@OliverGN And after the test if the PC won't work argue with them and ask them either get you a new Z270 as you had or replace your CPU with a 8700k because they are misleading people.

It won't work. If the store insists it works, ask them to test it in front of you.

Its his backup machine and he already got that 6600K which also won the silicon lottery so i think 100 dollar on a z170 mobo is not the worst deal and he can still sell the 7500 and his H270 board and get the money for a board from this components.

Um, no? You're not entitled to anything.
A Windows license is only valid for a single computer and isn't transferable, unless it's specifically says it can be transferred (like Retail copies).
A laptop version of Windows is non-transferable, hence you ain't entitled to anything. Go pay the $30 on kinguin and stop trying to justify your piracy.

It makes no sense. You wanted to get 7700K/ 8700K but no money for motherboard then you're going for custom liquid cooling? I'd rather you sell whatever you have, get 8700/8700K with Z370 motherboard and slap a stock/ average cooler it will be money well spent.

davyre89 got a reaction from basedthirst in Intel turbo boost during gaming?
Generally turbo boost only applies to 1 or 2 core.
If it's tasks that requires 1-2 core, it will turbo boost to 3.6GHz, else your all 4 core boost will be at 3.4GHz not sure why yours maxed at 3.2GHz though.

If the motherboard has a feature where it can charge USB devices even when powered off, then it's likely those ports are providing power and the mouse is remaining on even though nothing's really pinging it.

That or the LEDs are wired directly to USB power.

When you're installing Windows there will be a prompt for Custom installation, that way you get to reformat/ delete files from your disk before selecting it as the OS installation disk.

davyre89 reacted to Jurrunio in i5-4460 VS Pentium G4560
4460 wins every time. Dont even need a benchmark to tell you that it wins a LOT in gaming performance. While the single core performance is noticeably worse, nearly all games use all 4 cores of the i5 anyway.

You may refer to the "Maximum turbo frequency" of the following:

    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/Intel-Core i7 i7-8700K.html

Without OC or MCE features in the picture, both at all (6) core boost shows maximum frequency of 4.3GHz, 1 core boost at 4.6 vs 4.7GHz in favour of 8700K, but that's just minor 100MHz improvement. As OP stated he didn't want to OC, 8700 proves better savings compared to 8700K.

davyre89 reacted to bowrilla in Why do professors and lecturers still say 1MB = 1024KB?
The official binary prefixes were only standardized in 98. In marketing speech the SI prefixes were used synonymously for their binary counterparts since those weren't and still aren't very well known. You can also blame OS developers for calculating file sizes ins MiB yet displaying those numbers as MB. Apple made the switch to actual MB with 10.6. Ubuntu made the switch in 2010.

The issue exists for more than half a century though. SI prefixes are made for base 10 and not base 2 yet they are well known.

But don't be the smart arse pointing that out during a lecture – unless you're clever enough to phrase it as a legitimate question to give your lecturer the chance to make a valid explanation. But don't just say they're wrong – you'll only acchieve a higher ranking on their dick list. Don't be that guy.

davyre89 reacted to Sfekke in what should i buy
My brother bought a 650 Ti Boost, it lasted him 4 years playing AAA titles at 1080P 60FPS medium-high details.
If you can stick to the 1920*1080 resolution and do not go for high refresh rates a lower end graphics card is fine.
    Cheap parts =/ quick obsolesce.
You might even overpay for a 1080 since the ROI is lower aka you get less FPS per $.
I'd advise looking at benchmarks for games you play and seeing which graphics card performs adequately for your liking. (Keep the resolution and framerate in your mind!)

People have this common misconception of :
"More expensive must mean it is better in every way and lasts longer"
    Lets take an extreme example
Lets say I'm looking for a car since I just got my drivers license.
I go to a couple dealers and have a few options :
Some BMW SUV with GPS/Heated leather seats/A beefy engine for about $ 50 000 Some KIA Family car type 'o' thing with A normal radio & cd player/no gps/fabric seats/a lighter engine for $ 18 000 I only drive around town and make the occasional trip that takes me a bit longer.
The BMW might have more comfort, but I do not drive that much.
Prices are miles apart and after max 15 years I need a new one.
Road taxes and maintenance are higher on the BMW.

    Which one would I pick?
In my case give me that KIA.

It depends on the person but just look over it.
    Higher price isn't always better.
