Can I ask what shops? I just had a look at Cex and see used 3080 10GB from £600 there. I've not bought from them before, but it looks like they offer 2 year warranty on all purchases?

I'll throw in as a consideration the VRAM quantity. Presuming the 3080s on sale are 10GB model, not the newer 12GB model (don't see one in stock online at Cex) then the 12GB of the 4070 Ti might be factor too. Newer games may be starting to use more VRAM than before if you turn the quality settings up. While I wouldn't over focus on VRAM quantity, having a bit more might leave you in a better position for new titles over the next couple years or so, without having to reduce settings.

    3070 won't require a osu change.  3080 will.

3070 is a good 1440 UW card, as is the 6800xt but don't think you can run it on 600w?  Someone can chime in.

people have very mixed opinions about used cards, but you can get a used nvidia 3xxx for very good prices on ebay, or other used mediums.

Personally, I really love Nvidia's software(GeForce Experience) and drivers. For that reason alone, I typically advocate for Nvidia cards over most other options for any serious workloads.

With that said, I will not recommend buying Nvidia's 40-series just due to the price versus the performance increase. An RTX 3070 or 3080 will still be plenty usable for years to come.

A couple of things could be happening.

First of, microbial growth that limits the flowrate (clogging)
Dusty rad/fans that deliver sup par heat dissipation.
Bad mount where there is less contact between the IHC and the cooler
Bad thermal paste application (which I doubt)

Id suggest cleaning your case if it need cleaning and check your thermals after.

As for aircooling the 3900X, its fine just fine with a good cooler.
I am personally a big fan of anything Noctua.

My only comment is indoor equipment is usually not tested to operate in outdoor temperatures (being very hot or cold).   You can protect it from getting wet, but it may not survive the temperatures..

Outdoor equipment should be designed to handle the wider range of conditions outdoors.  An indoor unit in a waterproof box would most likely overheat.

If they still have to pull the cable, buy enough length of Cat6 cable. And ask them really nicely to add it to their cable. Should be about the same amount of work, besides the 10 minutes of pleading.

    Gday Scottie,

I feel your pain, i have been struggling with the same question, and eventually came to the conclusion i'm sticking with 2 seperate builds.

The main reason is that there is always a tradeoff in dual system cases. A Dual PSU with a Dual system case is near impossible to obtain (or so it seems), which means you'll have to buy a dual system psu. With a 3080 in the planning, that also means the 1000watt version won't be enough, so getting the phanteks 1600 will cost quite a bit, i think i would have to pay almost 300 bucks for it.

Next to the cost of this, eventually you will also run into issues with expansion. especally in the storage section.

If you don't care about the budget and just want to stick with the 4 hdd's you currently have, a phanteks revoltx 1600w, with an enthoo 2 could work.
