  1. Yeah I'm trying to figure out how to set the temperature that turns the fans off, but with wattman I don't think there's a way to do it, and I would use msi-afterburner but I read there were issues between it and wattman.
  2. So I have zero RPM mode turned on for my RX 580, that way until it gets to about 52 C, the fans won't turn on, usually in gaming this is fine as the fans will keep running until I've exited the game and the card has cooled itself down. However, I've noticed if I have two or more monitors plugged in, the temperature will rise a bit, almost getting to that point (so I'm watching a YouTube video on one screen and working on something on the other) and then the GPU will hit that temperature, cool itself down by turning the fans on and then shut the fans off when it hits the zero RPM temperature (about 44/45 C) and then repeats the cycle of heating up, turning fans on, cooling down and turning the fans off. My gut feeling tells me that this probably isn't good for the GPU fans to keep doing this kind of cycle, and at one point I turned zero RPM off, but then was told by several people I had talked to that keeping the fans running will shorten their life span so I turned zero RPM back on. My question is, which should I go for: the fans always running, the fans going in that cycle for certain periods of time, or should I just work off of one monitor to avoid all of this? I realize this is a bit of an odd question, but considering this is my first system, I wanna make sure that I take care of the parts as much as I can.
  3. I managed to find some change under the couch (metaphorically of course) and I think I can afford this https://www.amazon.ca/Arctic-ACFAN00138A-Value-Pack-Pressure-optimised/dp/B07HCKWF2X/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=140mm+fan&qid=1563637602&s=electronics&sr=1-3
  4. Alright thank you everyone, I called into a local store and they have some fans and a spliter at decent prices, and I also asked a friend if they had any spares and it seems that they might have a few spares, so I'll see what happens with that.
  5. I actually don't have the parts yet they're gonna arrive this week, but I just took a look at the reviews again and I got really worried.
  6. Yeah it looks like it can support up to 2 intake fans in the front and 1 top fan: Fan Options Front: 2 x 120mm / 2 x 140mm fan Rear: 1 x 120 mm fan (included) Top: 1 x 120mm / 1 x 140mm fan
  7. I don't plan to overclock this at all, I actually got a suggestion from someone I asked a few minutes ago, and they said I should underclock the ryzon 5 until I get the intake fans.
  8. So I bought the "Phanteks Eclipse Steel ATX Mid Tower Tempered Glass Black Cases - PH-EC300PTG_BK" case for a PC I was building after getting recommended to use it by about 4 people I talked to, not realizing that it only has one fan and that fan is used for exhaust, and after it shipped I started looking at the reviews again after I had just glanced over them (which I regret) and noticed that it stated the case's airflow is terrible and can easily overheat if you're not careful. I bought a budget motherboard that only has two fan ports (GIGABYTE B450M DS3H), one for the CPU and one for the case (I know I could probably just get a splitter for it), and at the moment I can't really order another fan (first time building a PC and I manage to screw this up, I'm an idiot), so I thought of something that may or may not be a stupid idea, I was thinking of running the system without the side panel off and aiming a desk fan or two at it, I know it's not a good solution but I'm wondering if for now if it'll work or maybe I should just wait until I can get an intake fan before running the system? If anyone is curious about what parts the system is using (first time building a PC like I said above, and I honestly feel like I could've done better with the case) PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor $186.14 @ Amazon Canada Motherboard Gigabyte - B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $94.99 @ Amazon Canada Memory G.Skill - Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $79.99 @ Newegg Canada Storage Crucial - BX500 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $37.99 @ Amazon Canada Video Card Sapphire - Radeon RX 580 8 GB PULSE Video Card $271.67 @ Amazon Canada Case Phanteks - P300 ATX Mid Tower Case $79.99 @ Amazon Canada Power Supply EVGA - 650 W ATX Power Supply $69.59 @ Amazon Canada Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $820.36 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-07-20 10:38 EDT-0400
  9. Alright so as long as I find a Charger that outputs 19 volts (and nothing higher) and 2.37 amps (or a bit lower) and the charger piece matches, I should be good?
  10. Today has not been a good day so far, among some other things going wrong my laptop charger (PA-1450-26) kicked the bucket today leaving me with a laptop with no charger at all. I've looked around trying to find some replacements online (I've been aiming for an OEM charger but no luck so far) and all I can seem to find are the so-called "universal" chargers, one of them being the "Staples 65W Universal Laptop Adapter (29676-CA)" (Staples is locally accessible in my area and the options on Amazon like the "Pwr 65W 45W Extra Long 14 Ft (4.2 meters) AC Adapter for Acer Aspire E1 E3 E5 E11 E14 E15 ES1 V5 V7 V15 R11 S3 Series; E1-510 E1-522 E1-531 E1-532 E1-570 E1-571 E1-572 E1-431 E1-510P E3-111 E5-511 E5-521 E5-532 E5-571 E5-573 E5-573G ES1-511 ES1-512 V3-551 V3-571 V3-571G V3-572PG V3-472P V3-111P V5-122P V5-431P V5-473P V5-571p V5-572 V5-471 V5-571 V7-481P V7-581P V7-582P V7-582PG R7-572 S3-391; VA70 Z5WAH PEW71 MS2346 ADP-65JH DB PA-1650-22 Laptop Charger Power Cord: (Check Connector Photo)" (yes that is literally the name of the product) don't seem any better.). I've had family members in the past use universal chargers for their laptops when their chargers died/broke but I don't really trust universal ones due to how shady/questionable their descriptions/specifications look. I realize I sound extremely picky/whiny right now and I sincerely apologize for that, but I just want to make sure I don't buy a charger that could end up ruining my laptop. Thanks!
  11. Welp Photoshop doesn't complain about the Intel HD desktop graphics, but it does with HD 520.
