  1. I currently have the router/modem that they given you. However, I dislike how they limit a lot of options, and make it so tedious for port-forwarding among other things. I have also recently been experiencing quite a few network issues. My internet keeps repeatedly going off, then on. over, over over. etc. So I been thinking of just buying separately a router/modem. Can anyone recommend me any good ones? I prefer maybe a 2-in-1, instead of separately router then modem. Budget is about $200-$300. Current speeds is 800 from xFinity. I want to switch to at&t fiber but it's not in my area :(. Thanks *edit* https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Router-DOCSIS-Built-CBR750/dp/B08GW3H9BK https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-Router-Protection-Subscription/dp/B092VZBNCC A little overpriced for my budget. But are these any good? I don't know anything about it. https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Multi-Gig-Comcast-Internet-Motosync/dp/B09HL4RLRV?th=1 This Motorola modem/router apparently is best overall in 2023. Would buying something like this make any improvements over the rented on with Xfinity? Better ping, Speeds, connectivity. etc.
  2. Thanks for the reply. So the rear speakers are mainly just for the extra effects? If so, then I can understand that lol.
  3. I'm new to this sort of stuff, I never owned or used a soundbar or any like it. I purchased myself the Q990B as its said to be a very good soundbar. I understand and read about the disconnects however, I haven't ran into that yet and hope not too. My question is however, when watching a movie on Netflix that supports Dolby Atmos, the main soundbar is doing all the loudness, however when going near the rear speakers, i only hear very faintly from it. Is this intended? Thanks Also, another question. I'll be having the rear speakers on Speaker Stands next to my sofa (left and right). Should I have the face-speakers facing towards me? Whats the best position? Update: I noticed the movie didn't have 5.1 detailed, maybe that's why? It did have Atmos but not 5.1. I'll try looking for something that has both
  4. Not sure if its really a home theater setup, but for the first time I'm planning on buying a Dolby Atmos soundbar. Soundbar in question is the Samsung HW-Q990B. I hear good reviews and on certain sites it lists it as the best one on the market. So I am debating on just grabbing that one. It'll be my first, I never owned or used a soundbar, or any sort of tv-speaker external devices. I have one minor but to me a big concern. I am buying a Sofa that is only a 2-seater. (Two long cushions) so technically can be 3 seater if someone sit in middle. But there is only two cushions so its recommended for comfort to sit actually on the cushion. I plan on having both wireless speakers on the right/left side of the sofa. But this is where my concern comes in, if I sit on the left-side, will I hear more of the left-speaker than the right? & vice versa. Or is it just me overthinking this? I feel pretty stupid asking this, lol. But just don't wanna be disappointed. Lots of disappointment z-z Any other recommendations or whatnot is helpful. But that is one of my major concerns about the setup. If anyone else is sitting on a two-seat sofa but hears perfectly from both speakers.
  5. Not sure what else to do to fix it. Seems I will just run G-Sync in Fullscreen only. Hopefully the games I play will still be fine while playing them borderless. Example is FFXIV. But can anyone ease my mind and let me know if this is just a driver/g-sync issue and not the monitor? Cause my severe OCD kicking in and is primarily focused on the monitor XD
  6. I've downgraded the driver to a earlier version and it still appears to be an issue. By researching, it seems to be an issue even going far back to 2018. I might try 1 more roll-back of a driver, but perhaps it's just an issue I have to deal with and just put it only fullscreen.
  7. I have purchased the new Alienware OLED display. I had been enjoying it, and don't think I had any issues. Until I done a factory reset. Maybe its just me, but when I move my curser around the application, my screen flickers/changes brightness rapidly. Even does it when I move my mouse away from the application until I stop moving the curser It only then feels and looks fine when moving off the application, and by doing it with other applications like steam, discord, etc it does not behave like that. Is this normal? Maybe just a old application? I have a video, however not sure how to upload it. https://vimeo.com/751902823 Maybe this link will direct you to a video I took. Hope it helps. *Edit* Maybe I've found the issue. I had plugged HDMI into my oled LG tv, and I've ran the same scenario. It did not behave like how it did on my monitor. I have disabled G-SYNC and it fixed the issue on the monitor. Seems it will only behave like that when I have G-SYNC on "Windowed & Fullscreen". However, I always preferred using this option instead of "Fullscreen only". If playing a game in borderless, will G-SYNC work?
  8. Seems I finally found a fix. Apparently a Hotfix for a Nvidia Driver was released regarding some issues in YouTube displaying dark area's while idle. I'm not 100% certain that this Hotfix will work, however by having it I haven't encountered the issue while using Google Chrome again. Only time will tell, as it sometimes does it at random. I suppose I didn't downgrade my Nvidia driver far enough xD. So if anyone is having any of the issues I am facing, try downloading this Hotfix and I hope it works for you. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/476176/announcing-geforce-hotfix-driver-49698-released-11/
  9. I just used Edge and the issue appeared as well on YouTube. o.o. So now I'm thinking it's something to do with "Chromium"? Cause Firefox doesn't. But what I'm confused about is why is anything related to Chrome / Chromium is making my screen darker than it should be? It's really annoying. I have no idea what is causing it. Clearly it has to be something to do with whatever Edge / Chrome is built on like Chromium, because it doesn't happen with Firefox.. sigh So for example.. In this video. 45 seconds in the video, he highlights two items that makes the video darker. This is normal obviously. But what Chrome / Edge likes to do, is while the video is that dark both browsers tend to randomly as well darken the outside of the video. Just like the video I provided above. Will test this new Hotfix once im home. Though I did downgrade Nvidia Driver so idk.
  10. I would assume it is. I have no idea why it began doing that. I installed a older version of chrome and driver but still happened. So must be something with windows update that also has the same feature in windows 11 that doesn’t do well with chrome. I don’t know. but at this time, I’ve yet noticed it in Firefox. I tried replicating it, having many videos playing and in background. No such darkening or weird things happened. So meh. I hope it’s just a software thing. edge is that good now? Last I heard it sucked, but that was long time ago, so I never given it a chance. Only other browser I remembers using when I was younger was Firefox so I tried that lol. I’ll test edge out
  11. Like to update my post. unfortunately, downgrading Nvidia Driver, and google chrome did not fix the issue. Only other way of not experiencing this is by using a different browser. Like Firefox. I’ve not yet seen the issue with it. Only thought now is google chrome vs windows version? Idk. I have no idea what is causing it. This is all I’ve done so far; - Re-installed Google Chrome. - Fresh Installed Windows 11. - Turned high-performance / Ultimate Performance on. - Played with a few settings in the monitor OSD -Upgraded / Downgraded Nvidia Drivers. - Downgraded Google Chrome - Configured a few settings within Windows 10 / 11 settings. (Turn off stuff, etc). My current setup is; CPU: i9 9900k Mobo: Asus Z390-e GPU: EVGA 3080 ti Operating System: Windows 11Pro - Version: 10.0.22000 (Have also tried Windows 10 Pro) Windows Dark Mode Google Chrome (Built-in) YouTube Dark mode.
  12. I've already done that. I set it to "Ultimate" as well. I've already done a reintall of google chrome, as well updated fresh to windows 11. Still happened. However, I am on a hunch that it might be the latest Nvidia Driver 492.76. I cant exactly remember why/when I updated my driver. Though I know I did while having the monitor. First 1-2 months fine, upgraded nvidia driver "to either fix this issue or just wanted to upgrade" then it all started happening. (I have bad memory) lol. I am hoping it might be a bug within the Nvidia Driver. I just downgraded to version 492.39, been trying for 30minutes trying to replicate it to happen again, watching youtube videos .Nothing as of yet. @dotadave I am hoping that you can give me some information as to what GPU / Driver Version you were or are on while its also happening to you as well. If you are by chance, using Google Chrome darkmode, and using Nvidia Driver 492.76. It could be it. Also::: I haven't encountered this issue before with my old monitor as well. Just started or noticed it this month. So either it was a driver update, or it is the monitor just getting all weird on me. But my currently i have: I9 9900k EVGA 3080 TI 750 PSU (gold) Windows 11 pro (I was also on Windows 10 when it happened). Everything worked fine. Just hoping it might be the driver now. z-z
  13. I was able to capture it. As you can see, the screen is all dark, and by moving my mouse it fixes the brightness or something. W
  14. Seems like switching to Firefox worked? I haven't noticed it dim or darken my screen while on firefox. However, while on Google Chrome, sometimes with a video on another tab / or something in background animated/movie etc. It'll randomly dim/darken the outer layer of my "video" or some content. It would also darken and dim my taskbar. By fixing it, same thing applies. Just moving putting some sort of responsiveness near the area. etc. Should I still send in for repair or think some sort of google chrome thing? z-z
  15. Damn. Lemmie know if u ever find the issue, or if its just how it comes. I might contact LG and see if they reply. I haven't seen anything regarding to Energy Saving on my monitor. :/
  16. I've purchased this monitor 3 months ago, and so far nothing has beaten it. I've upgraded from a old 1080p monitor. So this thing is a big upgrade. I've been loving it. I'm not sure if this is a monitor issue, or setting? Maybe this is just normal for these more modern type of monitors. However, I have a issue with dimming? Ive only noticed it while on google chrome, using dark mode. (Didn't try light mode). Everytime I'm browsing, having tabs open. My monitor quickly dims some areas and goes back to normal. Happens in like half a second. Its super quick but just enough to notice. However, it seems so-far to only happen when I have a application in the back-ground that switches colors, or does something. For a example; I am playing "Dead by Daylight" waiting for a lobby. I am browsing YouTube. My monitor then dims quickly then goes back, and when I check game after it seems I just got into a lobby. So maybe it dims because my game in the background changes? By going off of this, it does happen when I have no games in the background too. But when I switch tabs, or something it happens randomly but rarely. Anyone know or experienced this? Much appreciated <3
  17. Should be my last thread concerning about this monitor. I've had this monitor for a couple days already, once recieved I checked for any dead / stuck pixels and haven't found anything. Screen also seems fantastic. Haven't really noticed any issues. Firstly, I enabled g-sync inside NCP, I am currently using "Game 1" profile. I don't know if I should use the RGB profile or not. I also overlocked it so I have 180hz. I have a few questions regarding this monitor. Q: Should I keep my "Local Dimming" set to Aggressive? or keep it disabled? I fear by having it prolonged with Aggressive, something might turn up damaged? idk. Q: I am currently using Game 1 profile. Should I switch to "sRGB" profile? I hear that this monitor it is calibrated. But unsure. I think that's about it. My main concern is just the Local Dimming. Thanks
  18. Thanks for the replies. As for, "First-Time Setup". Can anyone recommend me a few steps? As a monitor that comes with newer technology, than what I have. I'm unsure on what really to do. I guess as from what I can tell, ill start by doing these: 1. Make sure firmware or whichever is up to date. 2. Enable G-Sync Ultimate in Nvidia Control Panel (Via Fullscreen). “Does it also work in Fullscreen Boarderless?” 3. Enable over-clock to get the 180hz. 4. Maybe set Local Dimming to Aggressive? Though I am unsure on which preset I should set it for, I know the monitor is calibrated out the door from what I read. But I assume if I'm gaming, I set it to Gamer 1? Though, no idea if I should mess with any color settings etc on that preset.
  19. I've bit the bullet and ordered myself the 34GP950 Ultrawide Monitor. Coming from a Asus VG248QE 24 inch. By comparing both, it appears that the 34Gp950 is better in all regards besides Response-Time?. Also, my current monitor has no VRR support, so I opted to get a nice G-Sync Ultimate monitor. I also checked a website that shows the size comparisons and it seems that the 34gp950 screen will have a bit more height as well of course, the length. So moving onwards towards a bigger monitor is going to be new to me. Seeing how I am coming from a 1080p monitor. Will the 3440-1440p be more "crisp" / or look better overall? I hope in the end, I can see a more beautiful display when I turn it on and play some games. Also, about the g-sync ultimate. Seeing how it as a module inside, do I still need to go into the Nvidia Control Panel and enable the G-Sync for it to work? -- I'd like to ask another question if anyone knows. If I were to enable g-sync in the Control Panel, and choose "Fullscreen" Does it work also with "Fullscreen Borderless?" Thanks
  20. Oof. I see. Yeah. The fan is the only thing bothersome. If I were to hear the fan during normal use - gaming etc. would that be considered a defect? when you say use a can of air to blow the dust off the fan. Do I open up the monitor to do so or I assume there is a hole or something behind to blow? Xp
  21. I see, thanks for the answer. That's cool. Seeing how you know your stuff, I am really stuck between the two monitors. Price isn't much of an issue, its just between one monitor with G-Sync Compatible, and the other with G-Sync Ultimate.. Will I really tell the difference between the two in gaming? If I have no see-able or feel-able difference between the two, I dont mind going cheaper and not get the G-Sync Ultimate. Also, with the G-Sync Ultimate, it has a fan inside the monitor. Is it a dust-magnet? or will it get dusty? Over-time, I kinda dont wanna take it apart and clean the fan xD. Ruin the monitor etc.
  22. Sorry for bringing this back, I have a question regarding the g-sync. On paper, it says g-sync compatible works from 48-144hz. However, if a monitor is overclockable such as the GN850 to reach 160hz. Will the g-sync then increase to 48-160hz? Or is it forever 48-144hz? Thanks for any clarity on this question.
  23. That’s true. Adaptive sync is the same as free sync etc? I’ve also read that the gp83a comes with more defects. Though I got no idea.
  24. I'm picking between either the LG 34GN850 or the newer 34GP950 Ultrawide Monitors. By comparing both of them along with the newly released review from Rtings. I've found that they are indeed pretty much the same. Only differences I been able to figure out is that the newer model has HDR600 and not 400, and G-sync Ultimate and not Free-sync. + higher refresh rate. However, compared to the lesser model, it has better response time @ max refresh rate. Practically it I believe. Narrowing both the comparisons that will benefit myself, is mainly the g-sync differences. I won't use any monitor for HDR gaming because I have a LG Oled for that, and because majority of monitors cant even produce true HDR. So in the end, would I be better off getting the lesser model GN850 for 300$ less and stick with Free-sync? I have no idea the benefits of G-sync Ultimate and Free-sync besides that Ultimate allows 1-144hz and free-sync is 48-144hz. So really comes down to if i'm going to be hitting those bottom-tier fps. However, I have a i9 9900k + 3080ti. So I doubt i'll be hitting below 48fps unless its a intense loading screen/loading in objects but only lasts a few moments then back to perfect smooth gameplay. Though, what are you guy's thoughts? 34GN850 good enough? xp
