  2. Hello fellow forum users, there's tons of these posts out in this thread about people looking for laptops for going back to school/uni, so I'm going to be direct to the point. I'm looking for a portable machine that can handle intense web browsing (over 20 or so chrome tabs), document and presentation editing (basically handle a office suite no problem), software development in particular it has to be capable to run VS Code, Node.JS, a C/C++ compiler and python with some AutoCAD thrown in there, the rest I can do by offloading the workload on the home server and workstation, it would be nice if it had a touchscreen with a stylus but that's the last of my worries. The machine has to be capable of running 6 to 8 hours on battery life. From what I've gathered from my past experiences I would need a 128, preferably 256 GB SSD, 8GB of RAM and a decent CPU. I would be buying the machine either from France or Republic of Moldova, the budget is 800 euros (nvidia why you must destroy my wallet). I was considering buying a 2nd hand MacBook Pro 13" from 2015 but what are your thoughts? Any suggestions for what device I should go for?
  3. The games that will be played are either Android and iOS only and they're gonna be played for small intervals. I prefer to stay away from lenovo due to bad experience with their products in the past. And yes I am aware that I can get it working on iOS/Android, while microsoft office can be used just fine and onenote can be replated with another note app the things I'm giving up going on full mobile platform are IO like VGA/HDMI, USB type A, Thunderbolt 3. It looks pretty good for what it has, doe flimsy hinge and smooth surface are kind of a downside aswell as being overkill with the dedicated graphics but I'll keep it in mind!
  4. Hi everyone, I'm looking for a tablet or a 2-in-1 like the surface pro to use as my portable machine while I'm out to university and/or work. The device will be used for Plex media consumption on the go (LTE connectivity provided my wireless portable hotspot), casual mobile gaming (windows is fine, can use a android emulator), taking notes and making quick sketches so a touchscreen is needed, stylus/pen is optional, document processing and web browsing. The expected battery life is to be 8 to 10 hours doing these at random while mostly focusing on web browsing and document work. The budget is at most 1750 Euros. The country is France. So far I've been looking into the Microsoft Surface Pro i5 model with accesories, iPad Pro with accesories, Samsung Galaxy Book, Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and the Dell Latitude 5290. Windows Hello for windows devices is a welcome thing or a fingerprint sensor for apple/android devices. The physical keyboard and touch display is a must while the pen/stylus is not that important. Storage has to be 256-512 GB range. RAM probably 8 GB for the windows devices since I would do more multitasking on that. The most important thing is the battery life and display being over 1080p or more.
  5. Thank you everyone for helping me out, so far I got the system stable running 4.9GHz at 1.44V, I think I may have some headroom to go further but it seems the chip just doesn't want to go beyond that.
  6. Thank you for the guide, it explains a lot more that what I could find, but what about RAM overclocking, any tips on that?
  7. Hi fellow enthusiasts I recently bought myself a gaming pc that sports a Intel Core i7-8700K on a Asus Maximus X Formula motherboard with Dual Channel 2x16 GB G-Skill Trident Z RGB 2400MHz CL15 RAM. I tried looking online for overclocking guides and information about what each of the UEFI settings mean but I only could find what some things are without anyone giving a straight answer. So far by trial and error got the CPU running at 4.9 GHz with variable voltage and the RAM running on it's default XMP profile, temperature wise it sits at 86 degrees under full load so I think I can push it further a little. I want to reach the sweet 5 GHz barrier, but when I dial in the 50 multiplier and even try to put a load on the CPU it instantly BSODs. Any help is appreciated! I would love if someone gave me some more materials on how all of this works since I'm kind of new to the overclocking scene.
  8. Well due to the last decently priced Strix 1080 Ti being sold out I was left with the option of getting the Titan XP GE, I don't really see the point of spending 50 euros more on the 1080 Ti custom power delivery and beefier cooling when I can get a better performing, even if marginally, Titan XP. As for what @Daniel644 was saying, I was really considering getting a Titan V in it but I dropped the idea since the card does destroy any 10 series card it has that "early adopter" fee and risks associated with it.
  9. Oh the budget is not a problem, I just want the best performing card that's available.
  10. Yeah that's what I was projecting myself, about 9 months for the Ti reference card and another 3-4 months for 3rd party cards.
  11. If you're going for a pure performance system I suggest replacing the RGB RAM with a more plain kit, that should give you some money back.
  12. Hello fellow computer enthusiasts, I am currently sitting with a 99% done gaming rig, the only thing missing is the GPU, I've had a order for a Asus Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC but unfortunately the store ran out of stock before the order actually got processed so I've been put on a 2 month long waiting list. I already canceled the order since I can't wait that long for this card. I've been looking at other retailers and they sell the same card for 1010 euros, I ordered mine for 946 euros. So I've been debating between ordering this card or putting a little bit more money and buying the Titan XP Collectors Edition straight from nVidia for 1130 euros, but a friend of mine recommended me to wait for the 20 series GPUs. But the big problem is that I want to get the Ti model of the flagship card with a OEM cooling sollution and higher clock speeds. What would be the best course of action right now? Buy the 1080 Ti Strix and get it in 4 days? Buy the Titan XP and get it the next day or wait for the 20 series Ti cards?
  13. Hello fellow pc enthusiasts, I'm looking for a case to fit my half finished gaming rig, the theme is black and red so I try to keep that, the system has a ATX motherboard, the Maximus X Formula to be exact, a 240mm AIO and a big GPU, a Asus Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC, I would love the case to have USB 3.1 gen 2 type C in the front but it's not the end of the world, I was initially thinking of getting the InWin 805 Infinity but then I read the reviews online about how poor of a cooling solution it has, after a little digging I found the NZXT H700i, I like the case but it adds another RGB ecosystem to the rig which isn't preferable. I'm currently set on using the Asus Aura for the mobo, GPU and RAM while Corsair Link will handle the fans, AIO and RGB strips. EDIT: I forgot to mention that the system has 1 500GB 2.5" SSD aswell as 2 3TB 3.5" HDDs.
  14. Yeah money is not an issue, thanks for the advice, to be honest I love the formula for it's armor and that sexy VRM waterblock
