  1. Ah, okay. Thanks dude! Will go for the X370, R7 1700, 8GB ram and pick the additional 8GB ram up a month later.
  2. I don't plan on overclocking above 3.8GHz. On most chips, the voltage required to push them past 3.8 is not worth the excess heat generated to the performance obtained. The system will be on for 6 hours a day approx. But, I am concerned about bandwidth restriction (PCIE lanes being lower on B350), as I'd be using all 6 SATA ports, an M.2 and a Strix 1060 GPU. And possibly in future a sound card too. As long as these get the full bandwidth, I'll go for the B350 and get the additional 8GB of ram too. But, will I get full bandwidth for my use case? For all the peripherals?
  3. I would never go for a dual graphics setup, but I do have one Strix 1060 and 6Sata drives and a M.2 PCIE boot drive ssd that I plan on using. Assuming, I use the the B350 board, will it have enough PCIE lanes to support all these at rated speeds? Or will the M.2 work at x2 speeds? Is 3000Mhz ram supported? If I get 2x8GB kit, will it run at full speed? Or will it get down clocked to 2400Mhz? Slightly unsure what single and dual rank means.
  4. How are the VRM Temps under full load on the stock Ryzen 1600? Also, I don't plan on upgrading for the next 5 years, which is why I want to go with the R7 1700, but if I spring for a X370 board, I'll have to adjust with 8Gig of ram now and another 8G later. My total budget is fixed. And, I kinda like the Strix boards.
  5. Hi guys, New to the forum, did some searching and found some related threads, but none with my use case. I am planning on taking a CPU, MOBO and ram together. I've decided on the Ryzen 7 1700, Asus Strix B350 and a 16GB DDR4 3000MHz ram. I am planning on overclocking the Ryzen 7 under stock air cooler to 3.5 and running it for three months before springing for a good water cooler and overclocking to whatever my silicon lottery takes me to. I know the Strix B350 has a 4+2(doubled) VRM design. Will the Temps be decent under said Overclock? I plan on overclocking using an offset voltage which will be applied 24x7. I don't plan on overclocking over 1.375v Vcore anyway. Depending on the CPU, it could result in a 3.5GHz-3.7GHz Overclock. I also plan on fully populating all 6 Sata ports and a PCI 3.0x4 M.2 ssd too. Will be running my old Strix 1060. Will the PCI lanes be enough for this purpose? Or will I need a X370 board? My budget is limited to 500-550USD for the three items. The other alternative would be to, go for 1600x and master liquid 240, making the overall price same.
