  1. Hello, So I have been interested in getting a PCI-E SSD for a while, and well, while doing my research I got confused as there are two variants? (NVMe and some SATA based one?), since most of you here have more knowledge than me on motherboards, would my motherboard support booting from a Kingston 240GB KC1000 PCI-E SSD? Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P (rev 1.0) (AM3+ SOCKET). If it doesn't support it then would my backup plan of purchasing a new CPU, MOTHERBOARD & RAM be a better approach (Would be averaging £600 total for a Ryzen 5 1600*, 16GB of Corsair value select ram & some motherboard that's got an M.2 slot- not entirely sure what to get) *will be waiting until the 2nd gen has been launched and most likely be purchasing. I can provide current specifications for my computer if needed/curious.
  2. Aha, I like ARK a lot, I have it on the PS4 simply because I can't run it on my computer without having terrible lag due to the little/no optimization that Wildcard Studio pushed with the game it's self. This is in the lowest settings it can go. And anyway, no game is visually enjoyable if its on really low settings
  3. Yeah, well I know for a fact, that using an SSD is a huge bump from the HDD as I used to have an SSHD, much quicker boot times, though, the SSHD decided one day to not work. So I got a refund for it aha. Though I have heard great things about M.2/PCI-E storage and it's speed.
  4. You will be more than certainly fine, I have an uneven RAM configuration (1x 8GB stick & 1x 4GB stick) works perfectly fine for me If I am correct, different memory speeds may cause system instability, though would need someone to clarify on that as I haven't tested myself.
  5. Yeah, I paid for most of my system, though my old PSU didn't support the 6PIN that my GPU needed. So swapped it out for the free one that was given to me. What exploded to then I just purchased Corsair RM850x. The PSU should certainly support the TR build that I will do sometime in the future once I finish programming these websites and put them up for sale to start getting a decent income other than relying on working with family.
  6. Yeah, I was planning to upgrade my system gradually, though in pure honesty I don't see any point, id rather wait and have a new fresh system. Of course I can save some parts from my old system, such as my PSU & HDDs (though most likely will invest in SSD storage (M.2?)) what I upgraded this year, because my old one exploded (go figure, it wasn't a reputable brand and was given to me for free aha).
  7. Yeah, I mean I want to play some games such as ARK: Survival Evolved but the GPU simply isn't enough for such a game like it. Also the settings I play most games are either low or medium My GPU is: MSI R7 260X OC 2 GB if you are wondering. PS: Thank's for telling me about GPU-Z
  8. I can agree they aren't terrible. And I am not entirely sure, I mean I do get over 100 FPS in some games I play today (such has GTA 5) and that was from the CPU as I used to have a AMD dual core, can't remember what model though. Though, with the new technology being pushed out today, I am pretty far behind and I myself would prefer getting up to date with it all.
  9. Well, the GPU that I have is pretty darn old that I haven't ever managed to find it on the internet for sale. Its a AMD R7 200 (MSI). Not sure how old the card is exactly, though I can say I have had it for at least 3 years. But I get what your saying, pretty much go big or go home haha.
  10. So I am best going with a Nivida card since AMD pricing is high jacked by the miners. I am planning to push a full upgrade to my system once I rack up enough funds from my programming stuff, looking to get a Ryzen 1800X system built. Though I am thinking of just saving up around £1600 for a Thread Ripper build providing I get the GPU now.
  11. Well my CPU is pretty old (AMD FX-8320. Though it still handles very good performance to this day. (I have had the CPU for around 2-3 years now i believe.)
  12. Hm, I see. Though if I was to save for the 1060 6GB I would be better saving a little extra to get the 1070 8GB, or is the card not worth the price for the performance?
  13. Yeah I can agree with that, government agencies most likely state false reasons. Might be because they aren't making as much money from them as they are with taxis.
  14. So I am trying to figure what's a better option for me, as I am currently a student my budget for upgrades are at an all-time low. So essentially, I would desire to get a graphics card that allows me to play ARK: Survival Evolved and PUBG along with a few other games on high quality (or at least, a better looking quality than "low" :P). So I have been recommended the GTX 1050 Ti numerous times by my friend, though I want something that is worth the upgrade. I have been considering the 1050 Ti, though I have also been considering buying from the RX lineup from AMD. Essentially, what are your opinions on the RX line up and the GTX 1050 Ti, and have you used any of them while playing such games? Also, if you have any other GPUs in mind, state them and ill look at them .
