  1. Hi All, Sorry to spam but FYI it's looking like a global issue: https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/1081092/Windows-10-users-report-DNS-problem-with-Microsoft-software/amp#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s Cheers Danny
  2. Im having this same issue on my new desktop & have also reinstalled the OS. If I use my cloud PC it downloads apps or windows updates with no issue but on my fresh build of windows I cant download anything from the store or use windows updates EDIT: If i use my shadow cloud (tested above) I can download apps/games using this MSFT account however if I use my surface pro I have the same issues again, on the same local network or hotspotting from my phone. So it cant be a device issue as its effecting more than one & its not the network as i've tested an open hotspot. One thing to note is that the shadow is hosted in another country, perhaps its a local MSFT server that's currently having issues?
  3. Just in case anyone was wondering it was the MOBO which died, resolved by replacing with an AMD setup
  4. Good Evening all! Just looking for a bit of help as i'm really stumped on this one. My desktop PC has been working fine until today after I installed a GPU, The drivers installed successfully I rebooted the system & all was working normally even under gaming workloads. After closing a game down I thought id try the sapphire traxx overclocking software, after installing the software you are given two buttons for factory OC settings at the bottom I think they are POWER & SILENT. Immediately after selecting power (with no GPU intensive apps open) my PC decided to BSOD & power off. When trying to boot on the standard BIOS all then fans etc power up normally but the keyboard does not light up, there is a clicking from the internal speaker around every 3 seconds & no signal is detected from the igpu or discrete card. At this point I removed the GPU & all SATA connectors I then tried booting to the backup BIOS which worked, but asked for a password (I have not set any passwords) so I cleared the CMOS with jumpers & a screwdriver on the main bios between pins 5 & 6 to boot to the backup BIOS. It does now boot and show the gigabyte screen (so the password clear was successful) but then just powers off. I'm pretty sure this has somehow fried the mobo but was just hoping i've missed something obvious Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Danny Specs of PC in question: Mobo: GA-B85m-d3h CPU: i5 4590 (not overclockable) RAM: 4x4GB DDR3 sticks GPU (not currently connected:) RX580 4GB Sapphire nitro + PSU: Corsair CX 550m Edit: Ive accepted this will most likely need me to replace the mobo or PSU but was wondering if anyone knew a way of testing the component at fault? Unfortunately I don't have anther rig or spare parts
  5. Im on an employee scheme called privilege so we have to wait until a set time to change cars over, usually every 9 months.
  6. 32 is actually way better than I was expecting Only 2 and a half months to wait until delivery!
  7. Hey guys, Any strong opinions either way on a 2017 Focus ST (petrol not diesel.) I work for Ford so get a decent discount on these (Hence not getting a GTI,) but was just wondering if there was anything a long term owner felt should be mentioned? Im thinking of getting an ST-3 in the flat grey colour with the black pack & no montune mods (insurance = awfull) :-( Cheers Dan
  8. As per the first post im just saying 'Hi'
  9. Well it was worth a shot... back to the ESXi plan! - Thanks for confirming guys.
  10. Hey Guys! - Potential change of plan from my origional ESXi build. I bought a dual Xeon X5650 Dell poweredge T410 tower server with 32 GB of 1333mhz RAM. Loads of power to play with! However after a bit of a look on youtube you can overclock these chips to run at 4Ghz stable, this makes them potentially pretty damn decent for gaming! Howerver... my Motherboard will only supply up to 25 watts to the (terribly placed in the T410) PCI-E slot. Would it be worth getting a large gaming case (will my board just fit in a standard case? t410 has virtually no opportunities to improve on cooling) and an aftermarket PSU for a GTX 1070? Kind Regards, Danny

  12. Yeah, I saw that on the front page in the last few days.... Gross!
  13. Good Afternoon LTT, I'm currently looking at building an ESXI host with a vmware hypervisor for a home fileserver / some testing VM's. I don't need a hugely powerful machine as this will be purely for playing around with so i'm thinking minimum 16 GB RAM & 8 or more threads with 500GB of storage . I need to somehow keep the power consumption low which is very difficult with server hardware which is making me consider standard desktop components, the device will be kept in my bedroom so a 1U rack server might wear thin quickly. I have looked at just buying old server hardware from ebay e.g: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-T3600-Precision-Workstation-Octa-Core-E5-2660-Ram-16GB-HDD-1TB-NVS300-W10-/263091299204?hash=item3d4176a384:g:T8AAAOSweIlZanJy Would you recommend going for used hardware or working on a fresh build myself (looked at using a RYZEN 5 just for the fun but I know this would be a waste.) Cheers in advance!
