Defyant got a reaction from Jason 57 in HyperCase
HYPERCASE DM-01
This build is pretty well under way, So i will post a few current work log pics and then play catch up Don't worry there's still a ton of modding left.
First off a big thanks to Mwave for jumping on board and supporting this build with some much needed hardware.
A quick back story.
I wanted a specific case and when it became obvious that the extreme cost and getting it sent from OS was proving to be a big fail i decided to just make what i wanted myself.
Hypercase will be scratch made from Plex. No CNC or LASER work or fancy CAD programs or drawings..... just whats in my head and my hands. I'm sure some of you can relate to that last part
NO water cooling i'm having alot more fun nowadays with air coolers "it's still cool to air cool" !
Currently the mod is at the final stages
So how did we get here ?
It started with 4 basic parts..
A base section
Just a single cut and bent piece of plex
A matching top section.
This was made from 3 parts , 2 x bent sides and a single flat top. Then reinforce with inner braces
Next was to make the spine. This was made from much thicker plex and will be triple layered later to add more strength and design.
The 4th part was the motherboard tray. This will be a suspended type and will be adjustable

Defyant got a reaction from Prorokk in HyperCase
After laying down some colour and some clear then letting it dry over night. The psu cover gets a quick light sand. This is to get the clear as flat as poss for a quick buff.
Normally i'd let this sit for a week to let the clear go rock hard. But i wanted to see what sort of mirror finish i could get now.
Looking promising,
If i can get the whole case to look this good i'll be a happy camper.
Happy with that i can get the last 3 sections under colour.
A bit more prep work for the front panel and then some colour and clear cloat.
Thought i'd take a sneaky peek @ how the black side vents would contrast!
Then move onto some big stuff ! remember these ?
That's pretty much all the players on the park now... I still need to wet sand and clear coat the top and back panels... prolly thru the week.
Then i can finally start thinking about adding some hardware.

We're on the home stretch now ! ..... well until i change my mind again
Yesterday was all the boring stuff..... more sanding and spot putty work... but today was a bit more fun as i finally get to throw down some colour
First the boring! Kinda like running around putting out all the little spot fires.
Some final prep work to the PSU cover, Filling in all the plex joins and fixing a few small dimples.
It's a lotta extra work, but the end result will be worth it.
Not sure if any one noticed this before but i changed the front. Decided to carry the lines thru to the bottom of the panel for a cleaner sharper look.
This added a couple of extra days work... but i think it's worth the time.
Then finish off the bracket for the Galaxy II Stats screen It's a simple spring type clip mod, that just holds the phone snug in place.
A hell of a lot more wet rubbing and more spot fires and all the parts under base coat (silver)
A day later....just when you thought all the wet rubbing was over ..... It's more wet rubbing again....
Why sand every coat? To get the paint as flat as poss.... that is what gives the mirror finish @ the very end.
Fun Time First a few coats of the gun metal and then on goes the 2K clear coat.
Lets do a few more
Just for giggles! what could have been!!!!!

Defyant reacted to Fraya in HyperCase
wow this is what we are talking about, proper custom engineering and fabrication.
so many build logs are about people just buying expensive components and just assembling the build, they usually get all the attention and glory, but it should be projects and builds like this one that should have all the brownie points.
i made a few custom build cases, and people don't seem interested in a project unless it has the most expensive hardware,,
this is a skill to be able to work with plastic like you have.
looking forward to more of this build.

It'd be nice for the price they charge if these clowns could put those stickers on centred...... ive got 10 of these now and @ least 2 have wobbly stickers.

Defyant reacted to Streetguru in Cooler Master H500M extra fans?
There's already plenty of positive pressure going to be happening in that case. Probably don't even need the 140mm exhaust fan since your CPU fan is already pointed to the back.

Defyant got a reaction from ldwilliams in Cooler Master H500M extra fans?
I have the older 500 without out the mesh. Using the 2700x /5700xt combo i have nps with heat at all just using the 2 front and single 140mm exhaust.
I have 3 top installed just to fill the case and have never needed to use them.
I'm using the R-1 cooler with triple fans + the 140 exhaust.

Defyant got a reaction from Charkel in Should I replace my Hyper 212?
I'd be keen to see the figures if you own them both,
I could do a comparison between a 7yr + 212 and a current 212 would be keen to see your comparison between the sports and 212 to see what "much better" looks like.
Cheers.

Defyant got a reaction from Cyberspirit in Defyant's Light Blade Scratch Build RGB case.
Defyant's Light Blade
I wanted some thing nicer than stock cases for my modding workshop and some thing that would really show off custom RGB lighting.
The inspiration for the style of this mod came from InsolentGnomes amazing Deep blue (formerly G-Frame) if you havn't seen his mod take the time to check it out
As you can tell by the title, This will be a scratch built from Acrylic custom air cooled case , built around my existing hardware with the addition of some new Corsair 140mm LL's for flow and 120 LL's on CPU cooling duties with Corsairs RGB light strips doing most of the RGB work on the front and sides. With iCue running all the disco.
Parts List as this is a Workshop PC are modest.
Asus Strix 270i
16G DDR4 2800
2 x M.2 120/240
GPU TBA
Intel 6700
SFX700W Silverstone PSU
HSF Custom Hyper 212
Cable Mod Pro Carbon Cables
Corsair Lighting Node Pro and Hub
2 x Corsair LL-140 Fans
2 x Corsair LL-120 Fans
4 x Corsair RGB Addressable strips
As you can see from the first pic, The PC's that bookend my monitors are boring as hell, Even tho they are fully modded Fractal Nano S cases. The new Light Blade PC will completely change this.
*************** Latest Update Pics **********
The mod starts with an inner housing cut from diffused plex. This was chosen for it's ability to show diffused RGB and match the Blades of the Corsair LL Fans.
All the cuts were done using a router to the 4 sections then glued using Weldon.
As you can see by the holes this case will get plenty of air.
A panel is made for the fans to attach too rather than drill holes thru the front of the case. This panel will be later Box'd to become a housing for the fans.
This will be 1 of 2 cases that will be build, The other a water cooled case so it is designed to fit a 280mm AIO up top.
MTC.

Defyant reacted to Toffe in Project Silence
But ! no USB C ...
and yes, the better airflow, the more cooling, the lower your fans can go.
that is why this codex Xe case sucks ..

Defyant reacted to LogicalDrm in Noctua D14/15 Tripple fans
If you plan to use 3rd fan, have some padding between it and fins. Otherwise fan is too close and won't have positive effect. On U14S (probably U12S too), Noctua provides wider pads for dual fan setup. You use thin ones intake side and thich ones exhaust side.

Defyant reacted to jtomasrl in Air cooling in an Ncase M1
yeah I know i’ve seen both builds, but they don’t use an arctic accelero on their gpu’s and that changes airflow a lot, because of the exhaust configuration of the bottom fans
