  1. Hello There, I am interested in building a new home theater setup. Currently, I am using a soundbar. TV: 65" LG CX Devices: Gaming PC (directly to TV for G-SYNC), PS5, PS3, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii What I am looking at buying: Receiver: AVR-S760H | Denon Center Channel: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LV51F4P Subwoofer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00669L3HS/ Front LR and Surround LR: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NOA58RS/ (x2) Speaker Wire: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CSZUSLA/ Subwoofer cable: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003FVYXY0/ Is this a good setup? Any recommendations?
  2. I was running everything stock. I'm suspecting the sensors are faulty and I've always used HWMonitor with no issues, as that's what I was using. My 3800XT was fine when I had it. Since I am at a dead end, I submitted a RMA to AMD, so we will see when they respond. Most likely, the CPU is faulty. I've had the CPU for less than a month.
  3. Hey guys, Need some advice. Here is my build: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 UNIFY ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory Storage: Seagate FireCuda 520 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Blue 2 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact TG Light Tint ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit Running Cinebench, my CPU temps were going as high as 100 degrees C. After some research, I noticed this was abnormal (esp. since I have a NH-D15). So I tried removing the cooler, reapplying the thermal paste, making sure the fans were facing the right way (they were, but just triple checking), and when I tried rebooting, I get the error codes C5 and 0D. I removed the stick of RAM from DIMMB2 and voila, it booted! I reseated the RAM to DIMMB2 and got the same error codes. I checked the stick of RAM from DIMMB2 into DIMMA2, and it booted! So I verified that both sticks of RAM works. I tried booting from just DIMMB2, error codes C5 and 0D again. I tried booting from sticks in DIMMA1 and DIMMA2, and it booted! I also tried booting from DIMMB1, and got the same error codes. So! Looks like DIMMB1 and DIMMB2 are dead (or disabled). Unfortunately, I don't have another processor to test it, but DIMMA2 and DIMMB2 were working just fine before I tried reapplying thermalpaste. I also checked to make sure there was no physical damage to the CPU (there isn't any). I also tried, several times, reinstalling the BIOS and resetting CMOS. Any Ideas?
  4. Yeah...it happens to me when it first launches and then it just freezes. It's disappointing that I can't run this game at 4K with the hardware that I have...I can't even run it with ultra settings at 1080p.
  5. No, I just built this PC during Black Friday 2020
  6. Hey Guys, So, this is my build: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 UNIFY Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory Storage: Seagate FireCuda 520 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Storage: Western Digital Blue 2 TB M.2-2280 SSD Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING iCX3 Case: Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold My PC is hooked up to my 4K TV. At 1440p Medium settings, anytime gameplay loads, it stutters badly. I would like to play at 4K, but it's downright unplayable, even at the lowest settings. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm currently not overclocking anything, except XMP.
  7. Budget (including currency): $2000ish USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Metro Exodus, Doom Eternal, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty, Video Editing at some point in the future... Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/user/imperfectsoul47/saved/mw4jZL Hey Guys, I am waiting on the 3800XT from Best Buy, in which delivery was delayed from Friday 11/27 to Tuesday 12/1. I am considering of going to Microcenter tomorrow morning to try and score a RTX 3080. Should I get the 3900X for $399.99 from Microcenter (and return the 3800XT) or just keep the 3800XT? I do plan on getting the 5900X when it's available and it goes on sale, which I know will be a while.
  8. I'm new to file servers, so that's why I'm inquiring. I've had a few hard drives of different capacities sitting around, so I was looking for something to do with them. Right now, I'm just playing around with setting it up and looking for the best options.
  9. Hello There, I am currently attempting to build a file server with the following: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/imperfectsoul47/saved/Gbfwzy Right now, I have Debian 10 installed (mdadm for RAID, Samba for share, and Plex installed) and RAID 6 only gives me 1 TB total storage. Linear is too slow. I definitely want to add more storage. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am considering the following: 1. Buying 2 x 2TB HDD drives to add, which means I would need to by a PCI-e card to add more SATA ports. (Total cost: ~$140) OR 2. I currently have a 4TB WD Black drive in my gaming rig (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/imperfectsoul47/saved/zJPTJx). So I was considering buying a WD_BLACK external HDD for my games. I would then add the 4TB WD Black HDD to the file server. (total cost: ~$120). Would running games from an external HDD be adequate? OR 3. Buy 2 x 2TB M.2 SATA SSDs for my gaming rig and move the 4TB WD Black drive to the file server (total cost: $400+) Any other suggestions? Is Debian 10 good for a file server? I plan on using the file server for Music, Movies, and some backups
  10. Yes, I've played with it off as well...hence why I want new headphones. Complete description of the item: "Cable Boom Microphone - Volume Control for Playstation PS4 or Xbox One Controller, PC - Boompro Gaming Mic Compatible with Sennheiser HD598, HD598 SE, HD518, HD598 Cs, SR, HD599 Headphone(150CM)". There's also a review of the item that it works with Sennheiser headphones. Do you use a mic with your Sennheiser?
  11. Hey guys, I'm currently using HyperX Cloud II's for gaming, music, and movies but I want to upgrade to better headphones. Currently, it's hard to tell footstep location (particularly Apex Legends, when someone is running in front of me, it sounds like they're either right next to me or behind me; and yes, I'm using the simulated 7.1 surround sound). I've been doing a lot of research and decided on either: Audio Technica ATH-ADG1X [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AYZZP5U] - I've read they're practically the same as ATH-AG700X or ATH-900X but with a mic Sennheiser HD599 [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RFNZYJZ] with a Cable Boom Microphone [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W1G95PH] Please help me pick which one I should get (or list any recommendations). I use my headphones to play on PS4, Xbox, and PC; listen to music (at work); and watch movies/TV shows Thanks
  12. Hello There, I need help with my Netgear Orbi. I have the RBK53S-100NAS with 2 additional satellites. My router is in the basement, 1 satellite in my living room on the second floor, and the 2nd satellite on the 3rd floor (it's a 3-level above ground townhouse). I have Gigabit internet with Verizon Fios (no modem, connected through ethernet port in the wall). Wired, I get close to 900 mbps down and up (normal, what I expected). However, on my phone (Pixel 2 XL, connected to the 5GHz band), I'm only getting between 250 and 400 mbps. On my desktop (3rd floor, wired to the satellite), I'm only getting between 200 and 300 mbps. Is this normal speeds or is there something wrong? Thanks for your input!
  13. Hello There, I am in the market for a new router. I am currently in a 3 bedroom, 3 floor townhouse with Verizon Fios. My router (currently, a TP-Link Archer C9 V1) sits in the basement (above ground). My signal is pretty weak on the top floor (my smart TV can barely connect). What is the best router? I am also considering Mesh WiFi. Also, I like to have the ability to configure my router. Thanks for all your input!
  14. Hello There. I have this 65" Samsung TV: https://www.samsung.com/us/televisions-home-theater/tvs/uhd-tvs/65-nu7100-smart-4k-uhd-tv-un65nu7100fxza/ This sound bar: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-2-1-channel-300w-soundbar-system-with-6-1-2-wireless-subwoofer-black/6295020.p?skuId=6295020 Xbox One X PS4 Cable Box I currently have the Xbox One X, PS4, and Cable Box connected to the TV via HDMI (I'm not using the passthru on the Xbox One X) I have a Digital Optical cable from the TV to the Sound Bar Is this the best setup for the sound quality? Or should I use the HDMI(arc) port on my TV for the sound bar? I've heard that a HDMI cable is better for sound than an optical cable...
  15. Hello there. I'm currently using the HyperX Cloud II headset for gaming (Xbox and PC), music, and watching movies/youtube/etc. I've had them for about a year and they're great! However, I stumbled upon this article: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/74o6wc/in_search_of_my_first_gaming_headset/do15cij/ and I might be considering getting a different headset (and selling my Cloud II). I'm considering of getting: Headphones: https://www.amazon.com/Status-Audio-Closed-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B01BDX1IVW/ (Status Audio CB-1) Mic: https://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-BoomPro-Microphone-Gaming-Communication/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ (V-MODA BoomPro) Recently, I've been using my headset for music mostly and I love hearing the bass, but I'm still using them for gaming and videos. I also just recently got a PS4, so I can use the Cloud II dongle to get virtualized surround sound (I love this on PC, haven't tried it on PS4 yet). Also, my hearing is not that great and I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell a difference between headsets/headphones. Should I change headsets/headphones? Will I really hear a difference? Thank you for your help!
  16. Hello Community, Here is my current build: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/2zXPxr I plan on adding a M.2 NVMe SSD, a Blu-ray Writer, 6 3.5" hard drives, 2 2.5" drives (1 SSD and 1 HDD), and replacing the Define C with a Define R6 TG w/ USB-C. Question 1, should I replace the 650W power supply with a bigger one? Or should I just get the Molex-to-SATA adapters? The current power supply only has 8 SATA connectors and 3 molex connectors. I need 11 SATA connectors (1 for the USB 3.0 PCIe adapter and 1 for the fan hub in the Define R6) Question 2, the M.2 NVMe SSD will sit right under the GPU. Should I get a heatsink for it? I'm getting the WD Black 500 GB M.2 NVMe SSD. Thanks!
  17. I decided to go with the Cooler Master Mastercase 5. I believe a new computer calls for a new case, I'm just not sure what to do with the Thermaltake Chaser MK-I...I started out with a Cooler Master HAF 932, which I still have and plan to use for a server build. Anybody else out there have any suggestions?
  18. I'm sure I can figure something out. If not, then I'll have to buy Windows 10 or get a key from somewhere else.
  19. That's a pretty decent build. I prefer air over water, due to potential leaks. Why SLI? Isn't SLI pretty much dead?
  20. I already have some windows 7 keys... It's a placeholder for now. I was looking at the Cooler Master Mastercase 5 or re-using my Thermaltake Chaser MK-I, but I want a smaller case. I'm still looking, hence this post. I will also be connecting this computer to a 4K TV
  21. Around $2500...I've still got a ways to go on saving up.
  22. Sure! I'd be interested to see what you come up with
  23. Hello. Here is my current parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/m3talsnake13/saved/d8H2RB I'm either going to go with Ryzen 7 1700X or Intel i7-8700K, haven't decided yet. I was considering of re-using my Thermaltake Chaser MK-I case, but I want a smaller case. I was considering the Cooler Master Mastercase 5, but from comparing the dimensions and weight, it looks to be the same size as the Chaser MK-I, even though it's a mid-tower. Does anyone have any pics comparing a Mastercase 5 to a full tower case? For now, I've settled on the Fractal Design Focus G, but the size of the Noctua is cutting it close with the max CPU cooler size of the case. The Focus G also doesn't have a PSU shroud or easily-removable dust filters. I've also read reviews that cable management is not that great. What I'm looking for in a case: Mid-tower Removable Dust Filters PSU Shroud Cable Management Front mesh Windowed Side Panel At least 2 5.25" drive bays Can anybody help or suggest any case?
