  1. The main specs are as follows: Ryzen 5 1600 16GB Vengeance LPX X370 SLI Plus I've got a 1Gb network adapter in one of the slots at the moment and it works so i assume its not due to the motherboard not accepting non gpu cards.
  2. Hi All, I have turned an old PC into my home server and I wanted to install a 10Gb Network Card into it. I have bought a new NC523SFP and put it into the system. The system either doesn't turn on or the card doesn't show up in the system. My question is, what are the hardware requirements for the card and does it need to have a specific processor, i.e. Intel/AMD? And, if that card doesn't work, will the NC552SFP work instead? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Cooper
  3. As far as i know, according to the model number on the card it should be the NC523SFP.
  4. Hey, Just bought a HP NC523SFP 10Gb 2-port Server Adapter from eBay. I have installed it and seems to be working (based on the flashing lights on the card). When I open up my server and try to install the driver it says the Software could not be installed because the required hardware is not present in the system or the software/firmware doesn't apply to this system. The server OS is Server 2012 R2 as specified by the driver. What am I doing wrong. The drivers i'm installing are on the following site: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/km/product/4345884/Product#t=DriversandSoftware&sort=relevancy&layout=table&f:@kmswtargetproductenvironmentlatest=[4345884_Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2]&f:@kmdoclanguagecode=[cv1871440]&hpe=1. Thanks, Cooper
  5. Hey, Are you able to run pfSense on a Raspberry Pi? If you can, are there any drawbacks from doing so? Thanks
  6. Hi, I'm connecting up some Server's on a budget using fiber optic cable (LC/LC) and SFP/SFP+. I want to know if the following products will be compatible together. PCIE SPF+10G Card: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/163729687909 SFP 8G Transceiver: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lot-of-10-Brocade-57-1000012-01-8G-SW-Optical-SFP-Transceiver-Module-10-Quantity/223483789023?hash=item3408abfedf:g:WksAAOSw0ntctTBW&frcectupt=true Thanks, Cooper
  7. Hey, This is VERY risky and is not recommended. The ports you open will allow outside attackers to get an easier router into your home network. I would suggest making a separate subnet using another machine and running pfSense on it. This will allow your gaming server network to be separate from your main network meaning if something bad happened on your server network it won't affect your home network stuff.
  8. The top cable is a PWM fan extender. the bottom one is a usb 3.0 header.
  9. When you look in the BIOS does it show that your pump fan is working and at a decent RPM? Do you have an air cooler handy? That would test the theory of it being an AIO issue. I'm just throwing up ideas.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. It is a good consideration. I'm not too sure if windows server has that functionality.
  11. I have not ticked that box. I made sure everything was optimised for the quickest format. Still no luck...
  12. That is not the point, the reason to have 8 1TB is because 1, they are cheaper where i am 2, for redundancy It also means that if and when i need more i can get them one at a time and not need to buy one that is that expensive. But i did consider doing that at one stage.
  13. That was what i thought. Is there anything i can to do make it go faster?
  14. Hi All, I have just bought 8 1TB HDD's for my new storage server. I have Windows Server 2016 running and am trying to software RAID them for RAID 5. I have started the process but it seems to be taking forever. I have been waiting over 20 hours and it is still on 14% formatting. Is there anything to make it faster and is this normal for it to take this long. Thanks, Cooper
