  1. I wonder what the performance difference between an i5 and an i7 will be. Maybe 8 threaded performance might finally be worth it for gamers?
  2. Alright, so, I just found another cheap GTX 580 matrix, and decided it'd be cheaper to buy a second MATRIX than it would be to buy a 780, but now I'm wondering. I only want to run games that NEED SLI performance in SLI (I'll turn it on and off as the situation requires). But if I want to run games with SLI off, I only went the games to render on my second GPU because it isn't choking on the cooler of the other GPU. It looks a little bit like this. Does anyone know how to force it via Nvidia control panel or something of the sort?
  3. 60 FPS please. Please. SERIOUSLY. The difference between 30 and 60 is night and day ._.
  4. Realistically, a lot of countries don't allow women in their armies, and even if they do, not special forces or anything of the sort. A few of my female friends that also game pretty hardcore have told me that it doesn't really make them less enthused about the game, but they do have issues with the fact that the industry is rather woman-shunning, and that it's absurdly difficult to get a female protag in some games. For instance, I have heard that the dev of "Remember Me" had to BEG the publisher to make a female character the protag. What the fuck, why is that so risky? o_o
  5. I don't buy TN panel monitors full stop. I want vivid colours and great angles.
  6. The Dell U2312HM. A great IPS panel with pivot and a USB hub integrated. DP, DVI and VGA. It has some pretty sweet colours.
  7. Once, my computer didn't give a video signal. OR SO I THOUGHT. After troubleshooting errything, taking out the mobo, re-applying thermal paste, nudging the cpu a bit, taking apart my entire PC - I realised my monitor was set to HDMI instead of DVI.
  8. Okay so since there was like absolutely nobody here, I'm going to do something else, how does this sound: 3 days long, I'm putting up a quiz, and in those three days, people can answer the quiz. The people that have the answer right the most, get ranked higher in the RNG. (which I'll use to calculate the winner). So no first come first serve nonsense. I'll scrounge up some gamecodes for steam and origin to give away. I'll be posting this in the "general" area tomorrow. See you guys there!
  9. Well apparently since nobody wants magicka apart from the guy that wants magicka, it'll go to the guy that wants magicka. Add me on steam, icemaster_1, screenname is Fidel Castro (don't ask) and post your steam username here too. (the game is a steam gift, yasee)
  10. Hey guys, as you might know I'm a mod here - it says under my name. I haven't been on much and I'm really sorry. Things have been pretty bad for me lately and I've also been really really badly ill, family business, yada yada yada, not very professional, I know, so let me try and get on you guys' good side again. So here, I'll check this thread tomorrow, and I'll randomly select (with an RNG, not because I know one of you guys) give you a copy of magicka. And if like a ton of people join in I might just get some origin/steam codes of some other games and give those away randomly in this topic too. There, you can now claim to have limited power over my disposable income.
  11. http://www.l3p.nl/files/Hardware/Deskmod/Progress/Total%20%5B2560px%5D.jpg Only slightly.
  12. Air cooling is by far sufficient. Watercooling is a more enthusiast grade type of cooling, but if you want to overclock a 3570K, you're going to need a new cooler for the CPU, as you might be aware. The stock cooler is... kind of pathetic. And radiators/hoses don't tend to leak unless you manhandle them extremely. Custom liquid cooling takes a lot of time, money and effort to set up. You could go for pre-done watercoolers like the H100i, or just go for a good double tower double fan aircooling heatsink. It all depends on what you've got space for, but on air, you should easily be able to reach 4.5 ghz without a lot of noise.
  13. A photo would look incredibly out of place in a video.
  14. Alright, imagine the following situation. I just got a brand new awesome soundcard, and it doesn't have stereo mix like my onboard one does. But I reaaally need stereo mix for use with my live gamer HD. I've tried using virtual audio cable and virtual audio streaming (latest versions) and both do not have the functionality to create a recording device that basically combines all of the output audio streams on one piece of hardware. Does anybody know any software that does? Simply put, I want to use my speakers/headphones, clone that audio to a virtual recording device (virtual stereo mix) and in windows, select "listen to this device via: [output that I need]" so I can duplicate the audio stream to another output. Or if someone knows how to stream audio through two outputs, that would be amazing.
  15. Haha, it's fine man! You sure you plugged the phoebus into the headphone in slot, almost all the way to the right of the card, right? Net to the smaller hole for the breakout box? Just making sure.
  16. I was having some weird issues with the software when I first started using my soundcard, they were related to settings from the xonar phoebus control panel suddenly being switched on (like "true surround" or some nonsense) and the dolby home theater equalizer settings. Have you played around with the output values like sample rate? Have you confirmed the soundcard working on another output source like the speaker outputs?
  17. Well, the G15 gen1 is known to be pretty much the best membrane keyboard in the history of mankind. But this G710+ is just amazing. I love typing and gaming on this. I would've probably preferred blues tbh, but hey, not much one can do. I just know that I don't really like reds because of the lack of tactile feedback.
  18. I've been told optical mice are supposed to be more accurate than laser ones, and how PS/2 keyboards are superior, and I do believe that that might indeed be true, I have not honestly felt a single difference in the history of ever in actual, practical, real world usage. It might be very slightly less accurate, but I haven't been able to feel the difference, and my game hasn't improved in the month that I used a gaming optical mouse as opposed to my laser mice. The only difference I noticed is my lack of nice macro software. And yes, of course build quality is objective. But we were talking about what "the best mouse" is. ALL mice that could POSSIBLY qualify for that are obviously good mice and have good build quality and other traits like those as a result, so I kind of assumed that went without saying ,because build quality applies to everything ever made in the history of ever. I do admit that the RAT7 that I have suffers from some very serious cases of jitter while my G700 so far has been rock solid.
  19. If you want cherry MX brown switches, you might want to check out the logitech G710+. Beautiful keyboard, great macro software (best in the world actually) And for the mouse I would suggest a G700 or a G600. I have a RAT7 and I'm kind of dissapointed with it in comparison to my logitech mice. Actually, a big reason why I keep getting logitech mice is because of the amazing software. I am not planning on ever getting another brand of mice. Not because I'm a fanboy, but if I would have to do without logitech gaming software, my keyboard might as well not have any macros at all. Or mouse.
  20. there is no "best" mouse, of course. It comes down to personal preference. I've got a G700 and a G600 that I both love, and a RAT7 that I'm less fond of. If you want a palm mouse, I could highly reccomend the G700, btw. It can be wired and wireless, and it's not overpriced like the razer mamba. Or other razer stuff.
  21. I have a seagate barracuda myself and I would reccomend it to anyone. They're cheaper AND faster than the competitors. At least where I live. So it's kind of a no-brainer.
  22. Windspeed, I would like to point out that IPS panels nowadays do not have ghosting or slow response times. That is the past. I have a dell monitor with an IPS panel that has an 8ms delay and i have not noticed any ghosting whatsoever, and it's right next to a 2ms TN panel. The Philips 227E3QPHSU is a cheap 22 inch IPS monitor, if you can find it there. Honestly, if you want a proper IPS panel, be ready to shell out at least 150 euros if you can't find the cheaper LG ones.
