    My favorites:
"Intel 6600 CPU" - From back in the day, 2010-2015 or so, back when the Q6600 was still in high demand and people would just put "6600 CPU" in their ad. It was actually the shitty dual-core E6600, not the supremely-overclockable legend-tier Q6600 quad. Literally any MacBook ad for a reseller or dealer ever that says "MACBOOK PRO 20XX OS". It's always an ancient MacBook that's had the latest OS installed on it, sometimes by force. eBay is full of $300 2009 Core 2 Duo MBPs that suckers buy because all they see is "MACBOOK PRO 2017 SPEC PRE-RETINA LOOK!!!!!!!" GPU ads that read like this: FS: 10 GTX 1060 MSI Armor, 7 GTX 1070 MSI Aero, 4 RX 480 Sapphire Nitro, never mined never overclocked!!!! Um...bullshit. Every single ad on eBay labeled "gaming PC" or any variation thereof is either a very intentional scam or just a piece of shit not worth your time Remember back when GPU mining was big and literally every modern GPU on eBay was actually a GTS 450?

I ran across such years ago back when I was looking around for parts and checking prices on doing an AMD Socket 754 build back in the day.
The sales guy thought he has me pegged as a sucker and if I hadn't already learned what little I knew back then he probrably would have been right but lucky me - I'd already seen a few prices on different chips elsewhere and immediately spotted from a mile away what this guy was about.

At first we talked and I told him what I was looking for with the usual questions such as how would I be using the system, yada-yada-yada...... You get it.
I noticed the more we talked he began "Steering " me towards a certain CPU model...... Which was a 3100+ Sempron.

He eventually went into a sales pitch about how "Great" the chip was, that it would (In his words) "Blow away" almost anything AMD or Intel had to offer at the time and would be the perfect chip for me and my proposed build.
He then gave a price of $300 plus tax for the chip. 😂

I told him I'd think about it, then popped over to what was at one time a computer store (Computer Renaissance) and did some checking there about CPU models and prices, those guys when they heard what I told them just started laughing about it on the spot.
I already knew by the name "Sempron" it was a budget chip instead of a mainline model and they had better chip models for way less.

Long story short I went back one more time for my own amusement and he started up again about it and I finally told him I'd let him know as soon as my mind was made up and left the place.
Went to Newegg, bought a 3400+ Newcastle for way less than the proposed $300 pricetag and did my build.

It wasn't too long after that I noted this business wasn't there anymore so.... There you go.

    Nikon shooter here.
    There are better options.
Those listed above lack the built-in focus motor which will limit you choice of lenses.
A D7000/D7100 can be had for that 300$ range (I just sold my D7000 with grip and 35mm lens for 275$) and gives you a better body.
Step back a bit and a Nikon D2x can be had easily for that price tag, though the ISO range will limit it to acceptable lighting. But that body....

Burn out. Can only say that with hindsight though. Happened to me about 3 years ago. Tried to stay at my work (loved the product, the team and the facilities) but the toxic management and quantity of hours meant I just couldn't recover. So I quit.

I still haven't gone back into the work force properly yet but I've been able to pursue some other interests in my life and feel like I've been able to balance some things.

And then they don’t do the math to make sure the rest of the system can handle it and the truck engine obligingly turns the axle into a pretzel.  It’s astounding what can be done with pencil, paper, and an old 1960’s era milling machine though.  NASA got to the moon that way.

Never mind whether or not it's technically feasible; the question is whether any owner would need to bother doing it.

If you're the sort of person who can not only afford to drive an Aventador but also consider replacing the gearbox... you can likely afford to buy a Huracan.

Heh, fair enough, I just find it amusing you can buy some pixels for 27k.
I did a bit a researching on what 27k would get me, instead of the pixel ships and the results were enlightening.

For example, I could buy a used Ferrari for less than that. In fact, I did some years a go, for 15k I bought a 308GT4, which would have left me enough money for an engine rebuild (about 9k) and enough left over for a nice re-spray...or I could buy some pixel ships.
I called up the local brothel and asked what it would cost for an "anything goes" evening. It was 1K. So for half a year, once a week, I could get anything goes from the best in the business....or I could buy some pixel ships.
I could get the interior or my house redone, new flooring, new windows, deck with jacuzzi AND inground swimming pool for 27K...or I could buy some pixel ships.
I could take a round the world cruise to some of the most exotic destinations and take pics (I'm a photographer) that will last a lifetime, and perhaps even sell them...or I could buy some pixel ships.
I could rent a house on the beach for the week in the peak of summer, hire some models for a photoshoot, treat everyone for food, buy outfits for the entire week, or I could buy some pixel ships.

I can see where the dilemma is coming from!
    Cheers mate!

Not naysaying the game, I could not care less about it, not into star sims, I"m pointing out that's a lot of dosh (and it goes way up from there) for a game that's in alpha. You're paying for the privilege of finding bugs....they should be paying you, not the other way around.

Radium_Angel reacted to Rootbear75 in What’s the BEST TV Under $400?
In my opinion, comparing the "software" set of the Sceptre to the other TVs seems ingenuous to the Sceptre itself.
You cannot compare a simple OSD to a full Smart TV OS.

The fact that it completely lacked the features was the main selling point of the TV.  I don't want to deal with software when I have an external Roku Ultra that I'll be using as my primary streaming device.  Dumb TVs are hard to come by, and I couldn't find any others below the $1000 price point (that were over 40"), so the Sceptre was really my only choice.

A huge plus about the Sceptre, is that my Roku Ultra can control it with it's remote (Audio, On/Off, Source, etc) with that HDMI Device control, and that my Roku Remote has an Infrared emitter. So i rarely touch my TV remote as well. I haven't seen that with other Smart TVs with a separate streaming Device.

I have a 55" TCL Roku TV in my living room, and it's constantly plagued me with audio level issues, and no, it's not related to the soundbar I have below it. Sometimes I'll be streaming Hulu or Amazon Prime and have the volume set at 100, but I can barely hear anything. TCL has acknowledge this as a bug when I've contacted them, and said when they fix it they'll provide a software update, and it's been over a year since that has been said.

Samsung? Well I hate their OS to be fully frank. The fact that they have in-OS advertisements drives me up the wall. No TV should have baked in advertisements like that. (/me points to all of the $2500 nice samsung TVs with Ads) While the Roku has some ads, they're on the side of the home menu, and I don't have to deal with scrolling past it to get to the content I want.

I would love to see a review of Dumb TVs.  Because sometimes, you don't want to deal with smart TV bulls***.
