So, They make an apology video talking about how they need to do things better and make improvements with how things are done, and the first thing they do is publicly release the $2000 monetary value of the prototype email uncensored when Billet Labs made it clear they didn't want that info released?

Lmfao, I see we are off to a great start already guys

Yeah "taken care of" like they took care of Madison.

This is a good start. It is more than obvious that LMG needs to take the foot off the gas and allow for the necessary time to prvent further mistakes and lapses in judgement like recently.

However, I doubt that taking one week to "fix stuff" is going to be enough. I am sure the team at LMG knows this, but the trust that was lost during the last couple of days is going to be hard to earn back and it certainly will take time.

I also expect them to address the whole Madison situation. Assuming what she said is true (and I have very little reason to doubt that it is), we need not only a clear acknowledgement and dialoge between LMG and Madison, but also it needs to be laid out how things have (hopefully) improved since and how LMG is going to make sure that this can never happen again. And, yes, assuming some of the people who are mentioned in Madisons accusations still work there it may actually be the time to fire someone. Accidentally auctioning off a prototype is one thing, sexual harassment is another, is never excusable and doesn't happen on accident.

They were THIS CLOSE to making a decent apology, but even looking past the unnecessary and unfunny jokes (guys, this is THE ONE TIME you need to be serious), they also had to keep advertising for the store and their products, in a paywalled video, announcing more paywalled videos about transparency, and even saying "I don't agree with every criticism with my team"

Sure, the thread by Madison is too recent to end up in the video, but are we gonna see them address this in this same fashion, which means in a video and not in a post that won't be noticed by everyone? My hopes aren't too high

She has actually distanced herself in her livestreams, I remember people pop in and ask what she does or if she still worked for LMG and she always re-directed the conversation to something else and if that didn't work, the person would be banned.

It is absolutely incorrect to say this especially taking into account that she already had a social media presence before working at LMG.

Jikes, seems like they don't understand how this, at least to some, makes them look. I think the intentions were good but the execution and understanding of the community were horrible in this case.

When addressing an issue of this scope one should not put that video behind a paywall.

To at least me, this comes out as tone-death.

LMG went from family business to a multi million corporation but kept the family business mentality. Linus fails to see that he is the villain, not the oppressed.

What happened behind the scenes is irrelevant. The concerning thing is that LMG didn't bother to resolve the situation until after there was a big public stink, and on top of that Linus bemoans the fact there was a public stink at all.

Regardless of where it was, LMG was responsible for it. Billet asked for it back. LMG ignored them and auctioned it off for charity. GN posts the video. Everyone gets mad at LMG. LMG pays Billet for the prototype. Linus complains that GN should have kept quiet before talking to him first.

You see how bad that looks?

It's interesting to see people say that Linus's response sounds corporate. To me, it sounds exactly like a typical WAN-show-style half-apology.

A great response would have been along the lines of "we're sorry, we hear you, thank you for bringing this to our attention, here's how we're going to do better:"
A corporate response would have been unhelpful, but also neutral.
And then there's the response given: 'Steve was wrong for pointing out our mistakes to the public, oh were not perfect, everyone is still wrong about the Billet situation, and also I paid them enough to leave this alone, and I'm upset people are mad over this".

C'mon, man. Really? I know you probably thought that was honest, but it's not good enough.

People are understandably upset. You want us to move past this? Give us something that proves we should. Tell us how you're going to do better. Give us something that we can hold you to. Assure me that within timeframe x we can expect improvements y,z.

Don't take this event as a personal attack, consider it a big red flag and let's find out how to move past it.

If you were "extremely" committed to improving accuracy you would release fewer videos to ensure inaccuracies do not slip through and allow time for your writers and testers to paint a more comprehensive picture of the product. We know this because it's what your own employees were asking for in those working at LTT videos. If you ignore those pleas, and the same incredibly common sentiment among your fans on these forums, I can only assume you do not care about improving the accuracy of your videos all that much, at least in comparison to maximizing profit. Your refusal to even entertain the idea, to even mention it in your responses as one solution to the perceived problems, speaks volumes to where your priorities lie.

Why should I trust your accuracy in the future if I can't trust it right now? Ten million dollar lab or ten billion, it's worthless without the right methodology or reporting standards.

But then why not wait and do do diligence before publishing a review? After the first mistake and second, why didnt you step back, assess the situation, and determine to have extra checks in place to ensure the accuracy of reviews through this growing phase.

Like I said before, the goal of LTT in my mind is to make the best videos anf provide the best content and coverage on computer hardware. And yes, mistakes happen, thats okay, and we get it. But constant errors showing up in reviews, and leaving the videos up when they should have been taken down rubs me the wrong way, and demonstrates a higher priority of the youtube algorithm than integrity in reviews.

As i keep saying, it really hurts me to talk about this as im a big fan, but I know that construcive criticism is the only way for people you idolize to improve, and I want you to improve.
