  1. LMG are registered to collect VAT as per the 20% on the LMG receipt of $34. As some suggested it looks like someone crossed USD and CAD over somewhere, probably MIBC who completed the customs label
  2. No threadripper video released today? I can't quite believe it tbh, it's Linus doesn't care about HEDT anymore
  3. Ended up RMAing the CPU which was a new purchase, baffling how it decided to die but working currently with a 5500, and recon board Thanks all
  4. Do you have old ddr3 or ddr4 ram available? 3rd gen intel uses ddr3. If ddr4 then I'd consider an 5th or 6th gen i5 and board as likely a 3770 will still throttle an 570, my son runs a 3570 with a gtx950
  5. And it's dead Jim... No idea how that happened, got a refund and bought a 5500 instead. The way I am racking up spares I'll be on my way to 3 PC's at this rate
  6. Taking a road trip back to the warehouse today to get the CPU tested, quicker than posting and I get certainty with the outcome, with the option of an exchange or refund
  7. I'm out of spares now, can open an rma and will speak to them tomorrow as might buy a 5500 to try on proviso that if the CPU is dead then can drop it off once I've tested the replacement. Just amazed if it is the CPU that was working one evening and dead in the evening, no bent pins and no visible damage. Ta
  8. The higher the resolution the more demand on the GPU, guess a 6700xt isn't in your budget if you flip the 6650? I'd be looking at reinstalling drivers, undervolting the GPU, using pbo on the bios and check xmp is enabled for the ram (16gb?) As others have said, the 5600 is the same as the 5700 but with 2 less cores so your call but not really worth that swap.
  9. Bought a Ryzen 3600, refurb a520 S2h and ram and nvme to make a cheap build for my son. Initially after some issues with getting the bios updated, the build went ok. Was using a wraith cooler and temps were higher than ideal on the initial stress tests, up to 95degrees. (Prime 95 and cinebench) Fast forward to Monday morning and the system doesn't boot (no display on screen at all, but no rebooting etc. So far tried both sticks of ram, 2 motherboards and 3 graphics cards. No change. Haven't changed the power supply (Corsair 650w) and the CPU, I don't have another AM4 chip available so do I bite the bullet and look at trying an RMA or pony up and buy a replacement? Or anything else to try first
  10. Thanks, I am going to take it to work I think and try a new monitor option and cables as a start, might take a while to isolate the issue I feel swapping each bit in and out.
  11. Fresh install when the build was set up a few days ago and all updates completed, will reset the bios again just to check but updated to an F12 when I got the board as the CPU wasn't initially recognised. Thanks
  12. To summarise... Tested HD7750 works fine in new build, RX580 does not (no display out, monitor on standby mode, DP or HDMI) RX580 seemingly works fine in another motherboard
  13. I am building a cheap desktop for my son. Currently gigabyte A520m S2h with 3600 and 16gb ram Initially test with a old hd7750 I had knocking about. Bought a rx580 8gb and I get no display from any of the outputs... The board only has one pcie 3.0 x16 slot so can't change slot to test. Tried the card in my desktop and it works fine but although I did unplug my rx6700 it was still in the other slot, nothing was spinning and the card output furmark fine to test stability. I had a Corsair tx650m PSU as a test supply for the new rig and it has a 6pin PSU, the light turns blue suggesting power is ok. Any suggestions... Faulty board, PSU or graphics card or just a weird combo that's not working together
