  1. Thanks for the replies guys! There were a couple programs open so maybe this was causing the issues. Are crashed cores/threads something to worry about?
  2. Hey guys, I have been running a prime95 test for about 10 minutes, but noticed that it started off at 100% CPU usage, but has dropped down to around 85-90%. It seems as if 2 of the cores are not being run at 100%. What would be the reason behind this? Here is a screenshot to show you CAM stats, and you can see in the CPU section what I mean Thanks!
  3. Gigabyte AX370 gaming 5 Ryzen 1700 GTX 960 Vengeance RGB 3000Mhz 16gb
  4. Hey guys, I have just built a new system and everything is working fine. All the memory is being used but it appears as if my system doesn't recognise what type it is or that it is RGB etc. I have downloaded the corsair link app and it just has generic RAM, not the type. So i can't control it. The RGB lights turn on but they just cycle and aren't synced to eachother. Do i need drivers for it or something? What would be happening?
  5. Another quick question, With the ASUS ROG X370-F, on their site they have a RAM compatibility list but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of options. For example, the Corsair Vengeance RGB isn't listed. Does that mean it is a bad idea to go ahead with this choice of memory?
  6. Im not sure what BCLK Gen is so I am assuming I won't need it
  7. Yeah I did, but I will try it again. I will run some stress tests tomorrow to hone in on the problem. Would a BIOS update be causing the problem? I have never done one so maybe the card is a bit too new for the old motherboard?
  8. Awesome, thanks for the replies! I might be overclocking a couple hundred MHz on that 1700 so wont be pushing it too hard because of the stock cooler. I guess in terms of future performance, i'd be better with an X370 so that when i upgrade the CPU cooling, I am able to overclock it a bit harder.. As for the X370 boards, the difference in price between the Asus Prime X370 pro and Asus ROG X370-F isn't THAT much but apparently the X370-F is compatible with the 3200 RAM? Other than that it seems like maybe the VRM heatsinks are a bit better and you get some sick RGB. Am I reading this wrong?
  9. Hey guys, I will do my best to explain the situation that I am in at the moment. I built a computer around 2010 and will list the specs below. I have recently received a graphics card from a friend that I replaced my old one with and it is only after that point that I started experiencing problems. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 930 Mobo: Gigabyte EX58-UD5 GPU: NVIDIA GTX960 RAM: G-skill DDR3 12GB (6x2gb, thats six units).. The part number that I have from CPU-ID is F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ PSU: Antec True Power 650 (i don't think 80+) I have also put in a custom water cooling loop because I was trying to get some extra life out of my CPU and was trying to push its limits and overclocked it to 4Ghz. I have since taken it back to its stock settings due to stability issues. I replaced an AMD HD5870 with the current GTX960 and I think as I was doing so i kinked one of my water pipes and didn't realize. I'm unsure how long it was like that but I have corrected it and my CPU appears to be running alright. I do think I may have fried it a little though... So the situation that I am in at the moment is this. When doing normal tasks like browsing the web, the computer runs smoothly. There is no lag when opening programs or doing any tasks. When I run games (in particular WoW), the frame rates sit at a comfortable level for the majority of the time but there are certain times when the frames don't drop, but the feed gets juttery. I believe this is due to increased CPU load and maybe it can't handle it anymore. In saying this, there are a lot of times where my display driver stops responding and restarts itself. It is usually during these times that if the juttering gets a bit too much, my computer either freezes, or it blue screens. Unfortunately I don't have the error code to report. Do you think that this would be due to a compatibility issue between my old components and the graphics card I have recently installed or could it be due to my CPU going through a period of time without any cooling (non overclocked). How would I test for this? I have tried replacing all of my display drivers and sound drivers. Thanks guys!
  10. Hey guys, I am looking at upgrading my current build and have a few questions about parts, longevity, and compatibility etc. I was looking at a 1700 because it comes with a cooler as I am not planning to upgrade cooling until a later date. In terms of the motherboard choice, I was looking at an ASUS x370 prime motherboard but the B350-F STRIX is about $100 cheaper (Aus) and seemingly comes with the same features that I will use. Without spending a lot more money, is there much of a difference between the X370 and B350 boards if i'm not using SLI? I was also planning on buying the Corsair 16GB 3200 RAM. I feel like this might be a bit of overkill and could save some money there. If anyone could shed some light on how essential RAM speed is I'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys!
