SupaKomputa got a reaction from RevGAM in Why aren't AIO gpu coolers more common?
Well on CPU the install process is relatively easy.
While in GPU you need to dismantle the cooler which are more intimidating to do.

Yes, sata is 2 notch, pcie is 1 notch.
Just make sure the laptop supports m.2 NVME drives (pcie), otherwise it won't work.
For length it's pretty straightforward, just match the lenght of your current module.
Although the longer slots can accomodate the shorter one.

Intel 660p has mediocre performance, i won't get that if i were you, get samsung.

Depending on the router, some router have concurrent user limit, on basic router is around 8-12 max connection.
For 32 simultaneous connections, i suggest you build a small pc dedicated for the routing.

I would wait for 5700x3d or 5500x3d if you wanna get cheaper.

edit: Any X3D chips are worth it for gaming. even the 5600x3d beat 5700x in most games.

No. there's no point on having the same performance, other than additional ports, it won't add up to the total processing power.

You better buy a used RX580, it's $50 on ebay.

Tyan is a legit server grade motherboard maker. Not some chinese frankenboard.
X79/99 boards you found on aliexpress is using random leftover chipsets.
So you can endup with different chipset on the same motherboard layout (they probably share the design between manufacturer).

What i would do, install only windows and apps on disk 1 (keep your current drive), Relocate documents and VM to the second one (the new one).
Schedule regular backups for the boot drive once a week with macrium, that's why i use smaller boot drive for faster backup and space saving on the hdd.

Yeah the used market is great. Plenty of miners offloading their failed investments lol.

Option 1 should be good, you practically have an open case there with the big window, only need to remove some hot air.
2x20cm fan (or even 1) should be enough focusing a straight line with the cpu.

Enough? It's overkill. I think max for air cooler is $50, Ryzen is relatively cooler than Intel, and doesn't need high end heatsinks.

Go for 64, if mainly for working and especially for VM.

This is overkill for "light gaming", max i would put a 3060 / RX6600xt instead, spend the rest for say more cores (for VM).

I suggest getting 500-1tb for main drive to keep it simple, 1tb ssd for VM, and a big HDD for storage.

You can make a basic server with anything that technically qualifies as a "computer" and has networking. What do you actually want to do with it?

Ryzen right now is pretty prestigious for me over Intel for multiple reasons that might be appealing:
AMD over the last several generations has done an A++ job of keeping their older platforms alive by consistent new updates making older motherboards, CPU and chipset features backwards compatible. If you get Ryzen, you're way more likely to get some sort of new update/feature in 2028 when AMD says they'll upgrade to a new socket. Intel has already stopped releasing updates for intel 13th gen making some 14th gen only. 14th gen Intel is also last stop. Next gen is a new socket which means your new motherboard will age just one generation. In my eyes even with the significantly higher price tag than Intel motherboards AMD's a far better "investment" for longer term support. Likely in 2028 you'll still have a new CPU upgrade. Two days ago was a new leaks of some 5000 series CPU's coming soon. If they'll be like the last ones, they'll be compatible on 5 year old motherboards (if motherboard makers can be arsed to make a BIOS update which so far all have). Intel doesn't come close to this backwards compatible interchangeability. AMD has all cores be real cores AMD has their special 3D CPU's that many games turn out to absolutely adore. I'd say it's safe to assume devs have taken notice of this free real estate when it comes to performance so extra cache is is likely to turn from a nice to have but a must have. Ryzen compared to Intel is significantly more efficient. Where Intel's i9's start to come near Ryzen 3D's or 12+ core models, they're using twice as much power and need insane cooling to keep up as well, whilst Ryzen barely sweats it.  To me Ryzen is just a far more efficient product in my eyes and what the industry should move towards. Intel right now is struggling and to keep up has returned to the old ways of brute forcing performance, be damned the shortcomings elsewhere.

Get kaby lake pentium instead. Better power consumption + better video encoder + HT for a tad bit money.
As mentioned above, even better if you can get 7400t, it idles about the same as that celeron.

Why you need so much ram? Mines running perfectly fine with 8gb. Unraid doesn't need that much ram unless you're planning to run VM, which i doubt with 2 cores celeron.

No need. get a sata ssd instead as a cache drive, as you are working with large files, the files won't be stored directly in your HDD, from the network they will be placed temporarily in the SSD and later on transferred. Optane is good at caching small files.

True, extra card will only add more power consumption. I've no problem with my onboard intel sata for unraid.

For better power usage, you can also schedule sleep (install s3 sleep plugin), so that the server only wakes during working hours.

For $150 go for a used rtx 2060 or 6600xt, but try it with the integrated first.
Most strategy games are not that gpu intensive, except those with highend graphics like riftbreaker (although relatively playable in low settings).
