  1. Overclocking the 4790k people talk so much crap about skylake temps haswell literally required a delid to get any overclock out of it
  2. If you want ones that are for visible parts then you want 24pin motherboard 8 pin cpu then atleast 2 8 pin pcie and one sata if ssd or hdd is visible.
  3. The 9590 is just an overpriced binned 8350 that's pre overclocked out of the box. Like cj said the thing destroys mothertboards and the performance jump from an 8320 to a 9590 is pretty small and not worth the money. Just save up for ryzen or coffee lake as we all know it sucks having to buy a new motherboard and processor but, that's just how it is and what you'll have to do.
  4. @Bworde15 It wouldn't be too hard when I had my 1080s I got them for 400 a piece that was right when the 1080ti came out so I know that isn't fair. However, you can buy a gigabyte 1080 windforce (3 fan) for 490 free shipping on Ebay. Usually buying locally you can easilly get 50-100 off what the going rate on Ebay is.
  5. Too bad people don't realize you can't just pull a gpu out of thin air it takes quite a lot of time before an architecture comes to life. By the time team blue comes out with something it'll be at least 2020 Still will be interesting to see some new competition their haven't been 3 gpu manufacturers since 3DFX
  6. To be honest a used 1080 is a better bet than a 1070ti as you usually can get an aftermarket card for the same price.
  7. To be honest with the prices of 1060s atm unless you can find one close to msrp you might as well wait or look towards the used market all the budget and mid range cards are so overpriced atm due to mining it's sad.
  8. So you've got a double edged sword with this one The 1080 is the better choice and you'll notice the increase in performance more but, it's been awhile since Nvidas released a new gpu and they might be fairly soon. The cpu would be a noticable upgrade from a 6300 for sure then again though the only boards out for it are the top of the line expensive ones so you'd be overpaying on sata and usb ports for the most part. Not to mention finding an 8700k for the right price. If I was you I'd save up wait for Nvidas next conference I can't remember what it is though I know its fairly soon if they don't show off a Tesla then grab the 1080 if they do then grab the cpu.
  9. Just replace the board once in awhile everyone gets "haunted hardware" it sucks pretty badly when it happens but, it's usually pretty rare. For example, I've had it happen with gpus were I had two gtx 660s and one wouldn't boot the system no matter what I did unless it had the second card in as well but ran perfectly fine in sli for 2 years. I also once had a motherboard that had the latest bios (was an Asus original lga 2011) and about once every month it would send my pc in to a boot loop corrupt the bios and require a cmos reset then run perfectly fine after that.
  10. If temps are rather high and above h100 recommended heat levels it's not the best idea as you'll shorten the life of the aio from evaporating water. However, so long as your cpu isn't the surface of the sun should be good
  11. @LinusTech Thanks for always providing great and entertaining content can't wait to see it!
  12. @Wailmer It would certainly be interesting someone should buy a bunch of decent sd cards on amazon test it out and return them
  13. Okay so a high performance non stupidly expensive sd card (about 0.50$ per gb) caps out at around 85 mb/s so you could hit 850 mb/s at best but that would be pretty damn expensive
  14. Oh wait they can go faster lemme check again thought 10mb/s seemed really low but gotta love google
  15. I think most higher quality sd cards cap out at around 10mb/s and it supports raid 0 so 10 drives at 10mb/s could hit 100mb/s but who knows
  16. If you have decent local Ecycle place/places nearby check them out sometimes you can get a good enterprise ups for cheap depending on luck and area.
  17. @Luke It mostly has to do with delidding becoming so popular due to all the YouTube popularity and videos that came out around the release of the 7700k
  18. @Luke Ah sorry one of those little sleep days yeah no the 6700k and 7700k are pretty much the exact same except for stock clock speeds so thermals are a problem on both
  19. @UnAppledDragon It's good I mean it's a solid mid tier motherboard as far as memory compatibility it seems like a mixed bag no matter what with Ryzen still on gigabytes bios. I have heard Asus has pretty good memory compat in bioses but you have to pay a pretty large premium so it's a toss up
  20. All modern intel cpus are TIM AMD is the only company with soldered atm
  21. @UnAppledDragon Looks good ssd depends on budget
  22. Over the years @LinusTech has always hinted at his old subzero opteron pc he built years ago but nothings ever become of it. Personally, I've always been interested in the modified ac unit chiller boxes they seem like the only plausible way to cool a pc subambiant. However, their just isn't a whole lot of information on the subject that isn't severely outdated and would love to see Linus go at it and try not to fry some electronics with condensation.
