  1. For work, I need to be able to clone a HDD, to a USB drive, and back to a secondary HDD. I have managed to try doing this via Acronis True Image, however every single time I load the image I get an error shown below. I also have tried copying the original working .efi file over to the cloned disk, that didn't help. Does anyone know how to fix this so that every time I image from the USB drive, this doesn't happen?
  2. I've been thinking about the G610, just hopeing that prices drop quick enough for that to be a viable option. That and I wanted to see if the community had any other suggestions.
  3. The one with no bezel to speak of. I agree with the statement that an old keyboard is like a favorite jumper. In a perfect world, I would buy the guy a Model M, but I cant afford one of those and if I got him one, he would make fun of me for wasting my money. As it was getting him to agree that he needed a new keyboard was a struggle. I looked at that keyboard, the issues I had with it were that people were complaining that the keycaps were rubbing off.
  4. So, my father's birthday is in a couple weeks and the current keyboard he is using is the standard Dell OEM keyboard that they shipped with new computers between 5 and 10 years ago. It still works, but it is absolutely disgusting and the keycaps are fadeing so I want to buy him a new keyboard for his birthday. Issues: He is a engineer so he is typing on his keyboard constantly. Doesn't want anything RGB. I have a budget of 60 silence is key I need the community to recommend something with Red switches, durable keycaps, and no RGB. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  5. Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter.
  6. So I just bought the creative soundblasterx keyboard off of massdrop, and boy is it bright. The only issue I currently have with it is the keycaps. They are horrendous. The tops are very slippery, bad enough to almost drive me back to using my redragon k557. Does anyone know of any Omron compatible keycaps out there that I can install on this keyboard to make it perfect? Criteria is that I need something that my fingers will not slip off of while typing, and it needs to be able to let the RGB LED function sign through the keycaps (double shot injection maybe). I should add that I am a touch typist so that is the main reason that a tactile keycap that my fingers can rest in one place on is important to me.
  7. Ah. I understand a bit more now, so it is also an issue in most client based implementations of WPA2. Good to know.
  8. for folks who want a bit more information, check out the cisco meraki blog linked below. Basically, the vulnerability really affects networks with 802.11r functionality enabled. https://meraki.cisco.com/blog/2017/10/critical-802-11r-vulnerability-disclosed-for-wireless-networks/
  9. I agree entirely with this. My grandfather had his house hit directly with lightning. Wiped out his computer, washer and dryer. What ever you get, if you want MAXIMUM Surge protection, and to make sure your devices are insured for acts of god. that is pretty much the only thing that will save you. Now as far as ups's go, my personal recommendation is APC, however, this is only because i haven't used any of the other brands and am only willing to speak to what I know. That being said, anything from Cyberpower, Tripplite, or APC should come with some sort of a guarantee/warranty, and all three of them are reputable brands in the industry.
  10. so from the sounds of it, the issue is not in your laptop. The issue is in either your router or your cable modem. Next step would be to call your ISP and see if they can see your modem. If they cant, It might be busted. If they can, then your router might have a problem.
  11. My apologies, I didn't realize that Cisco left this basic functionality out of the ios image used on this switch and as a result I was working on some very basic assumptions from the knowledge i have of Cisco devices. From what i have read though, you might want to try typing /exec at the end of your switch address. According to a link i found, this should be able to give you some form of basic CLI access. http://www.learnios.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11340 That above is the link i found for reference. i also found the user manual here https://media.cablesandkits.com/p/User_Guide_for_Catalyst_Express_500_Switches.pdf and it looks like as long as your using the cryptographic image, you already have ssl enabled by default (see 2-14 in the manual)
  12. Look at somthing like a cisco catalyst 2960s it would fit your needs (except for POE) I have two of these in my setup at home and a couple of them on my desk at work.
  13. I use my hyper 212 with mine, you will just need to buy an adapter bracket from coolermaster, but it is supported.
  14. I will say that my only regret with my ryzen 1500x is that i didnt buy a 1600x. That being said, I have had no issues stability wise with my 1500x. Granted, I don't overclock (for a variety of reasons that we don't need to go into.) it runs at decent temps being air-cooled by my hyper plus 212 and was a decent upgrade from my FX series processor.
  15. other options include having the windows troubleshooter reset your network adapter, contacting your ISP for their specific ISP servers, checking your router to make sure it is using the correct DNS servers, ect ect. There are so many options that it could be. What I would do would be try connecting to other networks (like a public library or local coffee shop) and seeing what happens. Does it connect? Does it throw the same errors? This one basic test will help narrow exactly where the problem is because if you can connect to the internet on another network using this laptop, then you know it is something in your network configuration of your networking gear. Otherwise, it might indicate that the problem is indeed in the laptop.
