@mrchow19910319 I heard that next year Apple is going to release a new "Mac Pro" that allows you to replace the CPU and maybe GPU easily for upgrades in the future... You can upgrade the current mac pro but it is very restricted.
-
@Humbug That pretty cool. Linux is very similar to Unix (what macOS runs off of), so it might perform even better after Apple's optimization.
-
@DocSwag a little late but... I do think the iMac Pro might be a pretty good gaming machine, that was just a question. Although it is advertised as a Workstation machine, it looks like it could be one of the easiest high-end machines to buy (not talking about the price of it though ;_;). Because Apple might make their product compatible of gaming, Metal 2 could be optimized for more games along with next generation graphics to make macOS perform better and take advantage of all the power.

oh and I forgot to include a monitor in those specs

@RadiatingLight sorry, I ment iMac Pro oh, and Apple is most likely (or I heard) using an intel Xeon CPU for the iMac pro
-
This makes me wonder why Apple didn't use Vega FE for the iMac Pro because they are marketing it as a workstation machine, and Intel Xeon CPUs are not very good for gaming anyways.

http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/06/27/actual-testing-on-amd-vega-gpu-destined-for-imac-pro-shows-significant-speed-gains-over-nvidia-titan-xp So will the iMac Pro be the next gaming machine? ...for more than $5000?
