  1. I turn it off with Alexa usually or the remote to put it on standby, so it’s not fully off. Could that be the issue ?, and if so any idea how I could fix this, or would I have to have the TV turn completely off all the time
  2. Hey guys, so I’m having a few different issues with my PC right now, could really use a hand. The first issue is when I have 2 monitors setup. I have a main monitor that is an ultra wide, however my TV is above and I use this as a 2nd monitor occasionally. The issue is, when windows has the display set to extended, and the TV is turned off, my main display keeps randomly going black and cutting out, audio still works, I can click things, but it keeps blacking our for half a second a few times a minute. It’s really hard to explain but when I go into settings and set it to only display on monitor one everything is fine. I just want to be able to use the main monitor, and when I switch my TV to the HDMI the PC is plugged into it works. Without having to keep changing the display settings. My second issue is playing 4K. My setup had a 6700k and a GTX 1080, all I am trying to do is play 4K videos on the TV. However when they play they keep stuttering and are laggy. I have plex setup but the network isn’t fast enough to steam the 4K so I have to downscale to HD. I just can’t work out why it is lagging, I am playing on VLC, have tried re installing, changing settings to all the suggested options, nothing has worked. I love my PC it’s just really starting to frustrate me now so could really use a hand Hope someone can help ?
  3. Hey guys, I'm in the process of trying to expand my current plex server that's to something a bit more scalable. I currently just have it running off my PC with a 3tb and 5tb hard drive installed. I ideally want to take these out so I can have my whole PC running from SSD's and then have an external drive enclosure to house all my drives for plex. The issue I'm having, however, is deciding between a NAS or a DAS. Either way, I would still run the actual server off my PC, If I were to get a NAS, within my budget the best I could get would be a 4 bay like the WD EX4100, my issue here is I'm limited to 4 drive bays and once they're filled would probably have to buy another NAS I assume? My other option is something like "Icybox IB-3810u3 10-Bay External SINGLE System for 10 x SATA 3.5-Inch", this would be great however I've only just started looking into these and aren't quite sure how it would work. I plan to slowly add more storage over time, with windows could I keep expanding the partition over time? And if so, with Windows 10 can I have a partition in theory that was 100+TB? As id ideally just want one partition with everything PLEX on. My other question is how does this DAS connect to my PC? Will it be fine over a simple USB 3? Or will I need an eSata or something? As I only have USB 3's to spare. Sorry if this is really complicated, I just hope someone is able to help Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the advice! You recon something like this will do the job? Syba SI-PEX40064 SATA III 4 Port PCI-e x1 Controller Card with Low Profile Brackets Green https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AZ9T3OU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_85xEBbRDYEWDM
  5. Right, so I built my PC about 2 years ago and have slowly been adding to the storage since. I was recently gifted 4 250gb SSD's and am planning to get a new 8TB hard drive however I'm struggling to find a way to get everything to fit, My current setup is: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered Glass Case Intel i7-6700k Processor Asus ROG Strix A8G GTX 1080 Graphics Card Corsair RM650i Power Supply 2x 8GB G-Skill TridentZ RAM DDR4 ASUS Maximus Hero VIII Alpha Motherboard I currently have a 5TB HDD and a 3TB HDD for storage and a 250GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD for my OS I now have been given 4 Samsung 840 Evo SSD's and am about to buy an 8TB Seagate Barracuda HDD From what I could figure online, setting up a 500GB Raid 10 out of the 4 SSD's wouldn't benefit me much in terms of boot time and windows speeds so I plan to keep my 250GB 850 EVO for my OS, have the 4 840 EVO's store my games that are currently stored on one of my HDD's so they have faster loading times then use the other 16GB of hard disk storage for media etc. I'm fine in terms of mounting the hard drives, just need to order a couple more mounts. My issue is I only have 6 SATA ports on my motherboard, and I'll have 8 drives to plug in, here's everything my Mobo has: https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-VIII-HERO-ALPHA/ I've seen a few cards that I think I plug into a PCI port that give me extra Sata connections however I've read these can cause the drives to be slower and/or affect my graphics card? I just wanted to see if anyone is able to help me out and possibly suggest a card that will give me at least 2 more Sata ports whilst not slowing my GPU or the drives (I was planning to plug my 3 and 5 TB HDD's into the card so it won't need to deal with SSD speeds). I've seen a few cards that also add a couple of USB ports to the back of my case which could be handy but not necessary. Would REALLY appreciate any help and thanks a million in advance!!!
  6. This will sound stupid af but could you elaborate on what you mean by receiver? Im stupid ik

    Audio Interface

Hey guys, just a quickie Im planning to buy 2 JBL LSR 305 speakers and want to hook them up primarily to my desktop but also want to be able to set them up with my macbook pro when I dock it and plug it into my monitor. I am looking at one of them Focusrite Scarlett interfaces: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Focusrite-Scarlett-Audio-Interface-Tools/dp/B01E6T56CM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511813972&sr=8-1&keywords=focusrite+audio+interface but they only have one usb cable to plug slot to connect to my desktop PC If I were to buy these, any ideas of a way to hook up my macbook as and when I want? Thanks!
  8. Guess you gotta be in it to win it so in it I am
  9. Hey, sorry didn't see your reply, they're active monitors, A mixer looks like the sorta think I need rather than the audio interfaces I was looking at before, would you have any suggestions for a decent under £100 mixer?
  10. Hey all! Ive been working on my setup for a while now and I feel its mostly done, my one issue, however, is that I've neglected audio, I have a TON of headphones but want to get some decent studio monitors for audio editing and general listening. In a perfect world, I want a setup that just works... this probably sounds stupid but I always find myself going into windows audio settings to switch the output so I can get the audio to come through, im here to ask if anyone has suggestions how to make my below plan work, if I need to change anything etc My plan: I plan to have 2 JBL LSR305 Studio Monitor's as my speakers for my setup, I want them to output my audio from my PC, then also my audio from my Macbook Pro 15" (USB C) but only when I chose to plug it in, I would be cool to have it output the audio of my PS4 also and ideally id love to hook up an amazon echo dot to them so I can use the voice commands but have better speakers. My issue is, if I were to buy the speakers, how the heck can I get all that setup? The speaker inputs are 1/4" TRS (Balanced), XLR (Balanced), If I want to connect my ps4 id probably need to use an optical cable, then I can use either an optical cable, USB or 3mm jack from my PC, usb c from my macbook (or through some dongle adaptor another input) and then a 3mm output from my echo dot... I have a blue yeti but I can just have that USB straight to my PC, no issues there, Ive look at audio interfaces but havent got a clue how to find one that can do all of the above at preferably a price below £100 and not take up my entire desk, it would be cool to have one that I can DI a guitar into but I could probably live without that. Hopefully, someone here has a similar setup going and can lead me in the right direction, I have a feeling its going to endup being a bit of a mess of dongles and adaptors but I can live with that as long as I can tuck them out of the way. If anyone can make sense of all that it would be appreciated Thanks Mac
  11. I dont think they will remove the notch on the iPhone X's or whatever next years one is called, it will be an iconic part of apple's design and all the app developers will have refined their apps for the X's display in a years time so they wouldnt make them do a whole new design all over again. Ive been using the X since I got it on launch day and I have to say I kinda like the camera notch thingy in the display. It makes the phone quirky and stand out from other iphones, when im using app's fullscreen I dont feel it gets in the way and likewise with videos nothing's really happening over on the far left side that I feel im missing out on, the display looks beautiful enough for me to ignore the notch. Its completely personal preference but speaking as someone whos been using the X, I definitely love the experience, of course, others will have different opinions on the notch, youll just have to remember some of them people wont have had the experience of using the phone in everyday use and without using it the notch dosent look like a great thing to have, The 6s is good, I came from the 7+ to the X and love it but its down to you
  12. I picked up an iPhone X Friday (Coming from an iPhone 7+, and an LG G Flex prior to that), I love it so far. There are still many apps to be updated for the phone and those that aren't don't look amazing, especially landscape ones such as Clash of Clans, the ones that are updated however look stunning, Alto's Adventure takes full advantage of the screen and haptics and despite being a pretty dull game, is soooooo nice to play because of its looks and feel. I moved to iOS after having a LG G Flex for 2 years, perhaps not the best choice of phone for a first android at the time but I wanted something different, and it was, it was a fun phone and I enjoyed the customisation, issues started to happen after the first year though, There were no updates for new android OS's whereas on iOS I get every update the day it comes out and they're regular updates. This meant I was stuck with bugs that were on my android version that I couldn't get fixed like a Bluetooth bug that caused it to keep dropping out every 10 seconds. I had an issue with my charging port and when I contacted LG they wanted me to send the phone away for 2 weeks to get looked at and they would charge based on what the issue was. If I have an issue with my iPhone I take it to the apple store and they fix it then and there or give me a new phone... so much easier, I do miss allot from android but I like my phone to just work. It just does what is should, and it does it well, really well. Id say go for the iPhone X for sure but its not my decision its yours
  13. If the phone is unlocked then it should work with any carrier so im not quite sure why its not working for you, if your getting the busy signal then it may be an issue with the carrier so you may need to try contact them again or go in store
  14. If your on such a tight budget then you'll struggle with the switch as games are pretty pricey, if you go with PC you can wait a few months after new games come out and usually get them much cheaper, (As long as the PC is capable of running the games) giving you way more games to play for your YouTube, its up to you though,
