan, I wanted to pay homage to one of my favorite games. My main concern is that there isn’t anything that I thought was definitive enough that would scream “league of legends”. Other than the logo, I couldn’t find much to base the build on. I thought of a “hextech” theme, but in the end, I couldn’t sketch anything that I was satisfied with. There’s also the 134 champions to chose from, but who could I choose? This was a personal dilemma because there are so many heroes I like, some of them could get changed, some more could get added. Then I thought of something all games have in common. Something so powerful that it can go afk for 20 minutes and still 1v1 anyone in the game. An absolute badass of a monster: Baron Nashor. Some of you may have seen or heard of the H440 Hyper Beast case. I thought it looked really sweet, and have heard good things about the case itself, so I decided to pick a matt black h440 as my case for the build. I made some prototypes on photoshop to see if the idea would work, and I loved it! I started looking for ways in which I could translate what I did in photoshop into real life. I’m terrible with handcrafts and could probably fail miserably at coloring a circle, let alone a huge monster from the void. I decided on the vinyl wrap, I’ve seen it on cars before and it looked sweet, so why not? I contacted vehicle-graphics.ca and quickly they were able to get started. I dropped off my case in their shop, and a week later I picked it up. The results were amazing, and exactly what I was looking for: Here's a little gif of the case. Next, I started thinking of ways I could make my build scream “Nashor”. When my motherboard arrived, I couldn’t wait for the urge to open it and looked for things I can modify. As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what I had to do. There’s this acrylic piece on top of the motherboard heats-sink with the Aorus logo. As much as I love the Aorus logo I decided to replace it with a baron logo. There wasn’t one in the game that I could really use, so I found this one from op.gg, vectorized it and switched it up a little bit until I got something I liked: I then contacted Permel Engraving to see if they could replicate the acrylic piece in the motherboard, but replace the Aorus logo with my own. I’m currently waiting for the piece itself. I realize now that this might have been unnecessary, since the cards may block it from view anyway, but we’ll see. I also tried taking the PSU shroud off. After trying to unscrew a funny looking screw for about an hour, I found out what a rivet was, banged myself in the head a little and then took all the rivets off. I managed to take the part with the “NZXT” letters off: I wanted to switch them for the name of the build, “Nashor”. Because the build’s CPU is a threadripper, I wanted it to be part of the mod somehow. I decided on using the Threadripper/Ryzen font for “Nashor”, but because it’s custom-made I had to make some of the letters up and switch some up a little to be consistent. I was happy with the result: I do need a new cutout with though, I’m currently waiting for it from Permel. Last night I worked on spray painting the radiators and some parts that go in the back of the case. I was extremely scared of this part, and even though I don’t have the best setting for it, I just went for it. I got a cheap clothes rack from Amazon, put the plugs on the radiators and hanged them from a screw to the rack. I’m currently waiting for them to dry up. I don’t expect the results to be anywhere near perfect, but hopefully, they’ll be good enough. The last thing I did was mockup some designs for GPU backplates and SSD covers. The SSD covers were simple enough; I decided to use the LoL icon for one of them and the Baron Nashor Logo I made for the motherboard for the other one: Note that Black is meant to represent RGB. The GPU backplates were more complicated. A 1080Ti is raw power, Baron Nashor is raw power. I can’t have a cute baron logo for this one, it has to be more. I looked from the game icons for something I liked, and decided that I would vectorize this lovely thing: I’m by no means an illustrator expert. I’m not even good at illustrator (how does the pen tool work seriously why are you not doing what you want I want you to do), so this took several hours. I finally arrived at a design I was satisfied with: Note that Black is meant to represent RGB. I decided to commission the job to jmmods.com, since I have no access to a laser cutter or anything similar. I’m currently waiting on these as well, but based on his past work I expect these to be nothing short of badass. And that’s all I have so far! I’ve received all the hardware parts for the computer, currently working on the backplates, SSD covers, acrylic pieces, custom cables and water-cooling parts. I hope you all look forward to the second update as much as I do!
  9. I don't stream but I do record and use a lot of content creation tools. The main reason why I wanted to the processor is to test it out with unreal engine, I haven't seen any benchmarks so far but I saw some for the i9 and it looked promising. I'm not gonna lie, this build is a bit overkill. I'm ok with that, I've saved up a lot for it and I've always wanted something like this
  10. Intro Hi! I’m Snow, I’m working on a personal build, and I’ve never built a mod before. I’ve never used spray paint before, I have no idea what any materials are, I’ve never even done water-cooling! So hopefully this will be an awesome and great experience that I get to share with all of you. I’m very excited about this build, and hopefully, with some of your suggestions, this will become a sweet build. My mistake so far was not starting this log earlier! Sadly I’m already about midway through the build, but hopefully its still worth the read for you guys, and I by no means mind making changes or adding stuff in if it will improve the overall look of the build. Huge shout-out to Brodholm, who inspired and encouraged me to build this mod. His mods are sweet and his latest build is simply breathtaking. A link to his latest build log here. Here’s a link to the gallery in case you want to skip the reading! The build has now been finished! Click here for the build log gallery, or here for the finished build gallery!
