did you checked if the processor was overheating too?

Not as thoroughly as the GPU, but it seems to hit a max of 65C.

I should mention, this testing was done on discord, and I could still hear my friends talking, and they could hear me too. The display said it couldn't detect an input, even when removing and reinstalling the cable between the monitor and GPU

  2. Hello. I recently submerged my PC in mineral oil, and despite temps not being too hot, it'll randomly black screen while playing games. It doesn't happen during any GPU stress tests (at least running Heaven for an hour, it didn't.). This happened in Fortnite, Crab Game, GTA5, and I'm not sure why. I tried undervolting my GPU, didn't fix it. It's in a 10 gallon tank, with a d5 pump and a 240mm rad hooked up. Temps at max hit around 81C, but normally 60~ C. Any ideas?

only other things i can think to try is to re-seat ram(also try with only one stick at a time) and all of the psu connectors, and try with no sata cables connected(grasping at straws on that one). just to make sure, the pc was off and the psu switched off when you installed the drive?

The memory thing fixed it! I have no clue how, but trying one stick at a time made it work, and then putting in both worked. I have no clue why, lmao, but thanks!

  4. Hello, I'm trying to set up a phone for my nearly blind step grandmother, so she can call if there's an issue.

We're planning on using Hey Google for interaction, however we're running into trouble with voice training as she cannot read the words. Is it possible to use have Hey Google turned on without recognition? I remember you used to, but I can't seem to find it now.

    No.

Because it isn't 80+...? And it's not like 80+ rating means it's not trash, the exploding PSU from Gigabyte was Gold rated.

Return it and get something decent.

Post what you want to power and people can help you find something better, or just check the tier list and get something from at least tier C.

Ok, thanks! Was just getting it as a spare unit, will probably end up returning it.

It looks like EVGA changed their box design for the N1. No worries there.

    Here's a review of the PSU: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/evga-650w-n1-power-supply-review

If you haven't used it yet, you could return it and get a better PSU.

It's not terrible, but definitely not suited for any modern computer that needs 750w. Not even for mid range gaming computers.

If you post full system specs and budget we can help find a better PSU.

Alright, I'll probably just end up returning it as I just wanted to get a spare one Incase.

I'm trying to check my modem settings, will likely have to reset it in order to access it, however this randomly started maybe a few days ago? Before, I was having the normal 20 to 30 up, and now it's just dropped. I can try to check the cable and see as well, it's possible the cat chewed through it.

Cables are all good, am I safe to factory reset the modem? It's not a combo unit but I'd rather not lose my settings and connected devices, although I'm fairly certain those are put on the router.

That means you have Cable Internet. The problem is cable internet is susceptible to congestion due to how its designed. Depending on your provider will likely depend on how much congestion. Over the last two years Cable providers have been hit hard. Especially on the unload side due to all the work/school from home.

Id say between 7am and 5pm is work. When people get off work thats prime time, which is when everyone and their mom and dog are using the internet. 2am could be a maintenance thing. That all being said, it could also be a signal issue. Meaning you have some kinda of interference on the coax and its causing upstream channels to not bond. Modern cable networks uses multiple frequencies to speed up download and upload. If there is interference on the bands being used, then those channels might not lock, meaning you get slower speeds to no network connectivity.

This is an example from my cable modem. You see how there are multiple downstream and upstream channels? Generally on the upstream side if you have high power levels, like 52dB+ you have issues. On the downstream side if you look at the bottom table you will see a ton of Uncorrectable codewords corresponding with the channel in the first table. In the case of my service, its not an issue because those numbers are over a long period of time, you will know you have issues if you reboot your modem and suddenly have 1000s of uncorrectable codewords on one channel.

  9. I got this fella on sale during black Friday, for another server build (probably TrueNas core or unRAID) and I'm looking for the cheapest way to get 32gb or 64gb of storage. I saw some postings online about server memory, which I think would work, but I'm not entirely sure. I saw the term "RDIMM" on some of the ones I was considering.

Probably gonna go with a 2600 CPU, or if I can get a decent deal, a 3600 or 3700, not sure which video card I'll go with.

    Thanks for the help!

    100Mbit on VDSL? Lucky guy.

    You'll need a modem that's compatible with VDSL2, here's an example

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/114949168501?hash=item1ac3811d75

The SB8200 is a cable modem, needs a coax cable in order to connect to the internet, a DSL modem uses a RJ11 jack that's connected to a landline, like the ones providing a phone service.

    Ah, ok, thanks!

I probably should have thought about the pair before posting it, it was actually 50mb, anyways I'll go ahead and take a look. Thanks!
