  1. What is the storage settings for the onboard controller? AHCI? The problem you describe doesn't match exactly what I have seen most cases but it was my initial thought after reading about a failed boot after a BIOS update, as it usually resets defaults.
  2. First off I am sorry people are replying to you without actually reading your posts and therefore making useless suggestions. It seems you are having some wierd issues, so I would suggest you disconnect anything you dont strictly need. Plug in only screen, mouse, keyboard and power and have only your main SSD attached to your motherboard. Now try to boot from the installation USB and see if you are still getting stuck. If that happens clear your CMOS and go to your bios and make sure you are running in AHCI mode, with WHQL win8/10 support. Then try again. I will try to check in later to read your results. Good luck
  3. I suggest you start by describing your setup more consicely. "the new Asrock motherboard" is which model? What model is your m. 2 SSD? What do you mean by "putting it as drive"? Where is it not showing up? In windows? During installation? I understand you are lacking experience but you need to describe the situation.
  4. This should likely power something like a fan or rgb hub. Something that requires static power whenever the PC is turned on. Simply plug it into a molex connector from your PSU.
  5. Disk management is not optimal for this task since it views certain partitiins as critical. Short answer is to download third party software. Google "low level format" iirc its guru3d or something and just be careful to select the correct drive (tip: tick the fast option)
  6. Ok so my answer to that is: Grats! They fixed it so that it is now working as intended. (otherwise whats the point of that software )
  7. A set OC isnt something that anyone would expect you to want to lose everytime you power off your pc. So your post is confusing since it sounds like you are saying that it works like it should. Its like saying "dudes this is wierd my pc can boot into Windows everytime I turn it on, how is that possible??" Is there something I am missunderstanding?
  8. Can we hear what drives you have? My recommendation is to do backups now of all you files if you have a secondary drive and clean install win10 on your (assumed) SSD when you are done upgrading then copy files from or restore the backup when win10 is fully updated to 1709. This will ensure a stable system with all your files. Win 8.1 and 10 CAN be migrated by simply booting the old installation from the "new pc" and waiting for devices to register and that DOES save you having to reinstall all your apps and games again, but a clean install is personally preffered. I would also at least try to activate Win 10 with your existing key on the new mobo before buying a new key. Good luck
  9. None of the pictures I can find suggest this a slim cabinet so why low profile? If the PC is still stock only length should be your concern. A 1060 is also quite a bit better even in the 3GB variant from what I have seen and not much more expensive at least here.
  10. Does your keyboard have any way to change brightness and can you try to LOWER the brightness till the screen shows back up? I know it sounds crazy but if that works I have seen it before.
  11. That is what we want you to test by plugging in a different fan, for example one of your case fans, into the CPU_FAN header and trying to boot. If it boots with the case fan you got lucky and it is the cooler fan causing it.
  12. Fair point. My thought was that if the guy didnt have stuff around to do that he might as well aftermarket. And by now he will need thernal goop anyways I bet
  13. Lol obviously But the point was that he might not be able to attach any random fan to the stock ryzen cooler. You missunderstood my point and question. I could have been clearer, it is of course correct that the fan is the suspected issue, the cooler is just a piece of metal. Having more experience with intel i simply dont know if the ryzen stock coolers fan is of a normal formfactor or if any same size fan can replace it. Sorry for the confusion.
  14. True but are Ryzen stock coolers standard formfactor?
