What’s the percentage of people writing essays here that are currently procrastinating on an actual essay for school?

My short opinion: Yeah, it seems like they need more layers to catch things or slow down. I have faith that they will. Given that they probably can’t economically slow down and stay afloat, LABS generating revenue could be the thing that gets them to slow down. A win win win.

Good point. I'll test each kit next in memtest86. I think I had either Pattern 1 or 2 from your diagram because I installed the first kit in alternating slots and then just added the new kit when I got it a few months later.

For the sake of internet history, I'm currently running these on:
    Intel 8700K
    Asus Prime Z370-A
    BIOS Version 2401
Asus 3070 Dual Driver 460.73.1 (Thanks LTT for this in the first drop).

It is possible that they will not work together, especially since you bought them at different times and they are different versions. Brands can change the PCB and ICs, so that subtiming requirements may be different even though the primary timings are the same. It's also possible that the XMP profile works with 2 sticks, but not 4, even if they were identical sticks.

There are a few things you can try to get them working, but first you should verify that each kit works individually (you have tested individual sticks, but not individual kits).

Once you verify that that is all working, try them together again, but try these orientations:
    ll ll
    ll ll
    ll ll
where green is one kit and blue is the other. The most likely to work is the last since matching sticks will be in their own channels.

I guess I'll pop in here since it seems no one else has cared to confirm things, I managed to get a 3070 from this. I am not doing so with any ill-intention, but just to confirm that from my perspective VAG did work, which was basically just that bots didn't get them.

I've been watching LTT daily for about 6+ years (first video was his review of the Schiit Magni+Modi). I've been wanting to upgrade my GPU and CPU for a while now because I'm a DevOps engineer and have been wanting a better space to run Machine Learning workloads in my Kubernetes Cluster (and of course game on it).

I happen to work from home, but was actually working just like all of you. I had my subscription tab open on YouTube (and have had for the last 3 weeks), saw the video, and because I watch YT at 2x speed, likely got to the section faster than most. Video was up at 10:40 PST, I finished quiz at 10:49, at 10:51 it finally passed the check and I was able to purchase. I didn't use google, and nearly failed myself on the easiest question of the batch. I'm grateful and won't be participating in future rounds to be fair. That is all.

Disclaimer: I don't mean to be mean or inconsiderate to anyone, but was very lucky to get a 3070 from this. I've been trying to upgrade for a long time. My strategy, I've been sitting with the subscription tab open for the last 3 weeks. I've consistently been in the first 10-15 people on the video. I always watch YT/FP a 2x speed, so got to the info quick. Took the quiz honestly (almost failed on the easiest question).

I really wanted to the ASUS TUF version of the 3070, but I'll be grateful and maybe trade when things calm down in a year+

I WFH, had the video sub tab on my third monitor while doing work. Looks like video went up at 10:40 PST, I finished quiz at 10:49, got to purchase page at 10:51. Again, don't want to mean to anyone but only posted bc I saw people questioning whether VAG program actually worked. Been watching LTT daily for 6+ years, sub to floatplane, all the gamer things. It was bound to be very difficult. I'll make sure to not participate in future rounds.

Yeah the only info we have is from WAN. He said the program would be introduced during a video, but I don't think it'll be fastest to click. Maybe we'll have to link our Steam account and have a recently played game, who knows. As for time it'll go live, since it's attached to a video, just look when the videos have gone up. Let's just say I've been consistently in the first 10 people to a video every day this week.... and I'm just 1% annoyed because I've already seen all these videos anyways over on Floatplane. But I'll give them the extra view I guess. But I need a new CPU for studying.... if there's a 5900X, I'll be happy. Hopefully something other than 3080's as well. I want a 3070.

Did you DDU before installing the 2070? IF not Download Display Driver Uninstaller WITH your 1060 in. Boot into safemode and Run DDU removing drivers, then once thats complete Shut down the system. Then plug the 2070 in and download driverrs and that should work.

MCDELTAT reacted to Bishop Crane in Does SATA last longer than PCI-E NVME?
The main factor in the lifespan comes down to the technology used in the actual storage itself, it will be referred to as SLC, MLC or TLC normally
Them being Single, Multi, and Tripple level cell, Multi means anything more than 1, but can also be triple, good old standardisation!

SLC is expected to last about 100k write operations per cell
MLC depending on bits per cell, but is around 10k writes per cell
TLC is about 5k writes per cell

These are estimates, as it really does depend on usage patterns and temperatures as well as a few other concerns.
Additionally there are enterprise level version of SLC and MLC (not sure of TLC) which can have endurances between 3x and 10x that of a standard drive.

It then comes down to the drive size, as to how long it will last.  a 1Tb drive will last for twice as many writes as a 512Gb drive, purely because it has twice as many cells.

The drive endurance is often expressed as DWPD (drive writes per day) this can give you an estimation of how long your drive will last if you compare it to the DWPD
Intel actually has a fairly useful tool for estimating the lifespan of their drives based on usage
    https://estimator.intel.com/ssdendurance/

Hope that is of some help to you!

Lots of practice is pry the only way. Really the only trick I know of is to strip the jacket, straighten the wires and sort them in order, then I pinch with my nail right next to the jacket to hold them in order while bending a flexing the ends a little bit so they are all nice and straight. Trim to length and insert into the connector, should take right around a minute per start to finish.

Pass-thru EZ-RJ45's are awesome, but do get expensive... I've never tried the knockoffs from Amazon but it looks like only $35 for the crimpers so I may have to grab some.

Well, follow up, I spent maybe 6 hours total tearing apart my rig, drying it, with anti-static rag, q-tips in tight crevices etc. I even took off my GPU backplate just to make sure. Surprisingly, almost nothing got into the back of the PCB, so maybe this is an unsung feature.

I used the highest zoom lens I have for my camera to check out solder joints and everything seemed fine, so I just went for it, I knew there was nothing in the power supply because the Meshify’s shroud had me covered there. To my luck, the CPU booted up just fine, so after checking CPU voltages in CPU-Z, and seeing that they looked fairly regular, I decided to pop in my GPU as well. That spun up and has normal voltage/current levels as well.

For now I feel pretty confident that I lucked out and saved it, but since I planning on buying a lab microscope for my EE lab soon anyways, I’ll probably check out the board in a few months and see if there’s anything I can touch up later.
