  1. I struggled to find something higher spec within a reasonable price range. I did, however, find this. It's the Pavilion Gaming 15 (top screenshot), as opposed to the Pavilion Power 15. For exactly £100 more the CPU is an I5-8300H instead of an I5-7300HQ and the GPU is a GTX1050TI 4GB instead of a GTX1050 2GB. Unfortunately, the more expensive one appears to be a downgrade on the storage front but I can't complain about 128GB of SSD storage considering thats enough to put the OS, my browser, and key programmes on. Do you think the upgraade, if it can be described as that, is worth the £100? Are there any better alternatives at this price point? The Pavilion Gaming 15, the top screenshot, is £699. The Pavilion Power 15 is £599. Thanks!
  2. Intel Core i5-7300HQ Quad Core Processor 15.6" Full HD IPS Screen Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD Dedicated GeForce GTX 1050 2GB Graphics HP Pavilion Power 15. £599. I'm after a rather discreet looking laptop that I can use for both university and for some decent gaming and this seems alright. Are there any alternatives to this within the range of £600 - £800 that might be preferable? Thanks!
  3. I'm just looking for a laptop in the region of £500 - £900 ish that I can use for games such as PUBG, Wargame Red Dragon, HOI4, Civ 6, and GTA 5 without much lag. Thing is though, I'm looking for one without much flair. I know it sounds like a small problem but I really have no intention of taking a big ass gaming laptop with its jet engine fans around with me. I'm going to be using it for university so... Something similar in design to a HP Envy without the ridiculous flair of a device like the HP Omen while still packing the power, or thereabouts, of the Omen. Is that possible? Thanks
  4. Hey. I did actually end up getting another Xiaomi. I've purchased the Mi-9t. Definitely overbudget but who cares. Thanks anyway!
  5. Hey lads, I'm looking to buy a phone within the range of £100 to £175 ($125 - $220 | €110 - €195). I only use my phone for stuff like Reddit, snapchat, Whatsapp, and browsing the internet so it doesn't need to be that good. Just able to run those stuff without any lag or problems. I'm aiming for quite a big screen, as I've grown accustomed to it with the Xiaomi note 2, and a decent battery life (3000 MAH+) although that isn't too much of a problem because i carry a 20K MAH battery pack around with me. And for the sake of patriotism, I would prefer a European phone but obviously not gonna sacrifice too much for that aim Thanks!
  6. Dropped my phone earlier today and it's been working until now. Now the top 1/3rd of the screen is the only bit that displays normally, then there's a white line separating the working 1/3rd with the not displaying 2/3rds below. The touch screen works in both the top 1/3rd and the bottom 2/3rds. Screenshotting does not capture the 2/3rds that are black, instead it shows them as if it was normal. The phone is a Xiaomi note 2. I made a very shitty example: Is this a problem I can solve myself? Is this a problem I can get resolved by taking it to a phone shop? Do I need a brand new phone? Thanks!
  7. Bit of an odd one but games on my PC (seen it happen with PUBG, GTA V, Wargame: Red Dragon and Overwatch) as well as programs (Chrome, parts of screen go black like scroll bar) seem to crash or stop functioning properly at 75% RAM usage. For context my computer has an I5-6600K, R9 390, 850 watt PSU and 16GB 2133MHZ ram using 2 out of 4 slots on the motherboard. The issue usually manifests in games crashing with error reports stating that there is a lack of memory, it also oddly sometimes results in (in the case of Overwatch/Hoi4) a Windows popup saying that there is no memory left or a game crash saying that there was no memory left. Sometimes both appear. I've uploaded a screenshot showing the windows error from when PUBG crashed: it popped up with this error for Windows Chrome while at the same time PUBG crashed. Despite the error coming up for Chrome it did not close but PUBG did.. I've also taken a screenshot of the RAM and its usage before the crash: Does anybody know what's going on here? How can I resolve it? Do you need anymore information? Just had another crash. Didn't screenshot but looked like this:
  8. I'm looking to buy a cheap smartphone to use as a spare and to use as a replacement for my Xiaomi temporarily - the current phone I've found is this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SIM-Free-Mobile-Phones-Blackview-BV2000-4G-Dual-SIM-Cheap-Smartphone-5-0-Inch-HD-Unlocked-Phone-with-8MP-Camera-MTK6735-Quad-core-8GB-ROM-Andriod-5-1-Cellphone-with-Two-Original-Battery-Covers-Gry/dp/B075VS4YP4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1511801289&sr=8-8&keywords=Cheap+phone It doesn't need to do much apart from Snapchat, Reddit, phone and messaging as well as browsing. Is the phone on Amazon a decent phone or can anybody recommend another phone in that price region (definitely below £65)
  9. I'll try taking it to a repair shop. I need a phone for the work I do - how long do you think it would take to repair? Can I trust a phone repairer?
  10. So I dropped my phone today and since then it hasn't been charging at all except for a brief period after I removed the case and fiddled around with the charging slot but it soon stopped charging. The phone is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro so I wouldn't count on a warranty. The phone does not charge at all and died at 1% so I don't think it is a problem with the battery. I have used two chargers and both heat up dangerously when I try to charge the phone despite the fact that they don't seem to be doing anything. It smells of smoke after 30-ish seconds of trying to charge. The phone has not been exposed to any liquids recently however it may have been exposed to rain a few days ago when heavy rain soaked through into my pocket. Happy to answer any questions that could help establish the problem. Is the phone dead?
  11. Hey so I'm looking to buy a decent microphone that I can use with my desktop PC. I'll be using it for voice dictation so that I can do my work without having to type it but can instead just say it out loud. Please consider that my desk is really small and so I'd probably need it to attach to something. My monitor is a Dell U2515H if that is of any relevance. What price range are we looking at here? Thanks!
  12. The slight smash in the top left of the phone would drastically reduce the price I think.
  13. So I've gone and bought a new phone - the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 to be precise which I'll be using instead of my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro that I've had for a bit over a year. So in the interests of not just throwing my old phone in a draw and never touching it again - how can it be used? I was thinking of using it for word processing on the go? What would be the best way to use it for word processing? Install some other operating system? What apps would I be looking at installing?
  14. 1.I do not have Corsair RGB fans or RAM. 2. I use the Corsair provided software - Corsair Utility Engine if that's what you're asking 3. I believe you can although don't take my word on it.
  15. Then that keyboard should be absolutely fine although it is worth noting that RGB tends to become a bit gimmicky after a few weeks. I've pretty much never changed the RGB settings on my K95
  16. Honestly depends on what size you are comfortable with. I use a K95 RGB for my desktop and an Anne Pro for carrying around with me. Both are great.
  17. Will this phone operate okay in the UK? Will it work on the 3 network? https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_617021.html Thanks!
  18. While these are decent laptops; they are imo bulky and I'm not convinced that they are worth the drop in price relative to the Xiaomi.
  19. Well I was willing to pay £714 for that laptop so shall we put the budget at £720?
  20. I live in the United Kingdom - import fees are 20% of the total price which brings it up to £714
