Found an answer with more googling I must have accidentally switched to 16 bit color when changing the resolution which is why it wasn't working thanks anyway guys.

EDIT: solved thanks anyway guys After using the steam link windows auto detected that i was getting low fps on the desktop (from the pc and link both being on wifi) and turned off windows aero now i'm haivng trouble getting it back on. I have already done some googling and windows auto troubleshooter hasn't been able to fix it. I have also tried the regedit fix to no avail. Some pictures of what im having trouble with.. windows 7 64bit
