  1. Well that probably counts me out since I'm not really active here. I operate under the same username on OCN which most of my "activities" take place. I think I subscribed to Linus back in 2009 with his super quality 360p videos. Good times.
  2. Thank you. Well, part 2 is up folks. In this one I show you how to de-lid the processor and drop the temperatures by a massive amount. It's a bit risky but well worth it in my opinion. If you've got any questions, let me know.
  3. I'll get some footage from my ferrets next time and have it be a bit more entertaining .
  4. Thank you for understanding the situation. You seem like a well rounded guy.
  5. It's just that I posted this video on a couple of other forums and they all welcomed it and liked my angle. I understand now though that it is against CoC.
  6. Such a hostile environment. I literally don't care if I get any subscribers or not. I'm not a youtube partner and I don't have any ads on my channel. Thank you guys. Like I said, it's my take and I really believe it is the best value for money you can get right now. Couldn't care less about views.
  7. Part 1 - Components: Part 2 - De-lidding and re-lidding: Just my 2 cents. Let me know what you guys think.
  8. Yeah, alot of head ache and expenditure. Even if I were to do it, I can't find any pre-builts online that come with those processors.
  9. Good idea, but I don't think vendors control that. Vendors are not OEMs and these processors are sold exclusively to OEMs such as Dell, Acer, HP, etc.
  10. That's why I tell people not to browse the internet with their phone. http://ark.intel.com/products/76642/Intel-Core-i7-4770R-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz?q=4770r "Tray" means that they are not BGA. The eDRAM is integrated into the processor on a secondary die. It doesnt need to be soldered to a motherboard. Did you guys not read that I already have an APU system?
  11. The processors in question are Haswell i5 and i7 based. They are the i5 4570R, i5 4670R, and the i7 4770R. They are the only Intel desktop processors available with Iris Pro HD5200 graphics. I'm putting together a super tiny HTPC rig and I'm trying to grab as much CPU and GPU horsepower as I can. I want to stay away from APUs as I've already got a rig with one up and running. The aforementioned processors are availble as "Tray only" which means they are sold exclusively to OEMs so they are incredibly tough to find if you are an end user. I found two of them here: http://www.upgradebay.com/Products/ProductInfo.aspx?Product=4670R http://www.upgradebay.com/Products/ProductInfo.aspx?Product=i5-4570R Problem is that they are asking almost twice as much as it would normaly cost. If anyone knows where one could find one for close to "retail" price, please do let me and the rest of the community know. Maybe someone that has connections with an OEM could lend me a hand. At any rate, suggestions are appreciated.
  12. I've had this motherboard and a pair of Xeons for quite a while now. Both of the CPUs and the motherboard are watercooled. Problem is that they are housed inside a cheap (relatively) and stupid Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra. I'm looking for something a bit more modern and slick looking. I'm still going to be watercooling the rig so a case with that option is preferred. I was looking at the Cosmos II but that case is a bit too big and a bit too expensive. If you guys know of any chassis that fits the criteria, please do let me know. Many thanks. PS: Picture of the rig is attached.
