  1. Also this is the QVL for the board... like I said it's a bunch of gibberish to me
  2. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/p6RFf7/corsair-memory-cmk16gx4m2b3200c16? I'm not sure if they're the exact model or whatever you have but these ones? lol I mean they're 3200 corsair lpx
  3. So I'm still in the planning stages of my build and I was wondering if the community could help me with finding compatible memory for the mobo I have picked out. Its an Asus ROG Strix b-350 f gaming motherboard. I've found the QVL but trying to decipher it, since in a noob to this whole building thing, has been a little daunting. Once again if I could get some assistance that'd be great. My my preference is 2x 8gb sticks around 3200. If I could go a little lower without sacrificing too much performance since it's a ryzen build then that'd be awesome! Thanks in advance
  4. Alright so as the topic suggests I'm trying to plan for my Ryzen build. I've been doing an awful lot of research and even made a post the other day that made me realize I wasn't anywhere near ready for building my new PC. My original planning was to build a PC bit by bit but I'm sort of come to the realization that I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I bought a case I really like... and I even bought a power supply that was way overkill for what I'm planning on doing. My case is an NZXT s340 elite and my power supply is an EVGA 850 BQ. My original plan was to build this PC. However it was pointed out to me that I have my pricing grossly out of proportion. For instance my RAM, cooler, and even my SSD are more expensive than even my CPU. My initial thought was to use the stock cooler and upgrade the cooler, my RAM is expensive because I want 16gb with two instead of four slots. Also I know the video card is kinda "cheap" but I wanted a decent middle-of-the-road card that I didn't have to spend $400 on right away as I kind of wanted the whole instant satisfaction thing and Ryzen doesn't have any sort of integrated graphics. The m.2 ssd was going to be for my operating system and Visual Studio, CodeBlocks, and potentially some games I play rather frequently, and the hdd was for... mass storage obviously. So I guess a couple of my questions could be should I buy a cheaper PSU? Skip the m.2 ssd and go for a SATA ssd? Are there any suggestions on potentially buying cheaper RAM even though Ryzen is so weird with memory? Does anyone have any HELPFUL advice? TL;DR I don't want an Intel PC, I'm still in the planning stages of my PC and have noob questions, I don't have a set budget but rather piecing my PC together. Thanks in advance Once again I don't want Intel, I'm shooting for Ryzen... including coffee lake...
  5. Thanks for the feedback. Some of the stuff was for later on down the road. Take for instance the AIO and that beefy graphics card you suggested lol. But I did notice on my build however that the memory I had on partpicker was not priced the same as I had found on Amazon, however the memory you linked is cheaper and looks better. I have a question about the SSD though. So my motherboard has an M.2 slot and I was intending on basically loading up my OS and just a few things on it like Visual Studio and MAYBE some games on it. What's wrong with m.2 ssd vs a 2.5" ssd? other than extra cables or the showing it off on the front of my case? Also super sorry if I seem like an ass but I'm new to this whole thing and this is going to be my first build. Also can you or someone else explain the me the differences in the different ryzen CPU's? I see the clock scores and core/thread counts and stuff but a lot of that is gibberish to me.
  6. At the moment I'm piecing it together so... I want to stay in the cheaper range but this is my theoretical build on PCPartPicker Ryzen Build Note I already have the power supply and the case so ignore the case in my build. I keep it there for reference
  7. In my original thread I made a general posting. Now I'm here to ask for advice on building a Ryzen PC. Since I'm piecing the whole thing together I would prefer to stay in the 3 or 5 category. If I could get some help understanding the difference between the X models vs the others would be a bonus. Like originally I was planning on going with a 1500x just cause I figured the X meant it was better but then I started second guessing myself and am wondering if I should go with the 1600 or the 1600x? HELP PLEASE
  8. In my link to the thread I explained that I'm wanting to go for a Kraken x62 and using it as the intake in a s340 elite. Now while I understand both the case and radiator have stock fans included... I've heard that the stock fans in both kinda suck? I might be wrong but as I said in the other thread I'm still in the process of planning and piecing my build together. So I guess another question could be what brands do people recommend? since there are 800 different companies that make all different types of components.
  9. So I'm trying to build my PC and I've made a thread (That's kind of broad but intentionally so...) but I'm finding myself more and more confused about case fans. So I know there are generally two types of fans, static and air flow, but how do I know what to put in my PC? I'm still in the planning stages for the most part but obviously want positive pressure. Can anyone help me out?
  10. Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum... Just dropping by to say hey and that I've posted something in the New Builds and Planning thread. If I could get some constructive advice that'd be spectacular. Thanks in advance
  11. Because from what I've done research on... it's kind of a jack of all trades whilst simultaneously keeping prices cheaper than Intel. Also I'm starting a brand new build with literally no compatible parts from my previous computer. I want to do a bit of gaming, while trying to pursue my hobby of dabbling in different things like programming, video editing, blah blah blah... so this just seems like the winner in my book.
  12. Hello everyone, So I don't really know where to start but I suppose I'll start with "Hi I'm new to this forum and don't yell at me too hard if I've posted in the wrong area please." Anyhow I'm in the process of building a computer piece by piece and would like a bit of assistance. My thought process was since I'm needing to build this rig piece by piece... I'm trying to get cheaper components to get it up and going and then once I have the computer "complete" I intend on upgrading this rig and potentially throwing my old hardware into another PC. The parts that I currently have are a EVGA 850 BQ power supply(overkill I know but like I said... expanding and I got it cheap), and an NZXT s340 Elite case... Now as far as what I'm wanting to do is basically build a Ryzen computer capable of like... 1080p gaming?... First question would be... fans... there are the two stock fans for the s340 elite for exhaust but I'm wanting to throw either an NZXT Kraken x62(rev 2) or 2 140mm fans in it... what are some recommendations? Also feel free to ask other questions so I can try to get as educated as possible while I'm piecing this together. Thanks in advace!!
