  1. You can do whatever you want when you build a pc. You don't have to directly follow a guide or build log as long as x is compatible with y then do whatever you want it's your pc. I would recommend a single 1080ti though as sli isn't really the best thing to go head deep with.
  2. 1440p is the real sweet spot as it's doable with current hardware, looks better than 1080p, and you shouldn't have to lower settings much at all to keep good framerates until you've gotten more than your money out of the card. 1070ti non reference with overclocking will probably be a good deal but if you don't know much about overclocking just grab a 1080. 4k isn't really a smart pick in the long term as the 1080 can run it but not to the point were it won't require serious drops in settings to keep games at decent frame rates so you'll more than likely be forced to upgrade your gpu much sooner opposed to if you went 1440p
  3. @Project_PC Most sub ambiant builds involve modifying an everyday household ac window unit personally never done it thought about it but seems like a giant pain in the butt. Linus actually did one at some point with an old opteron dual core (wound up killing the cpu). @Project_PChttp://www.overclock.net/t/1511297/window-ac-air-conditioner-to-water-chiller-conversion-log This one didn't wind up working out idr but it shows the basic pain in the butt steps you have to go through for it hince the reason you rarely see sub ambient pcs
  4. Two separate loops is 99% never the answer it's more expensive and doesn't really benefit performance unless under very specific situations such as seperating 3-4 oced gpus from a oced cpu to keep coolant temps at ideal levels. Otherwise the only reason you ever see dual loops is for looks.
  5. I have a Vega 64 overclocked to 1745 core 1105 on memory which out performs a 1080 by a decent amount. I can say it's fine on modern titles at 3440x1440 but you can feel that their isn't to long before settings will have to be dropped a good bit to keep my freesync 60-75 target. So I'd say 1080ti is the only card atm with headroom at 3440x1440 other cards will do it but, if you want to stay maxed for at least 2+ years 1080ti is the only current option unless you want to run sli or crossfire now or when that time comes.
  6. Just buy multiple 600w used psus on ebay or a couple 1000w golds single psus that can power that are a pretty large jump in price compared to just using multiple cheaper ones
  7. Oh they'll be a million times better and you'll hardly be able to hear them
  8. I mean I'll be honest I own 7 noctua fans in my pc 4 of which are the industrial variants and you never want to use those higher ones really since no matter how nice the fan when they hit 2000 rpm or higher they all sound like a blowdryer. Just go with the 2k no point in making your pc sound like it's about to start floating.
  9. Oh and as far as motherboard I'd say Asus is still a beast but costs a pretty penny while Gigabytes a better bang for your buck so nothings really changed their all depends on preference and needs
  10. Wait out for intel coffee lake supplies to become more available then grab the i5-8600k and a 1070 or vega 56 (if prices are low by then) or even the 1070ti if that becomes a thing
  11. It would be overkill plus I think 120mm might fit better. Unless you plan on overclocking the snot out of it their wouldn't be to much of a point. If temps are high maybe try new thermal paste first as it's an older card might need some new paste.
  12. https://seasonic.com/psu-calculator/ This is a handy calculator for psus
  13. Unless you plan on adding a second card or overclocking the snot out of cpu and gpu 650 is more than enough
  14. I mean if its really required I wouldn't try desoldering there's a video of a guy doing it on a 1080 though
  15. So I know it's not a gaming card and I don't plan on getting one as I can't properly utilize one but, I just want to know how the gaming performance has changed post Rx Vega release as I can't find any real information on it post initial release. T
  16. Just do the max amount of fan noise you're willing to deal with and make the curve steady going up to that.
  17. just grab a 1030 or 550 if you need it new or whatever the cheapest thing you can find on craigslist
  18. Well I think I'll get a second Vega 64 next month and share my results to everyone if their aren't any videos online by then
  19. Yeah all I've seen is those charts and in order for it to hit 1700 max voltage is sadly required I mean I'm sure I could find a 1200-1300w psu for a fair price just would make my life a little more annoying. God it's funny this is the first time I've taken wattage in to consideration in so many years Like dual psu days
  20. Yeah I know trust me but I mean if you bother to unlock the voltage on a gtx 1080 like I had prior it pulls around the same amount of power but Vega beats it (my gtx 1080 capped out at around 2138 on core with modded bios) In all honesty if utilities was included in my rent I'd probably not be so forgiving to Vegas power draw.
  21. But in all honesty once you put a waterblock on Vega it doesn't go above 50 at full load so most of the heat comes from the cpu but that's taming the above 4.0ghz beast on Ryzen.
  22. Oh you have no idea how awful this summer/fall has been it got so bad from mining when not gaming that I was considering mounting my radiators out the window... The only thing that has changed my mind is the weather where I live is finally cooling down
  23. Haha yeah I need to look at how much power I'll need currently I have 1000w but Idk if that'll be enough between 2 vegas and an 1800x at 4.1ghz (1.45v though :/)
  24. So I currently have a single Vega 64 in a custom loop (and before people talk shit about vega etc. yes I know it's far from perfect but I have an expensive freesync monitor that I intend to use) what I want to know is how well it's actually scaling right now and how good or bad the drivers seem. I've been thinking about adding another card because I'll be honest I have some money burning in my pocket and am hoping to get as lucky on the silicon lottery as this one (1720 core and 1105 on memory).
