AutoCAD is a demanding use case. The 3400G can run it but anything past a cube will be a nightmare to work on. Get the Ryzen 5 3600 and a 1660 Ti. The 3600X is not needed.

The 1660ti and a 3600x is much better
You don't need a 650W for that combo

AMDs 7nm+ zen 3 CPUs will hit mid 2020 and 5nm is on track for 2021.

By the time Intel gets there 7nm they will be up against 5nm+

We've discussed this countless times. The third gen Ryzen CPUs have higher IPC than Intel Coffee Lake thus you need 5Ghz on an intel CPU to match the 4.4-4.5 on an AMD Zen2 processor. In addition, the benefit of hyperthreading is massive in the applications you mwntioned - Blender and CAD. It can result in a 30-% performance improvem by easily. In addition to that, the 3600 both uses less power and runs cooler than the 9600K while performing the same or better. It's also not affected by the 6-7 severe security vulnerabilities in intel CPUa that have been discovered.

In short, Ryzen is currently a superior product with a proper upgrade path and better single core performance per clock and efficiency. Intel 1151 socket is also end of life so the b at upgrade for an i5 is the space h after known as the 9900K whereas AM4 supports 16 core CPUs with potential support for Z n3 next year.

No, not at all. Intel CPUs make no s name at the time of writing this..please consult here https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1094079-what-cpu-should-i-get/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-12808204

With recent AGESA updates and software improvements, they're on par or faster in games as well so yeah, with Zen younger better performance for the same money or the equivalent performance for less money.

The clock speeds are lower but the instructions per clock are higher, therefore AMD processors this generation are a tiny fraction behind Intel in performance. As of now, AMD is basically cheaper for the same thing.

I hope these issues aren't going to turn out too big, or at least be able to be fixed with software (that doesn't lower the performance much), otherwise Intel will be somewhat screwed..
Or it turns out AMD also has these issues and it's evenly bad for both parties.

DanielMDA reacted to leadeater in iMore's reply to Linus on why macs are slower than PCs
Why does that matter, the older MacBook Pros thermally were better. Then they got too thin, for no good reason, and suffer thermal design constraints because of it. Did Apple forget they have MacBook Airs? They have a specific product made to be thin, thin isn't better, thick isn't better either. MacBook Pro is supposed to be a performance balanced laptop and that is why I used to consider them the best laptops you could by, period. Now I don't.

You just don't understand, they are designed to throttle so it's fine*.

Watch enough repair videos and you'll realize that Mac's are absolutely poorly designed in regards to thermal performance.

Their response is exactly the deluded and uneducated type of dribble I would expect.

    1. Shrinking the die, as far as I am aware, reduces power consumption and ups efficiency.
    2. Shrinking the die does not mean you have to cram more cores in there, to compensate. Because you haven't lost anything.

Really? You mean like that time they made a system that ran so hot, the BGA melted itself and popped the GPU off the board? And their fix?

Put a piece of rubber between the outer case and the GPU, so that it wouldn't pop loose. Edit: Instead of doing a proper soldering job in the fucking first place.

    https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/prevent-cross-site-tracking-sfri40732/mac

These Do Not Track requests can be mandated client side through the browser, legislation is not required to do what the bill wants. The problem is that there is really only one browser which takes a strong stance on this stuff, Safari.

Don't get me wrong, privacy laws and all that are great, but I also realize that if these companies really cared, they would already be taking measures to implement their ideological goals on their own. Currently the only major brand that I see doing that is Apple.

(Not to say DuckDuckGO isn't trying, they are just a search engine after all, they don't really have control over what websites do and they don't make their own browser)

On topic: It's about time that legislation be made to curb the use of our data. The internet was meant to be a free resource and companies are trying to profit off of our data and behavior. Tracking should be set explicitly across the board.
