So make sure that assuming the device is ARC compatible plug that into the TV and then what ever else is connected to the TV via other HDMI ports should route through teh sound bar/system?

You can use both Freesync and G-Sync monitors on Nvidia with full support.

You can use both Freesync and G-sync monitors on AMD, but there's no adaptive sync for G-sync monitors.

I'd shoot for a high refresh rate panel if possible, 1080p 144Hz is pretty cheap yet very capable, with 1440p 144Hz being the overall sweet spot for desktop PCs IMO. If you've never used a high refresh rate panel before, head to a best buy or something and take a look at one one display. Just moving your cursor around should let you know if it's a good idea for you to get one or not, some people can't see it, other (like me) wonder how you ever lived without it.

As for other factors, take a look at the panel tech. IPS is probably gonna be the most expensive, but it'll be the most color accurate and will have the best viewing angles. VA panels aren't as color accurate but are a bit more vibrant and have better black levels. TN panels have the fastest response times and are usually the cheapest, but have terrible viewing angles and color accuracy. I've personally used a pretty good TN panel for a while, but recently moved to a good IPS, and the difference was night and day. It's to the point where my first thought when looking at a TN panel isn't "that's a TN panel," but "what broke on that monitor?" I'd personally try to go for a VA or IPS panel, just because of how bad TN panels really do look.

Response times don't really matter that much outside of Esports level monitors, and honestly anything lower than 5-8ms is fine. I'd stay away from much higher stuff since high response times just make everything look like a smeary mess. Also, just to emphasize, response times =/= input latency. Response time is how long the monitor takes to change from one color to another. Input latency is how long a monitor takes to display a rendered frame. You want them both to be as low as possible, but which one is more important depends on the situation.

As for brands to stick to and to avoid, there really aren't any. All monitor makers have made some bad panels, but most of them have made some pretty freaking nice panels as well. Read reviews of the specific panel you're looking at, and make sure to take it into account with the prices around you. Prices do fluctuate a lot in this industry, even from region to region, so a review might say "don't bother with this, just get that" because they're very similar but one of them was a lot cheaper, so if prices shifted it would make sense to get the other one.

    I'd absolutely advise getting a 1440p-144hz monitor.

There are very reasonable prices these days, especially with the January sales and what not.

Buying a 1080p monitor, especially at 60hz, just holds you back and is, in my opinion, a sub par experience.

You will probably upgrade eventually, so why not do it now while you are in a position to buy something new?

    ALT + 95
You can use that for underscore.
    Regular dash is 45

(just hold ALT then use num-pad to type 9 then 5 only then release ALT and you got your underscore.)

Problem we have there is that decision like that would need to be made of someone who is of "sound mind" and the people you're referring to might not have that. Take someone who is depressed; nature of depression means you're not thinking clearly. I don't think we should give that kind of decisional power to someone who "isn't in their right mind". Having experienced first hand the aftermath of someone taking that route it's given me a new insight into this area

I do believe in euthanisa but with the cavate that is has to be approved by an external party of 'sound mind'

Tomsta reacted to leadeater in Can someone laymens term a Raid 50
RAID 5 offers a single disk of redundancy, which you already know. So RAID 50 is multiple RAID 5 arrays which are then added in to a RAID 0 array where these RAID 5 arrays are the member devices of that array. This is known as nested RAID.

So if you have 8 disks you take 4 of them and put them in a RAID 5 array, then you put the other 4 remaining disks in to a RAID 5 array. Now you have two independent RAID 5 arrays. Next you create a RAID 0 array and place both RAID 5 arrays in to this array, you now have a RAID 50 array.

A RAID 50 array can be destroyed with as few disks as 2 failing, 2 disks from the same RAID 5 array in the RAID 50 array. Since the upper layer is RAID 0 this offers no redundancy so it requires that only a single sub array is lost/offline for the entire RAID 50 to be destroyed.

Thanks, i can go the regular 212 Cooler master and save another £10. As i'm not really concerned about RGB as i have no glass side panels and my tower will be in a hole on my desk rather than atop my desk
